RESETTING THE NERVOUS SYSTEM

Our Neuro Sympathetic Reset (NSR) is a 20-minute outpatient procedure that effectively resets the sympathetic nervous system to its unstuck, pre-stress or pre-trauma state.

The anesthetic block used temporarily halts this part of the overactive nervous system, and though the anesthetic is temporary, the benefits are long lasting. The block helps

create new pathways in the brain that allow us to process emotions and respond to stress in a healthy way.

The results are instantaneous as patients often feel better quickly, and the improvement lasts for months or even years.

Reset Medical & Wellness Center is helping patients hit the reset button and get their sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems back in sync. NEURO SYMPATHETIC RESET TREATMENT IMPROVES SYMPTOMS

Lifestyle Letter

I don’t know about you, but this time of year I am always torn. I find myself divided between resisting the commercialization of another greeting card holiday and indulging in all the sweet excuses to enjoy the season.

To do a Valentine’s Day date out or enjoy a cozy night at home? To buy a card or just say a kind word? I usually land somewhere a little in between. We’ll each arrive at different answers based on our preferences and personalities, but what we hold in common is an opportunity to make sure those around us know we love them. And regardless of how you choose to celebrate, we hope the pages of this month’s magazine will help you do just that as we celebrate and highlight what’s to love in your local community.

While we teeter between the chill of January’s chilly winter and the excitement of spring, we hope you’ll be inspired to take a moment to come together with the people in your life. The ones in your home and on your street. In your neighborhood and your community.

“Love local” means your local businesses, those in your community — but it also means loving what is near. Those under your own roof included. So grab a coffee at The Grind Coffee Bar and head home for a game night around the fire with the family. Or snag a bottle of wine from High & Low Winery + Bistro and indulge on a movie night in.

We’ve always believed what we can do together is so much more than what we can do apart. And we continue to see that demonstrated through the many stories told in these pages month after month.

Thanks for letting us be a part of the life you’re building, whatever that may look like. Our hope is that we inspire you to love it just a bit more than you did before.

Until next month,

February 2025

The Year of The Bubble

Bubbles & Bows is Celebrating Their Five-Year Anniversary

Nothing says “love local” like colorful, handcrafted balloon creations that are made right here in Medina County. That’s why we decided to sit down with Christy Overman, owner of Bubbles & Bows, for a conversation about her business’s fifth year in business.

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF.

I have lived in Medina for the past 25 years. My husband Bo and I have two beautiful daughters, the best sons-inlaw you could ask for, four adorable grandchildren and our golden doodle Lucy. We are blessed!

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN THIS INDUSTRY?

Before Bubbles & Bows, my career consisted of working for some of the most amazing companies, including The Walt Disney Company, Target, Bath & Body Works and Gap. In working for these amazing companies, I have learned from some of the nation’s top in class leadership. The training and development that I

gained through these experiences set me up for success in owning my own business.

Making the career move to open Bubbles & Bows all started when my daughter asked me to help decorate for her twins’ birthday. I started exploring on Pinterest and Instagram, and couldn’t believe what was out there in the balloon industry. I was intrigued, inspired and immediately drawn to the industry.

I opened the doors to our first brick and mortar location on March 1, 2020. At the time, I had no idea that 12 days later the world would be locked down. I thought: Had I just made the biggest mistake of my life?! I quickly reinvented the business model to reflect what was going on in the world. We had “the happy” that everyone so desperately wanted and needed. We figured out how to take our business to people and how they could pick up from us. Our community learned of us during the pandemic and has been so supportive and kind to us from the very beginning. We are proud to say that we are a success story out of COVID.

Bubbles & Bows offers everything from simple helium balloon bouquets to extravagant balloon installations. “

We outgrew our first location and moved into location number two in 2022. Then, we moved again in 2023 to our current location at 885 W. Liberty St. in Medina.

WHERE DID THE NAME BUBBLES & BOWS COME FROM?

The word “bubbles” is the name of the balloon that we use to create our Signature Bubble. It’s our most popular piece because it can be designed in so many ways. The personalization we are able to add to the Signature Bubbles truly sets them a part. Also, in March we will be celebrating our five-year anniversary, so we have declared 2025 the Year of the Bubble! To celebrate, we are planning to deliver some new and creative designs with this balloon.

“Bows” is just because I LOVE bows!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING YOU MAKE?

Jumbos are my personal favorite balloon! They definitely bring the wow factor to any event!

WHAT DO YOU OFFER?

We offer everything from simple helium balloon bouquets to extravagant balloon installations for parties and events of all sizes. We pride ourselves in having something for all budgets.

WHO IS YOUR CUSTOMER?

That’s simple…EVERYONE! From the newborn coming home for the first time to birthday celebration number 100, balloons make everyone happy. We feel so lucky to be a part of some of life’s most beautiful moments and milestones.

Giving In Style, the fourth annual fashion show and lunch hosted by the Medina County Senior & Adult Foundation (MCSAF), will be held on Saturday, March 15, benefiting Medina County Senior & Adult Services (MCSAS) at Blue Heron Event Center. Mishalene Wasmer, MCSAF fundraising chair, is collaborating with local models and Toni in Style of Chagrin Falls to bring an exciting runway show with the theme of “Romancing the Runway” to the area.

