The Vision of this project is to celebrate Chongqing’s unique landscape and history to create the most memorable and desirable address to live, work and shop within the Chongqing urban area. This project will also be grounded culturally to this region making the development to become a new cultural and social center in Chongqing.

Chongqing is surrounded by steep mountain ranges with Yangtze River cutting thru them. This combination of two natural landscape elements creates very dramatic and memorable scenes attracting many people to this area. People living in this region had developed their own unique ways of adapting their life to this natural environment. Walls and stairs were used to provide access to the mountain and taking people to the temples and overlooks. Terraces were built on the slope to create fields for crops. Cities were built between the river and mountains creating very dynamic juxtaposition of cityscape and natural landscape.

In this project, we are building on these unique regional landscape typologies such as mountains, the river, and terraces, which people are familiar with. In order to make this project unique and memorable, we are not only making references but also transforming these familiar landscapes to contemporary form and style by abstracting and romanticizing them. We believe that this project could reinvent the local tradition, culture and lifestyle and introduce the best and newest of what Chongqing can offer.

本案的愿景是要发扬重庆的独特景观和历史,并在重庆市区创造 出最令人难忘的和理想的生活、工作、购物场所。本项目也将使 本地区发展成为重庆一个新的文化和社会中心。

重庆四周围绕着陡峭的山峰峻岭,长江穿城而过。这两个自然景 观要素的结合,产生了非常引人入胜的和令人难忘的风景,吸引 了许多的人们来到这里。生活在这一地区的人们已经探索出了他 们自己的独特生活方式以适应这里的自然环境。人们为了能够到 达山顶、寺庙、观赏风景用墙体和楼梯来修做通道。梯田建在斜 坡上用来种植农作物。城市被建在长江和山脉之间,形成了充满 活力的城市景观和自然景观 在本项目中,我们以人们所熟悉的当地独特的山脉,河流,梯田 等景观元素为基础。为了使这个项目成为独特的而难忘的,我们 不仅要引用这些熟悉的景观,而且要通过抽象化和浪漫化的手法 把他们转换成现代的形式和风格。我们认为本项目将重新塑造当 地的传统、文化和生活方式,并可以介绍重庆最好和最新的方面

本项目的总体目标是在市中心通过简练的、现代的但精致的、丰 富的景观设计,创造一个平和的居住环境,在这里人们可以得到 放松、重新获得精力。拟议的景观体系融入了一系列的开放空 间、花园、不同尺度的道路网,以满足私密性和公共交流的需 求。我们希望在不同的季节、不同的场合或特定的某天里每个居 民都能找到他或她最满意的景点

The overall goal of the project is to create a peaceful residential environment within the urban center where people can feel relaxed and rejuvenated through a simple and contemporary but refined and rich landscape. The proposed landscape framework embeds a series of open spaces, garden rooms, and a network of paths at different scales which provide both intimate and communal experiences. We hope that each resident will find his/her favorite spots for specific times of the day, for each season, and for different occasions.

Water is a key feature in Chongqing’s natural and cultural landscape. Inspired from the role the Yangtze River plays in the lives of those who live in the city, the concept design offers an array of water experiences in the landscape. Dramatic waterwalls greet residents at the two main entries, and set the initial stage for the rest of the development. Within the residential development, at the Residential Terraces, runnels, canals and small fountains provide the source for the large water feature in the Community Terraces. Water falls and cascades provide a dynamic scene for residents to enjoy, the main curvilinear “river” can be viewed along the Community trail, and peaceful water gardens instill contemplation. Likewise, the retail experience consists of water features of varying character; water jets that attract shoppers and workers, cascading waterwalls that highlight the elevation changes at the sidewalk edge, and calm water plinths that embody the refinement of the project.

“Canyon Entry” - Chongqing’s unique landscape is celebrated in a dramatic residential entry. Drawing from steep mountain walls and the iconic Yangtze river, a waterwall feature at the main entrance not only greets residents but also holds the topography changes of the site. The bamboo forest on one side of the entry road insinuates landscape that will be discovered within the development, and deciduous trees on the other side of the road creates seasonal interest.

