A Word from our Partners Jehanne Fabre, Sari Husada Hello, what is your name? My name is Jehanne Fabre. I’m French and I have been working in Indonesia for 5 years. What is your position in Danone? Actually, I’m not directly contracted by Danone but by Sari Husada, which focuses on the nutrition of the mother and her baby. In this company, I’m in charge of the partnerships!

Why are you working with LP4Y? I have a link with LP4Y because I think that what LP4Y does has meaning and I really share their point of view regarding the pedagogy they are using to work with the outof-school youth! I’ve seen what the organization is doing and I think it is positive. When did you start working with LP4Y and what have you done with us already? We have been working with LP4Y since December 2013 doing several things like giving milk, organizing a company visit in Danone, another visit of Warung Anak Sehat (healthy children kiosks). We also gave some trainings about nutrition; and we donated money for the rent of the houses after the young mothers were evicted from their houses on the train tracks. Last but not least, we helped the Tumbuh program (Tumbuh means “to grow” in Bahasa, and is the name the young mothers gave to the activity they are developing with the help of LP4Y) design their logo and invited the youth to do a presentation for the employees and sell the jams. What do you think about LP4Y? LP4Y helps women change their lives through empowerment! The goal of the organization is, for example, to help the women living close to the tracks find a job and be able to move to a more beautiful and safer place for their family. And it works, we can really see the changes in the long term!

Can you give us advice to improve our program Tumbuh? The jams are very good but also really expensive; it might work well with foreigners but maybe Tumbuh could find a way to have more affordable products for the locals. But the quality of the product and the professionalism of the team are really good! Congratulations! What do you think about the team of young mothers? It is a very good team with a strong team spirit! Can you give us advice to help us find jobs? Just keep on doing what you are already doing with the trainings and the business activity. Stay motivated and work hard. Even if English is not compulsory in Indonesia, I think it’s a huge plus for the young women to know how to speak English, especially if you are competing with people with university diplomas. When will you come again to our center? We will come back soon of course. Now I will also focus on creating a way for some of you to intern in our company. I think it would be a great opportunity for you to learn what working in an office means. Could you give us a training about office jobs? Of course, we are here to help you with the needs you have; so if you tell us that you need trainings about working in an office, we will come with colleagues to present what we are doing in Sarihusada.
