In some respects Volume 7 sees Anjunabeats coming into focus. Our tastes have always been catholic and now, with a star-studded roster of incredibly talented artists, we are attracting and releasing a range of top quality records that can fully realise the breadth and ambition of the label. The 2 CD mix covers the full range of what we play as DJs and we’re delighted to have so many new standout tracks from our multinational, multi-talented and multi-lovely Anjunabeats family.
the outstanding talents of new Anjunadeep signings, Solarity, so we headhunted it especially for the compilation. Originally only available as an intro mix from the promising Silk Records, we’ve signed it up for a re-release complete with this beats intro version plus remixes from Jaytech and Incognet. We’ve been starting our sets with this recently and it goes off! Written and produced by Nick Harriman & Alfie Granger-Howell. Published by Involved Publishing Ltd. p & © 2009 Anjunadeep.
Answer42 feat. Belinda Frank Pink Houses (Vox-Dub Edit) We first heard this back in January, during some downtime at a beach resort near Recife, Brazil. It was hard not to fall in love with it against that backdrop, it perfectly encapsulates those sun-soaked few days and gets Volume 7 off to a flyer. We’ve even sneaked in a bit of the vocal to really anchor the feeling of a Brazilian summer. Written and produced by Wim Broersma, Ilich Molin, Francesco D’Este and Belinda Frank. Published by Involved Publishing Ltd. p & © 2009 Anjunadeep.
Dirty Vegas Tonight (Above & Beyond Mix) Every year Pete Tong uses his IMS Ibiza music conference to set a challenge for unsuspecting producers, in partnership with the Dane 4 Life charity. This year he invited us to create a remix of Dirty Vegas’ IMS anthem track in just 24 hours on site, and here’s the result. It was nice to get such a great song to remix, the lyrics describe completely how it feels to be in a club, either in the DJ booth or on your favourite podium. Check out the video of how we made the remix on Youtube and sing along next time you see us. Written by B Harris, P Harris, S Smith, J Peake. Remix and additional production by Above & Beyond (Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness and Paavo Siljamäki).Published by Involved Publishing, Copyright Control, Sony / ATV, Steelfixer , Sony / ATV. Boom Jinx & Jaytech Milano The first collaboration on the album sees two Anjuna heavyweights combine to great effect. With “Milano”, Øistein Johan Eide and ‘Jimbo’ Cayzer conjure up a swirling groover, setting just the right mood for the early part of the mix. Written and produced by Øistein Johan Eide & James Cayzer. Published by Involved Publishing Ltd. p & © 2009 Anjunabeats. Boom Jinx & Andrew Bayer To The Six Øistein’s second contribution to Volume 7 sees the collaborative baton passed to Andrew Bayer, best known for his work as one half of Signalrunners but rapidly building a big reputation as an extremely innovative solo artist. “To The Six” allies deep stabby synths with a beautifully emotive breakdown, to create one of the hidden gems of the compilation. Written and produced by Øistein Johan Eide & Andrew Bayer. Published by Involved Publishing Ltd. p & © 2009 Anjunabeats. Oliver Smith Pacific An appearance from Oliver Smith, one of the label’s very first artists, is a pre- requisite for this compilation series. “Pacific” is yet another work of art from Olie, all built around an achingly melancholic lead melody. Stunning. Written and produced by Oliver Smith. Published by Involved Publishing Ltd. p & © 2009 Anjunabeats. Solarity Terminal 6 It was the freshness of this track that first alerted us to
She’ll be releasing plenty of stuff over the next year and first up is Velvetine, a new artist project featuring Aruna plus Myon and Shane54. Between the three of them they’ve made the rarest of things, a great song that absolutely delivers both on and off the dance floor. Written and produced by Aruna Adams, Mario Egeto & Elod Csaszar. Published by Money Note Music & Involved Publishing Ltd. p & © 2009 Anjunabeats. Cold Blue Mount Everest (Dennis Sheperd Mix) herd The first of three appearances for hot new Anjunabeats star Tobias Schuh is his instant classic Mount Everest. The remix comes from fellow German and Euphonic mainstay Dennis Shepherd. Denis manages to retain all the intensity of Tobias’ original in very a chunky and modern-sounding remix. Written and produced by Tobias Schuh. Additional remix and production by Dennis Sheperd. Published by Involved Publishing Ltd. p & © 2009 Anjunabeats. Anhken Green Line Romanian Dima Petrisor makes a welcome return to the label with this breathtakingly simple and elegant track, full of hope and positivity. It has Anjunabeats written all over it. Written and produced by Dima Petrisor. Published by Involved Publishing Ltd. p & © 2009 Anjunabeats.
