LIGMAN TRAINING THROUGH WIRING

THROUGH WIRING
Through wiring
Single cable entry
• Through wiring helps onsite installers to easily wire luminaires in a circuit • Good for constant current and constant Voltage circuits • Avoids a separate junction box, reduces time and saves cost • Can be used with remote gear, integral gear and without gear
SINGLE VS. THROUGH WIRING
• On a single phase circuit, where the luminaires are in a line (on a gantry, wall etc), through wiring is best
2
• On a single phase circuit where the luminaires are grouped together, a junction box makes sense
TRIPLE PHASE CIRCUITS • Triple phase AC circuits are typically found in street and area lighting. • Triple phase is comprised of 4/5 cables : live cables at 400V difference to eachother, a Neutral cable which is 220V difference between each of the live, and an earth cable. • Triple phase cables are traditionally thicker than single phase cables. • Triple phase can be used with single phase luminaires: one live is used with the neutral and earth. • In this case, a junction box is typically used because of the need to separate the cables and the conductor diameters. • Therefore single cable entry is used a lot on street and area lighting.
