The blind and the deaf both lose one sense and lose the "color" of the world. In dailly life, Deaf people focus their attention on the visual world and most blind people can feel faint light, and touch is a sense that they can feel and emphasize. So colorful light and rich touch are the way they perceive the world together, and also play a leading role in this project. The project is like a sensory palette, with various senses to bring the disabled a colorful or pleasant world. The client experience and work with the architecture, as if the silk thread are embroidered on cloth, colors are painted on paper.

ENERGY RESOURCE FROM NATURE

There is a long history in man’s utilization of hydraulic power, but Mannheim is not a fitting city for building major hydropower stations. Opposite to that, we propose a new way of generating electric power from water movement - triboelectric charging.

Along the aqueduct system is bundles of airtight pipes released from the sky bowl of the water tower. With the initial velocity generated by gravity, the water inside the pipes flows along the elevated aqueducts. As it flows, the friction between the water and the inner surface of the water pipes is converted into electricity.

The highest power density can be up to 8.84 μW/cm3.

The water ends up in a pond and flows back through underground pipes to storage tanks at the bottom of the tower.

collecting rainwater

controlling the amount of water in the top bowl

The water flows along downsloping pipes and rubbing against the pipes to generate electricity.

Part of the water flows down the small pipes around it to create the initial velocity.

When water is too full in the bowl, it leaks down to storage tank. When the bowl is short of water, water is pumped to the top through the pipe.

Some of the water is retained at the top of the tank and runs down the canal to creat waterscape for visitors’recreation

The nanogenerators performed best when wind speeds were between 4 and 8 meters per second, which allowed the two plastic bands to swing in sync.
