GAMES & SHOWS

All the events are now well advanced in their planning and in fact some have already taken place. By the time we go to print Gordon Castle has past and Cornhill will only be a couple of days away.

There is so much goes into planning all of these events, it starts virtually when one year ends, away the go again onto the next one. A huge debt of gratitude must go to all the volunteers that ensure each of these events do happen in our communities. Without the hundreds of volunteers, who give up many, many hours of their own valuable time, none of these events would be able to take place. I’m sure they would be grateful for any offers of assistance, so please consider if you could help out at your local Show or Games, they will be delighted to hear from you.

There are many Games and Shows in the North East for you to attend and show support. You definitely have a great summer of entertainment on offer, whether you enjoy seeing the livestock being shown and paraded around the ring if they are lucky enough to be judged as the best in their category. It may be the Highland Games and the caber tossing and the likes that you find exciting. The Massed Pipe Bands are always a firm favourite of mine but if not for you, then there are many other trade stands, craft tents and main ring entertainment on offer. There is something for all the family at every one of these events.

Check them all out on the following pages, check your diary and get along to as many as you are able. You won’t be disappointed, but maybe say a wee prayer for the sun to shine.
