FROM BOOTS TO BANGLES, STYLE AND FASHION WITHIN THE MUSIC CITY REGION SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES. To find the best gems, one must travel to the various boutiques inside our area's eclectic neighborhoods and discover their own style. It's easy to fill closets and drawers with wonderful selections from our shopping options. In the past few years, Nashville began to earn a position on the nation’s fashion scene. The local, creative culture has attracted designers to make Nashville their home. Designers, such as Jamie and the Jones, Elizabeth Suzann, Emil Erwin and Amanda Valentine, are catching attention for their Southern style. Reese Witherspoon’s new clothing label, Draper James, also gained traction for emphasizing Southern roots and personal style. Nevin says Nashville-area participants have committed to raising $10,000 each to do the jump and that organizers can accommodate about 30 participants in October. They already have 15-18 participants working to raise their funds among colleagues, friends and community business leaders. "Each participant gets their own webpage through which to solicit supporters and to receive weekly reports leading up to their event," Nevin says. The Bird's Eye View Project started in Dallas with founder Ryan "Birdman" Parrott, a former U.S. Navy SEAL. In addition to the Nashville and Dallas squad jumps, they currently have jumps planned for Dallas, Houston and Boston. Nevin says many of their military charity events earn $300,000-$400,000 each time. "These jumps are a chance to meet amazing people and to assist an extremely worthy cause," Nevin says. Nevin indicates the group works by providing funds to grassroots charities that provide at least 90% of their capital directly to helping combat-wounded military veterans or emergency crews, particularly those trying to assist with burn wounds and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). WARBY PARKER OPENS IN MALL AT GREEN HILLS

WARBY
PARKER
OPENED A SECOND LOCATION SMACK IN GREEN HILLS BECAUSE THE COMPANY WAS FOUNDED WITH A REBELLIOUS SPIRIT AND A LOFTY OBJECTIVE OF OFFERING DESIGNER EYEWEAR AT A REVOLUTIONARY PRICE WHILE LEADING THE WAY FOR SOCIALLY CONSCIOUS BUSINESSES. In fact, the company’s executives partner with nonprofits, such as VisionSpring, to ensure that for every pair of glasses sold, a pair is distributed to someone in need. Green Hills Lifestyle asked Warby Parker’s vice president of product strategy Kim Nemser some candid questions about the selection of Green Hills, as well as eyewear trends, and she revealed the following details. WHY OPEN A SECOND LOCATION IN NASHVILLE, OUT OF ALL U.S. PLACES YOU COULD’VE CHOSEN? Before we ever opened a store in Nashville, we had chosen the city for our second office. We’ve always been drawn to its creative energy—the area’s filled with music, film, art and everything in-between. After opening our office downtown and store in Edgehill Village, we were naturally really excited to expand and get to know another part of town, so we quickly decided to open up a new location. WHAT TRENDS ARE OCCURRING THIS YEAR IN CHILDREN’S, YOUTH, MEN’S AND WOMEN’S EYEWEAR, AND HOW DOES THAT DOVETAIL INTO WARBY PARKER DESIGNS? Children’s + Youth: Pastel pinks and purples, bright blues and crystal tones are favorites amongst our youngest shoppers. We also continue to see our modern take on vintage round shapes working well for kids. Men’s + Women’s: Round shapes are also a customer favorite for grown-ups. Flat brows, bold tortoises and graphic two-toned acetates are all on-trend and a part of our upcoming collections. This fall, we’re releasing a collection of frames that each feature two contrasting layers of acetate to give them a special two-tone effect. We’re also really excited to start offering some of our best-selling styles in multiple sizes to accommodate more face shapes. HOW DO OVERALL STYLE AND FASHION TRENDS IMPACT EYEWEAR DEVELOPMENT AND LOOKS? We draw on inspiration from a variety of sources such as art, music, film and fashion. For example, the bold earring trend has been a nice complement to our more classic metal frames. The flat brow trend in optical has

