TREND FORECASTING


S I L H O U E T T E

‘Trend forecasting is much like archeology but to the future’ -Li Edelkoort, Trends Union These two shots are my favourite out of them all. These two were amongths many as it took a lot to get these perfect. My group and I’s aim was to capture a silhouette style shot whilst still getting the vibes of London, Canary Wharf. To improve this shot I would change the model’s clothing. For example, you can clearly see she is wearing red, I believe that wearing all black would have worked better for this type of shot.


WHAT IS IT? Trend forecasting is like predicting the future, and you shouldn’t start by looking at fashion - you should start by looking at shifts in society, culture, tech, visual arts, politics, film and trends in other industries. The people that use Macro Trends are: Fashion brands, marketers, buyers, product developers, ad agencies and product designers.

WHAT ARE MACRO TRENDS? Overarching societal trends. WHAT ARE MICRO TRENDS? Shorter lived product trends.

This exhibition introduced me to an entirely different culture. This fascoinated me as the messaged was delivered through art. Not only was it delievered by art, Hassan Hajjaj used technology within his art which included video and sound.