Reeves Call of Loneliness Reeves is a new alias from Andy Duguid, a talented producer from Scotland whose anthem “Wasted” became a staple in our sets throughout last year. We were delighted to hear that Andy was keen to work with Anjunabeats, and his debut is a thing of rare beauty, with gorgeous, ethereal operatic vocals and the chunkiest of grooves it is destined to become a live favourite. Written and produced by Andy Duguid. Published by Magik Musik / Talpa B.V. p & © 2009 Anjunabeats.
Above & Beyond Anjunabeach Completed on our about the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11, this track signals the end of our Tranquility Base alter ego. But fear not. “Anjunabeach” carries on the spirit of the name and is in this respect a follow up to “Buzz”. As such it is the first of many club instrumentals that we’ll be releasing, but as ourselves. An early version kicked off our set at Global Gathering this year. Written and produced by Above & Beyond (Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness & Paavo Siljamäki). Published by Involved Publishing Ltd. p & © 2009 Anjunabeats.
Oliver Smith Cadence Olie’s second contribution to the album comes in the form of “Cadence”. Debuted by us at Global Gathering this year, it has all the hallmarks of an Olie Smith classic, a lovely groove, a mysterious vocal-esque hook (that can say what you want it to say) and a huge breakdown. Goosebumps are back. Written and produced by Oliver Smith. Published by Involved Publishing Ltd. p & © 2009 Anjunabeats.
Paul Keeley Paper Jet (Bart Claessen Big Room Remix) Bart fell in love with the Original Mix of “Paper Jet” and asked if he could create a tougher remix of it. We were only too happy to accept and here it is, helping “Paper Jet” achieve the milestone of becoming the first track to appear on consecutive Volumes, albeit in very different guises. Written and produced by Paul Keeley. Additional remix and production by Bart Claessen. Published by Involved Publishing. p & © 2008 Anjunadeep.
Velvetine Safe (Wherever You Are) We’ve always been huge fans of Aruna - as a songwriter, singer, musician and performer she’s the real deal and we’re excited to have her on Anjunabeats.
Mat Zo Nuclear Fusion The young Londoner underlines his position as one of the breakthrough talents of ‘09 with the first of three
contributions to Volume 7. “Nucleur Fusion”‘s intricate melodies and rolling bassline bring CD1 to a suitable and very ‘Zo’esque’ close. Written and produced by Matan Zohar. Published by Involved Publishing Ltd. p & © 2009 Anjunabeats. Mike Koglin Vs P.O.S. Autumn This haunting gem is the result of a chance corridor encounter between Paavo and studio neighbour Mike Koglin back in 2007. On a whim, the pair spent the night working on a track together, only getting round to finishing it 2 years later, just in time for this compilation. A masterclass of evocative keys and windswept breakdowns, ‘Autumn’ is the perfect opener for CD2 and well worth the wait. Written and produced by Mike Koglin & Paavo Siljamäki. Published by Involved Publishing Ltd. p & © 2009 Anjunabeats. Sunny Lax Misgrey Hungarian Levente Marton has been quietly honing a new sound, very much his own. As with “Reborn”, the elegant melody and gliding mindset of “Misgrey” make for a very modern take on trance: dancefloor-friendly, uplifting and very, very catchy. Written and produced by Levente Márton. Published by Involved Publishing Ltd. p & © 2009 Anjunabeats. Nitrous Oxide Aurora (Sunny Lax Remix) Krzysztof Pretkiewicz, aka Nitrous Oxide, has become one of the labels most succesful producers, with an ever growing list of instrumental Anjunabeats monsters. Aurora is quite simply huge and has been a staple in our sets for the last six months. For Volume 7 we’ve picked the Sunny Lax Remix which again displays Levi Marton’s refreshing modern, alternative trance sound. Written and produced by Krzysztof Pretkiewicz. Additional remix and production by Levente Márton. Published by Involved Publishing Ltd. p & © 2009 Anjunabeats. Mat Zo Default ‘Default’ is a tech-influenced number flavoured with radiating melodies, rolling basslines and delightful vocal chops. This is borderline genius from the most talented teenager in the trance scene today, barely leaving the Anjuna stereo since it first dropped. Written and produced by Matan Zohar. Published by Involved Publishing Ltd. p & © 2009 Anjunabeats. Mike Shiver & Aruna Everywhere You Are A cursory search on Youtube will confirm that Aruna is not just a fine singer, but a talented musician and songwriter in her own right. For her second outing on Volume 7, she teams up with Sweden’s Mike Shiver
