SM encoder module for OEM integration Need a low cost incremental encoder module for direct integration into your own OEM motion control application? Lika Electronic introduces the miniature yet complete solution for any rotary and linear position feedback needs.

SM is the incremental encoder module specifically designed to be built into a variety of OEM systems. Thanks to its electronic engineering design with miniature footprint and selected microcomponents, it is ideal to be easily integrated into printed circuit boards (PCBs) to match exact customer requirements. SM fully incorporates the magnetoresistive sensor, the interpolator and the conversion electronics protected in a resin-encapsulated enclosure ensuring good mechanical strength and electrical insulation; furthermore it features pin connections for direct soldering to PCBs. The power supply circuit and EMC protections must be provided on the main board. The robust non-contact magnetic technology ensures wear-free operation and liberal mounting tole-

rances in a wide range of temperatures for great ease of installation. SM provides quadrature digital signals with inverted signals via either HTL (Push-Pull +10 +30Vdc) or TTL (Line Driver +5Vdc) output circuit. Resolution is down to microns. SM can be paired with both linear scales and magnetic rings for position control in linear and rotary installations.

New PROFINET encoders from Lika Electronic Lika Electronic further complements the fieldbus encoder family introducing now the absolute singleturn and multiturn encoders with Profinet interface, the Ethernet-based technology devised to apply established information technology standards to advanced industrial automation. Both the low cost EM58 series and the high resolution HS58/HM58 series from Lika Electronic are available with Profinet IO interface today. PROFINET is the 100% Ethernet compatible open standard for Industrial Ethernet. Spreading increasingly and rapidly at all levels, Ethernet industrial technology enables improved performances and allows to meet efficiency and productivity requirements in any complex industrial system. Real time communication, deterministic synchronization, high speed up to 100 Mbit/s full duplex over long distances, flexible network topologies, complete diagnostics, IT integration are among the key benefits. Profinet IO encoders from Lika Electronic fully comply with the Encoder Profile Specifications V4.1 version 3.162 based on the PROFIdrive profile. Furthermore they fulfill the requirements of the Application Classes 3 and 4, thus they support both the RT real-time transmission mode and the IRT isochronous real-time mode to meet precise and deterministic data exchange needs

(jitter less than 1 µs and cycle time down to 1 ms). The standard TCP/IP channel is used for parametrization, configuration and acyclic read/write operations. The most frequent network topologies can be implemented and even mixed together including Star, Line, Tree and Ring structures. The number of nodes is virtually unlimited. Profinet encoders support the standard telegrams 81, 82, 83 and 84: full scaling, preset, code sequence, position and velocity readout, diagnostic information etc. functions are implemented. EM58 is the low cost multiturn version offering 27-bit resolution

(8192 cpr x 16384 rev.). H- high resolution series comes in both singleturn (18-bit resolution, 262144 cpr) and multiturn (30-bit resolution, 65536 cpr x 16384 rev.) versions. Mechanically they afford standard 58-mm flange diameter housing with both hollow (Ø 14, 15 mm) and solid (Ø 6, 8, 9.52, 10, 12 mm) shafts. Capable of 6.000 RPM and working temperatures between -25°C and +85 °C (-13°F +185°F) they provide IP65-rated protection. M12 D-coding connector and AWG 22, cat. 5 cable outputs are available: they comply with Profinet standards and allow for simplified and safe connectivity, thus saving time and money whilst minimizing the risk of errors.
