Welcome! We hope this orientation will help you learn about the treatment of obesity and help you make an informed decision about whether our program is the right choice for you. With our 30-plus years of experience, treating more than 10,000 patients, we are here to help improve your weight management skills and achieve health goals.

What is Obesity? A disease of excess fat storage with a number of associated diseases, such as Type 2 Diabetes, known as comorbidities.

Obesity also…  has many different contributing factors    

LEAN Program LEAN = Lifestyle, Education, Activity, & Nutrition The LEAN program is an all solid food diet that aids patients to form healthy eating habits while steadily losing weight. No supplements are used. Behavioral, nutritional, and physiological components are covered in group sessions. Target Weight Loss

Balanced deficit diet (about 1,200-1,500 calories/day)

Averaging: 1-2 lbs./wk

Weekly behavioral, nutrition or exercise treatment education Medical visits weeks: 1, 10, and 20


Modified Fast This program encourages patients to learn healthy eating habits. The plan consists of one healthy meal per day, in addition to three or four OptiFastÂŽ supplements. Behavioral, nutritional, and physiological components are covered in group sessions. Target Weight Loss

Full Fast To achieve stimulus narrowing, (chewing/eating process) solid food is not consumed in this plan. Behavioral, nutritional, and physiological components are covered in group sessions. Transition back to solid food under the supervision of our medical team. Target Weight Loss

Dietitian Available by Appointment  Our Modified Fast and Full Fast medically supervised programs safely use OptiFast® meal replacement supplements.  Daily caloric intake is greatly reduced, producing a quick and steady rate of weight loss. Weight Management Treatment Groups • Psychologists, licensed clinical therapists, dietitians and exercise physiologists facilitate the groups • Provide skills, strategies, support interventions and education for losing weight and maintaining weight loss • Gain support and learn from experience of other members • Patients choose a specific day and time • Groups have rolling admissions ~Evidence shows that combining behavioral therapy with other weight management methods can help patients lose weight and keep it off~

The Masters Program  A group specifically designed for those who have attained their      

loss goals and would like continued support to maintain Group sessions offered weekly in both our East Greenwich and Providence location for those patients meeting transfer criteria No cost for one year, when remaining in the maintenance phase (no more than 15% re-gain) Nutrition, exercise, and behavioral topics addressed Focus is on skills, strategies and education to maintain weight loss Medical visits as needed Ongoing supervision and support

Most group treatment runs for 20 weeks. As needed, patients can extend treatment beyond 20 weeks at a cost of $100 for four consecutive weeks.

Treatment Charges  We offer a ten percent discount for group treatment costs paid in full at enrollment. Save $50!

 Monthly payment option available, $100.00 per month, payable on the 15th of each month.  Patient accounts with balances 30 days or more overdue are subject to medical review for discharge.

 Bonus weeks – we will add two extra weeks to your program to allow for missed groups due to sickness, vacation, etc.

 Payments or copayments for medical visits must be paid at the

time of service. Common medical visit codes: 99203, 99204, 99213, 99214

 Financial assistance available on a limited basis.


About Referrals:  Many insurers are now requiring a referral for patients who will be

seeing a doctor other than their primary care physician.

 If your insurer requires a referral, your packet contains the

information they will need.

 Please note, we may have to reschedule your appointment if the

referral is not received prior to your visit.

 The referral should be for our entire medical team.