for the stunning “Everywhere You Are”, a wistful and beautifully balanced affair. Written and produced by Mike Shiver & Aruna Adams. Additional production by Igor Danilovic. Published by Involved Publishing Ltd p & © 2009 Anjunabeats. Super8 & Tab Irufushi No Anjunabeats compilation would ever be complete without Finnish superstars Super8 & Tab putting in their shift and Volume 7 represents the ideal stage for Miika and Janne to unveil their latest megabomb. Driving, energetic and rousing to the core, ‘Irufushi’ is a peaktime slice of uplifting trance, road-tested to good effect in most of our club sets this year. Written and produced by Miika Eloranta & Janne Mansnerus. Produced for Supertab Music at Helsinki Vibe Studios. Published by Involved Publishing. p & © 2009 Anjunabeats. Cold Blue 30 Degrees At Midnight Recent Anjuna newcomer Tobias Schuh injects a breath of fresh air into this part of the mix with the sublime ‘30 Degrees’, using orthodox synths to give an uplifting edge to an otherwise mellow but loved-up trancer. Written and produced by Tobias Schuh. Published by Involved Publishing Ltd. p & © 2009 Anjunabeats. Lange pres. Firewall Wanderlust We’ve long admired Lange’s work but our first chance to work together came in the form of his storming remix of OceanLab ‘I Am What I Am’. We’ve since cajoled him into signing ‘Tangent’ to Anjunabeats. Written under his Firewall guise, it’s a futuristic blend of subterranean grooves and hyper-distorted synths, moody but still richly melodic. Written and produced by Stuart Langelaan. Published by Involved Publishing Ltd. p & © 2009 Anjunabeats. Nitrous Oxide & Adam Nickey Moon Dust Anjuna’s two Polish titans join forces for ‘Moon Dust’, and with its roaring bottom end, classic trance synths and delicate piano touches, the track perfectly captures the very best elements of Chris’ and Adam’s respective sounds. Written and produced by Krzysztof Pretkiewicz & Sebastian Adam Wichary. Published by Involved Publishing Ltd. p& © 2009 Anjunabeats. Adam Nickey Callista (Stoneface & Terminal Mix) The Stoneface & Terminal rework of Adam Nickey ‘Callista’ keeps the Polish theme going but adds some Teutonic flavour to proceedings as we enter the peak phase of the mix. Stoneface and Terminal have been doing some amazing work this year and Henry and Matthias successfully harness Adam’s sweeping lead melody in a powerful remix destined for anthem status.
Written and produced by Sebastian Adam Wichary. Additional remix and production by Henry Nix & Matthias Gierth. Published by Involved Publishing Ltd. p & © 2009 Anjunabeats. Daniel Kandi Venice Beach Danish snooker star Daniel pops his cue back in its holster momentarily to concentrate on his other talent - effortlessly producing high quality melodic trance. ‘Venice Beach’ sees him bang on form again; crisp production, warm synths, subtle vocal echoes and a vibrant melody make this one of the album’s true uplifting highlights. Written and produced by Daniel Kandi.Published by Involved Publishing Ltd. p & © 2009 Anjunabeats. Activa pres. Solar Movement Eclipse (Mat Zo Remix) A new signing to Anjunabeats this year, Robert ‘Activa’ Stevenson has emerged in recent times as one of the most talented and prolific producers, writing and producing under a number of guises and also for a growing number of other well known DJs. His original mix of Eclipse featured on our Trance Nation compilation and so for Volume 7 we’ve picked the remix from Mat Zo; glistening electronics and gutterlevel grooves give this a distinctly techy makeover. Written and produced by Rob Stevenson Additional remix and production by Matan Zohar. Published by Activa Music / Music AllStars. p & © 2009 Anjunabeats. Dan Stone Fahrenheit It seems like an eternity since Dan Stone last graced Anjunabeats with ‘Made In Bahrain’, but it’s been well worth the wait. ‘Fahrenheit’ touches down and turns up with the heat with its effortless piano- inspired choruses and illuminating breakdowns. A welcome return to form from Norwich’s biggest DJ since Alan Partridge. Written and produced by Dan Stone. Published by Involved Publishing Ltd. p & © 2009 Anjunabeats. Cold Blue Downhill Tobias proves why we think he’s going to be a major Anjunabeats future star with his third contribution to Volume 7. Returning to the peak of the night sound he displayed so brilliantly with “Mount Everest”, he brings the album to a close with a no-holds-barred uplifter. ‘Downhill’s surging energy and upbeat melodies enable us to finish another Anjunabeats installment on a real high. Written and produced by Tobias Schuh Published by Involved Publishing Ltd p & © 2009 Anjunabeats.