“峡谷入口”- 重庆特有的景观在这个充满视觉冲击力 的住宅区入口展现。从陡峭的山壁和标志性的长江中汲 取设计灵感,主入口的跌水墙不仅是对住户的一种迎 接,同时也契合了地形的一种变化。入口道路一旁的竹 林则暗示了景观将会随着空间的变化而慢慢显现。

One of the residential entry experiences begins at the Clubhouse Drop-off and Entry, the other at the Entry Canyon. The Drop-off captures the Residential Terrace character with a paving pattern and planting palette inspired by the Bamboo Forest, this conveys a sense of peace and an understanding of being at the threshold of an oasis. Continuing into the Entry, a spectacular water garden greets guests as they then discover a dramatic waterfall that vertically connects the Clubhouse above with the Entry.

住宅入户的其中一个体验始于会所下客点入口处,另一个 则是在峡谷入口处。下客处根据竹林的灵感,汲取了住宅 台地特有铺地的特色和植载种类,给人以宁静和身处绿洲 入口的存在感。延续至入口,一个壮观的水景花园迎接归 来的住户,那时他们会发现一个极具动感的瀑布垂直的连 接着入口及其上的会所。

“RIDGE WALK” – a formal covered walkway tracing the edges of the site and creating the linkage of active outdoor programs such as pool terrace, tea terrace, recreation terrace, and city lounges. These programmed terraces are strategically placed to take full advantage of magnificent views to the river, cityscape, and mountains. The “RIDGE WALK” also creates the visual frame and boundary to our site from the surroundings.

“山脊步道”- 是一个沿着基地的边界的有顶的人行步道,它连接起了各种 户外活动场地,如泳池露台,喝茶平台,休闲平台,城市休息处。这些规划 的平台被合理的布置在有特别的视野的地方以充分观赏壮丽的长江景色,城 市景观,和山脉。 “脊“,在基地的周围也形成了视觉上的轮廓和边界。

“Bamboo Forest + Outcrop Gardens” - A series of bamboo forested landforms are introduced on the site to create soft boundaries for each residential tower. The “Bamboo Forest” becomes a peaceful buffer zone where a network of intimate garden paths brings people into the intimate journey and discovery of “Outcrop Gardens.” “Outcrop Gardens” are nestled within the bamboo forest. Each garden provides unique and intimate space celebrating seasonality, natural phenomena of light and shadow, and other essential quality found in the landscape.

“Residential Terraces” - Each residential tower is grounded on a terrace that offers a lobby forecourt, gardens, and intimate water features. The linear paving pattern of the forecourt is inspired by the surrounding bamboo forest. The terrace walls create private gardens for the residents of each tower. And we begin to selectively introduce the initial source of water that sinuously meanders to the larger water features of the lower Community Terraces.

“Community Terraces” - The sculpted terraces provide a continuous openspace for the enjoyment of the residential community, as well creating soft, slope transitions between the different levels of the residential tower ground-floors. The “Community Terraces” offer gathering opportunities for families and neighbors, extensive lawns and water features that range from cascading water walls, “rivers” and canals , pools, and contemplative water gardens.

社区台地-重塑的台地为住宅区的生活娱乐提供了一系列连续的开放空 间,不同住宅台地之间也有很自然和柔和的高程过渡衔接。社区台地为 每户家庭和邻里创造了聚集交流的空间,开阔的草坪和特色水景沿跌水 墙,“河流”,水道,水池和冥想水景花园延展开来。

“City Lounges” - The vibrant city lifestyle is captured in the “City Lounges” which are exclusive to the residential area of the project. These roof lounges provide residents with views towards the city while they relax and socialize. The “City Lounges”are connected throughout, including the Club House roof and each lounge overlooking the City Terraces (retail plazas), by a unifying paving pattern that is inspired by traditional Chinese window screenings.