The exciting event will begin with passed hors d’oeuvres and a champagne tower as guests enter the ballroom, followed by a delicious plated lunch of Madeira chicken and short ribs (a vegan option is also available) during the show. During their lunch, guests can expect to see local ladies hitting the runway in gorgeous clothing ranging from casual wear to evening gowns that sparkle with accessories and unique purses. Unlimited mimosa bracelets, an elevated silent auction, live fashion sketching by Diana Komjati and generously donated cake centerpieces will also be part of the event.

Returning for her third year, Alexis Walters, Fox 8 meteorologist and event emcee, stated: “I support the MCSAS because it supports a group of people who are often forgotten. Our seniors have lived full lives, building the foundation for the things we do, and now they deserve the extra attention to ensure they get to enjoy activities, warm meals and care they need.”

This year’s local models include:

• Dr. Samantha Almedras, internal medicine physician at Cleveland Clinic

• Karen Hooven BSN, RN, manager of the care management department at Cleveland Clinic Medina

• Andrea Hutchinson, local pianist and performer

• Sandy Kaczur, hospital liaison and community relations with Foundations Health Solutions

• Chand Manglani, outreach specialist with MCSAS

• Sarah Poling, member of the Medina County Advisory Council on Aging & Disability and owner of J&S Poling Farm

• Dr. Amy Tucker, orthopedic surgeon at Western Reserve Hospital

• Hannah Wasylko of Baskets Galore

• Jenny Young, owner of She Did It Videography

All of the funds raised at the event for MCSAS will be distributed throughout the year to further support the needs of Medina County’s seniors. Last year’s funds helped

to support our local seniors by funding over 700 lunches for Senior Day, the Luau & Noon-Years-Eve Lunch, handicap doors, Aldi food-only gift cards, free congregate meals, first aid kits for their kitchens and drivers, pool room furniture, a 65-inch display board, swimsuit dryers, emergency fans and cooling supplies, patio umbrellas, a kitchen prep table, a supply wagon for health fairs, sponsor of Picnic on the Patio, hall rental for Oktoberfest, entertainment fees for Brunswick events, Alzheimer’s Walk sponsor and advertising costs.

The needs grow each year as the community continues to see a rise in the number of adults that are residing within our community. Over 20% of Medina’s population is over the age of 60, equating to around 42,000 seniors. In past years, nutritional needs doubled and in 2024 the amount of home delivered meals exceeded 44,000.

Purchase a ticket to attend this coveted local event for a good cause at Mcsaf.org . VIP tables and unlimited mimosa bracelets are also available to purchase along with exquisite silent auction items. To learn more about the Medina County Senior & Adult Services, you can visit Mcsas.org and the foundation’s website at Mcsaf.org .

DO IT for them

When we think about love, we often picture grand gestures or heartfelt moments shared with the people we care about most. But love can also be expressed in quiet, practical ways — like creating an estate plan. While it may not feel romantic, estate planning is one of the most meaningful gifts you can give your family. It’s a way to protect the people you love most, spare them unnecessary stress during difficult times and leave a legacy of care and consideration.

At Ohio Heritage Law LLC, we believe estate planning is more than just paperwork — it’s an act of love. It’s about planning better so you can worry less and ensuring your family is protected when they need it most.

WHY ESTATE PLANNING MATTERS

Creating an estate plan is about more than dividing assets; it’s about ensuring your wishes are carried out, your loved ones are provided for and your affairs are handled smoothly. Here’s how an estate plan benefits everyone involved:

1. For You: Estate planning allows you to stay in control. Whether it’s naming guardians for your minor children, someone to make healthcare decisions or ensuring your assets go to the people and causes you care about most, a plan gives you peace of mind. You’ll know that no matter what life throws your way, your family is cared for and your wishes will be honored.

2. For Your Loved Ones: Without a plan, your family may face confusion, conflict and costly legal processes at a time when they’re already grieving. A thoughtful estate plan simplifies things for your loved ones. It provides clear guidance and minimizes the burden on those who will handle your affairs.

3. For Future Generations : An estate plan isn’t just about today — it’s about protecting your family’s future. It can help preserve assets for your children and grandchildren, safeguard a family business or provide for a loved one with special needs. It’s a lasting legacy of your care and foresight.

ESTATE PLANNING: A LOVING GIFT

Making an estate plan is a loving act because it demonstrates your commitment to the people who matter most. It protects them from unnecessary worry and hardship during an already emotional time.

Imagine the relief your family will feel knowing everything is taken care of — the bills are paid, the assets are distributed and there’s no need for arguments or uncertainty. That’s what a well-crafted estate plan can do. It’s a way of saying, “I’ve thought about you, and I’ve done this for you.”

WE MAKE IT EASY

That’s why we make the process simple, straightforward and stress-free. Our goal is to create a plan that reflects your unique values, needs and goals — one that works for you and your family.

We believe in planning better so you can worry less. From our first conversation to the final signing, we’ll guide you every step of the way, explaining your options, answering your questions, and ensuring you feel confident about your plan.
