Programmable incremental encoders come in three series: • IQ36/CKQ36 • IQ58/CKQ58 • IP58/CKP58 IQ36/CKQ36 is the small size encoder featuring a flange diameter of 36 mm only and a depth of less than 40 mm. It is rugged and extremely compact and can be equipped with 6 mm hollow or solid shaft. The protection rating is IP67 (IP65 on shaft side) or IP69K with sealed circuits on demand. Thus IQ36/CKQ36 is exceptionally well suited for the harshest industrial environments and even for critical applications suffering from limited space including utility vehicles, construction equipment, product handling equipment, pick & place robots. IQ58/CKQ58 is the general-purpose encoder designed for standard installations at a competitive price. It comes in the standard 58-mm (2.28”) flange diameter design and offers the whole range of mechanical configurations, with hollow (Ø 14, 15 mm; 0.55”, 0.59”) and solid (Ø 6, 8, 9.52, 10, 12 mm / 0.24”, 0.31”, 3/8”, 0.39”, 0.47”) shaft versions. IP58/CKP58 is the powerful, high resolution and high precision measuring system adding a plus of benefits to meet the requirements of demanding and high-performance applications. From the mechanical point of view IP58/CKP58 offers the same characteristics as IQ58/CKQ58, except that it further allows for extended -40°C +100°C (-40°F +212°F) operating temperatures. Some electrical characteristics differentiate IQ encoders from IP encoders. IQ36/CKQ36 and IQ58/CKQ58 feature a robust magnetic scanning with automatic calibration and can be programmed to accommodate any value from 1 to 16,384 pulses per rotation. They provide AB0 and inverted /AB0 signals via Push-Pull & Line Driver compatible output circuit. The output signal voltage level is according to the input voltage (+5Vdc … +30Vdc).

In addition the Index mark position and duration (90° or 180° el.) as well as the counting direction (CW and CCW) can be set via the PC tool supplied for free (a connection kit to wire connect the encoder and the PC via USB can be purchased separately). IP58/CKP58 encompasses a precise optical scanning instead and is programmable from 1 to 65,536 PPR. Furthermore it is able to achieve an accuracy of ±0.005° and a counting frequency up to 750 kHz. It is also fitted with a push-button mounted on the external enclosure to comfortably set the Index mark at any position (in addition the Index mark can be set via PC or by applying a remote signal). A further advantage is the Universal output circuit (Push-Pull & Line Driver compatible) and the selectable output signal voltage level: it can be either +5Vdc or according to the input voltage to match individual application demands. Also IP58/CKP58 allows the Index mark position and duration as well as the counting direction to be set freely. Two LEDs for improved diagnostic information complement the remarkable features of the top choice. IQ36/CKQ36 is available with cable or M12 connector outputs, while IQ58/CKQ58 and IP58/CKP58 further add the M23 connector output option.

IFS-10, SIL3/PLe functional safety! IFS-10 safety controller family from Lika Electronic is designed for safe monitoring of speed, standstill and direction of motion of incremental encoders and sensors both “safe” and “non safe” to be integrated into systems that require up to SIL3/PLe Functional Safety Level.

IFS-10 SIL3 / PLe certified modules are designed for safe monitoring of underspeed, overspeed, standstill and direction of motion of incremental encoders and sensors both “safe” and “non safe” to be integrated into systems that require up to SIL3 Safety Integrity Level and up to PLe Performance Level. IFS-10 allow to create a redundant safety subsystem by connecting at input 1Vpp sine-cosine or TTL/RS-422 or HTL/Push-Pull encoders, but also proximity sensors, limit switches and HTL/PNP command devices. So they monitor underspeed, overspeed, standstill and direction of motion by means of STO, SS1, SS2, SOS, SLS, SDI, SSM safety functions in compliance with the EN61800-5-2 standard in order to achieve the required safety level. The monitors can be equipped with 1 4-20mA analog output, 1 5-36Vdc relays output and up to 4 HTL control outputs, all of them are safe outputs. In specific models they are further fitted with additional sine-cosine or RS-422 splitter outputs that provide additional safe encoder signals to subsequent controller. The set-up of all functions and the parametrization of input and output features are performed by using either the PC software tool supplied for free or the optional and removable OLED display and programming module IFS-10-PM. By virtue of their great versatility and the broad compatibility IFS-10 safety controllers are perfect both for installation in modern certified automation systems and in case of retrofitting of outdated plants, such us in the automation of stage machinery, swivelling platforms, cranes, hoists, working machines, wind turbines, conveying systems, industrial robots and manipulators.