been inspired by the bold eyebrow trend in makeup. From a color perspective, we are seeing soft autumnal hues going down the runway and are complementing those with new tortoise acetates—pale yellows and bolder shades of green. In addition, we love color blocking and the interplay of pastels or crystals against a bold tortoise or saturated color. We also value customer feedback, so we iterate and update best-selling styles by bringing them back in new colorways and sizes, or with new hardware. Our Super Concentric and Sesia Collection are perfect examples of elaborating on an innovative but wearable construction. WHAT’S THE MUST-HAVE EYEWEAR FOR 2020? We’re excited about bold acetates that really make a statement and complementing that with subtle hardware. The 1970s are having a moment: think oversized, rectangular shapes in both metal and thin acetate that evoke a sense of fashion and fun. (Stay tuned for something exciting from us that speaks to this!) As for color, deep burgundy, forest green, soft amber tortoises and milky pastels will be in our color palette. Modern takes on vintage round shapes will also continue to be a trend. They’re both cool and wearable. We also look to our customers to provide input on what they want, and our design team then experiments with mixed materials and techniques to create one-of-a-kind frames each season. WHAT ARE THE MOST POPULAR ACCESSORIES FOR EYEWEAR CUSTOMERS? Our Parker Case is a huge hit with customers. It’s a comfy, foldable home for your frames with all the right angles—and we’re always offering it in fresh colors and patterns. The Parker Pouch is also a perfect accessory. It fits two pairs of frames and is super easy to pack. Warby Parker provides the following additional services: + COMPREHENSIVE EYE EXAMS: Appointments can be booked online at WarbyParker.com/Exams. + VIRTUAL TRY-ON TOOL: Within the Warby Parker iOS app, it helps potential customers “try on” pairs before putting any glasses on their faces. + INSURANCE: In network with UnitedHealthcare and Spectra, eligible members may be able to get a new pair of glasses for just their copay fee. They accept other forms of insurance, FSA and HSA too. + PRESCRIPTION CHECK: They use a telehealth service that allows an eye doctor to assess how eligible customers are seeing through their glasses and provide an updated glasses prescription.

TAKE A FASHION TRIP TO ATLANTA SEE WHY CELEBRITIES SEEK THIS DESIGNER'S ICONIC LOOKS
AWAITING GUESTS AT THE SAVANNAH COLLEGE OF ART AND DESIGN (SCAD) FASH MUSEUM OF FASHION + FILM ON THE UNIVERSITY’S ATLANTA CAMPUS IS A STUNNING SOLO EXHIBITION THAT CELEBRATES A DECADE OF ICONIC LOOKS FROM A NOTABLE DESIGNER WHO HAILS FROM GREECE. But hurry, this exhibit only runs through Sept. 22. The “KALEIDOSCOPE KATRANTZOU: Mary Katrantzou, 10 Years in Fashion” exhibition pays homage to this coveted designer’s namesake label. The presentation spotlights her iconic and innovative approach to combining fashion, art and technology. Known for her limitless imagination, Mary draws from enchanting, unexpected sources. For example, Fabergé eggs, Bauhaus posters, postage stamps, perfume bottles and typewriters were all worked into her collections. “Print can be as definitive as a cut or a drape, and allows a woman to filter beauty found in design, in a subversive way. All my prints are constructed through digital technology. Digital print allows me to experiment with print in a way that fine art and other methods could not. It opens up a huge spectrum for possibility; I can create possibility out of impossibility, surrealism out of realism and both vice versa,” explains Mary.

BEEN BY FREE PEOPLE’S NEW SPACE AT THE MALL AT GREEN HILLS YET? Last month, the store with trend-setting items and vintage collections relocated to the upper level, in between Nordstrom and Dillard’s. As an American bohemian apparel and lifestyle retail company, Free People sells women’s clothing, accessories, shoes, intimates and swimwear. The company also offers beauty and wellness products, such as cosmetics, skin and oral care, oral supplements, crystals and books. The Free People brand’s promise is that “Free People women” live free through fashion, art, music and travel—being free spirits who push limits in the name of adventure. The company fosters a bit of a lifestyle community that encourages self-confidence and self-expression. Known for its playful femininity, the brand is considered a destination by many for party dresses, black dresses, wrap dresses, minis and maxis. Company managers recently added an “FP Movement” category to their lineup, which is a fitness-inspired mixture of athletic and athleisure clothing, in addition to information on workout classes and events. The Green Hills retail location is one of the company’s 1,400 worldwide specialty stores. Based in Philadelphia, Free People is a part of Urban Outfitters, Inc., along with Anthropologie, BHLDN, Terrain and Vetri. Free People was founded in 1970. In 1984, Free People began a wholesale line; its first boutique was opened in 2002. The brand is also distributed globally via direct channels, including the Free People Global site and Free People UK site. When looking for “festival clothing” this autumn, check Free People for fall-fashion jeans, leather jackets, sweaters, crop tops and maxi skirts. Free People’s new location can be found specifically inside the mall in Suite E 213.

When you walk into a house and your agent says, ‘this wouldn’t be a good investment for you; we can find better’, that’s when you know you have someone looking out for your best interest!
