LIFESTYLE LETTER
MARCH 2020 We celebrate our 8th anniversary publishing BuckHaven Lifestyle with this issue. Cheers to you, readers!
PUBLISHER
Jim Newman | jnewman@lifestylepubs.com 770.217.1282 EDITOR
Dear BuckHaven friends, EVERY YEAR, 22,000 WOMEN ARE DIAGNOSED WITH OVARIAN CANCER. My mother-in-law, Wendy Sheron, was one of those women in 2001. She lost her battle in 2007. If we only knew the risks and symptoms of this disease then, I think she would still be with us today. The mission of Georgia Ovarian Cancer Alliance (GOCA) is to educate as many people as possible about the risks and symptoms of ovarian cancer because, currently, there is no early detection test for the disease. Early detection and treatment are vital to increasing survival odds.

NOW IN ITS 28TH YEAR, THE HIGH MUSEUM ATLANTA WINE AUCTION IS THE LARGEST CHARITY WINE AUCTION IN THE UNITED STATES BENEFITING THE ARTS. From decadent in-home Winemaker Dinners to the sell-out Ladies Luncheon and the grand finale Live Auction, many consider this the best party in Atlanta to support our beloved High Museum of Art. In addition, the Paddle Raise contributes to Art Access programs at the High which provides for students from local schools: free admission to the High Museum, free transportation, free teacher resources and materials for the classroom, and a welcome back coupon for each student inviting them to bring their parents to the High. Jill Campbell and George Bullock are hosting one of the Winemakers Dinners in their Historic Brookhaven home. We sat down with them to find out why they are partnering with the High for this annual fundraiser. SUE G. COLLINS: Your daughter (who also lives in Historic Brookhaven) recently threw you a surprise birthday party for 100 of your closest friends. Tell us about your family and why you chose this beautiful community as your home. JILL CAMPBELL: I have loved Brookhaven since I moved here 19 years ago. It’s a peaceful neighborhood where people walk and bike - just gorgeous. Together we have five children and two granddaughters. It’s so fun when we all get together. CONTINUED >

The sky’s the limit for Tip Top WHETHER IT’S A CAMPING TRIP, UNWINDING FROM A DAY AT WORK, LONG WAITS AT CROWDED BARS, NOT HAVING THE RIGHT INGREDIENTS, OR TAILGATES OVERFLOWING WITH BEER, THE COCKTAIL ENTHUSIAST IS OFTEN ARTICLE DENNIS MALCOLM BYRON | PHOTOGRAPHY DENNIS MALCOLM BYRON & PROVIDED
COMPROMISED. Childhood friends-turned entrepreneurs Neal Cohen and Yoni Reisman have presented Georgia with the remedy to those libation blues: Tip Top Proper Cocktails. Noticing a void for ready-to-drink cocktails or simply “RTDs” especially during the numerous festivals they produced throughout the nation including Bonnaroo, Cohen and Reisman knew there was a market thirsty for innovation. The next step was finding someone ideal to craft their cocktails on par with the industry’s most elite. A mutual friend of Cohen and Reisman, David Stein— and co-founder of Creature Comforts Brewing—worked alongside a mixologist a few years prior at Decatur’s world-renowned beer bar, Brick Store; his name was Miles Macquarrie. Since punching the clock together, Macquarrie became world-renowned for his skills with the stirrer and shaker, co-owning Kimball House and Watchman’s Seafood and Spirits, and being a six-time James Beard Award nominee to further solidify his expertise. And even with all of the accolades and commitments, he knew Tip Top was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up. The results were Macquarrie’s flawless interpretations of three classic sippers. “We landed on the Old Fashioned, Negroni and Manhattan because they’re the trifecta of bitter, high proof cocktails that we knew could be shelf-stable in a can,” Cohen says. Next was the packaging. Esteemed design firm Sasso & Co produced the miniature, 100-ml white cans so cute a grandmother would want to pinch, branded by a distinguished giraffe sporting a top hat and monocle who represented “convenient access to the highest quality” according to Cohen. By September of 2019, Tip Top was officially ready for sale. The trio, based in Buckhead, is now rising to the challenge of success, stocking beverage retailers, hotels, restaurants