城市会客厅- 活力绽放的城市生活方式在城市会客厅中也可见一斑,同时只 为本项目的住户所尊享。屋顶会客厅为住户提供了休闲和社交时的城市眺望 眺望视野。城市会客厅贯穿整个项目,包括会所屋顶及每个可以俯瞰城市台 地(商业广场)的会客空间,用统一的铺装来联系界定,这个灵感也来自于 传统的中国纱窗形式。

“City Terraces” - These are the retail plazas that represent the juxtaposition of the cityscape and the natural landscape. The “City Terraces” each steps down at a different level to accommodate the sloped street. With a series of stairs open each plaza to the sloped sidewalk we invite pedestrians to enter seamlessly. Contemporary green walls and water walls address the vertical edge conditions. Each “City Terrace” varies in character, each alluding to the urban and natural richness of Chongqing.

城市台地-为商业广场区域,是城市空间和自然景观的交叠处。结 合坡行的街道城市台地也顺势的拾级而下。通过一系列的台阶连接 不同的广场空间和坡行的人行道,人们可以很顺畅来往穿行。现代 风尚的绿墙和水墙也界定了周围竖向的空间。每一个城市台地的特 色都各有千秋,不经意流露着重庆城市的繁荣和自然环境的富绕。

KEY PLAN 索引图 The Upper Forest Plaza hosts strips of low groundcover that alternate with the paving to create the most planted plaza of 5 City Terraces. In addition to the paving strips between the planted areas, the plaza’s diagonal “corridor” allows for easy circulation, a feature in all City Terraces. The varying planting palette offers seasonal interest to visitors and will represent the Chongqing native species. Visitors can pause at the plaza benches to rest and watch the activity before them. A deck facing the central retail facade with seating opportunities allows for dining and cafe activities to “spillout” onto the plaza. To meet EVA requirements, the low groundcover will not obstructed EVA access and the trees are placed outside the EVA landing area.

上层森林广场-条状的低矮地被和铺装之间有机穿插,在5 个城市台地中营造一个植栽最生机盎然的广场。除了种植 区域间穿插的铺装带之外,广场的对角线“走廊”也形成 一个很便捷的交通流线,同时也是所有城市台地间的一个 特色。变化的植被种类为前来的参观者提供了季相的视觉 变化,也代表了重庆本土的一些植物种类。参观者可以在 广场座椅上休憩片刻,观看者眼前人来人往的活动。正对 中心商业立面,木平台上摆放着一些座椅,人们可以在其 间休息用餐和喝咖啡,一切繁荣的活动在广场空间上欣欣 的演绎。为了满足消防的要求,低矮的地被植物将不会阻 碍消防车的通达,同时树木的种植也被安排在了消防等高 面区域之外。

This City Terrace receives its name from the illuminated bands in the paving pattern and its openness to the pedestrian flow from the perpendicular street directly in front. A native deciduous tree selection will maintain the transparent character of the plaza and the landform facing the second-floor balcony offers and amphitheater setting for large gatherings and performances. The landform within the EVA landing will be less than 5% and will be planted with low groundcover as to not obstruct vehicular access.

城市台地的命名来源于在铺装图纹中的光带和从前方垂直 街道人行流线与广场之间的直接通达。本土落叶树的选择 维持了通透的广场特性,面对二层阳台的地形也为人们提 供了大型聚集和表演的户外剧场空间。消防登高面内的坡 度小于5%,被地矮的地被覆盖同样也不会阻碍消防车的通 达

The Water Plaza is a dynamic public space that reflects the sophistication of the Icon Retail building. Water jets flush with the paving surface (so as not to obstruct EVA access), along with feature lighting, can be programmed perform water shows to entertain the public. Towards the escalators and stairs, the water feature becomes more subdued yet equally impressive, with a sloped water wall that leads visitors to the next plaza below.

The water theme continues and flows to the Icon Retail and Lower Water Plazas, leading visitors to an ample City Terrace at the western end of the project. The edge condition is resolved with sloping and vertical waterwalls between the stairs and the sidewalk. The “Lower Water Plaza” offers tranquility in contrast to the water jets with shallow sloped reflecting pools within the EVA landing. Outside of the EVA zone, the water features extrude to more prominent elements, as seatwalls that surround cascading water plinths.
