The story starts from now...

Microwave energy is a natural phenomenon that occurs when electric current flows through a conductor.

the story starts from here Like many of today’s great inventions, the microwave oven was a by-product of another technology. It was during a radar-related research project around 1946 that Dr. Percy Spencer, a self-taught engineer with the Raytheon Corporation, noticed something very unusual. He was testing a new vacuum tube called a magnetron (we are searching for a picture of an actual 1946 magnetron), when he discovered that the candy bar in his pocket had melted. This intrigued Dr. Spencer, so he tried another experiment. This time he placed some popcorn kernels near the tube . He watched with an inventive sparkle in his eye as the popcorn sputtered, cracked and popped all over his lab. The next morning, Scientist Spencer decided to put the magnetron tube near an egg. Spencer was joined by a curious colleague, and they both watched as the egg began to tremor and quake. The rapid temperature rise within the egg was causing tremendous internal pressure. Evidently the curious colleague moved in for a closer look just as the egg exploded and splattered hot yolk all over his amazed face.

All electromagnetic energy can be characterized as waves with a specific wavelength and frequency distributed over a continuous range known as the electromagnetic spectrum. For example, some radio waves have a wavelength of 6 feet (12 meters) and a frequency of 50 million hertz (Hz-cycles per second). Visible light waves have a wavelength of 400 to 700 millimicrons, and typical X-rays have a length of 0.01 millimicrons and a frequency of 30 x 10¹² millions. Microwaves (short waves or high frequency radio waves) are the shortest of radio waves, with a length of 0.1 millimeter and a frequency of 3 x 109 Hz. They are found in the non-ionizing portion of the energy spectrum, between radio waves and visible light. “Non-ionizing” means that microwaves do not detach charged particles and produce atoms with an unbalanced plus or minus charge. Microwaves can therefore safely produce heat and not cause food to become radioactive.

a great invention of the centuryunhealthy These days microwave oven is one of the most common devices that every kitchen has; however, when it comes to own the one everybody is bound to get confused as there are many types to choose from. No doubt, it is one of those devices that are rapidly adopted by modern society. A widespread use of it is the result of its usefulness and convenience. It is really a great invention of this century for all of us. It is a fact that a microwave oven is easy to use and it makes our life easier and smoother. zIt would not be wrong to say that in today’s world for most of us thinking about life without an oven is impossible. Most of us use it for two purposes; one is to use it as the helping tool for the main cooking and second is to use it as the main cooking method. So no matter how we use it, but trust is microwave oven is widely spread in all over the world and it has become an absolute necessity of every kitchen in today’s era.

COOKING CONTROL

17 / 18

How a Microwave Oven Works Microwave ovens use various combinations of electrical circuits and mechanical devices to produce and control an output of microwave energy for heating and cooking. Generally speaking the systems of a microwave oven can be divided into two fundamental sections, the control section and the high-voltage section . The control section consists of a timer (electronic or electromechanical), a system to control or govern the power output, and various interlock and protection devices. The components in the high-voltage section serve to step up the house voltage to high voltage. The high voltage is then converted microwave energy. These circuits include various fuses and thermal protectors that are designed to deactivate the oven in the event of an electrical short or if an overheating condition occurs. If all systems are normal, the electricity passes through to the interlock and timer circuits. When then oven door is closed, an electrical path is also established through a series of safety interlock switches .

Benefits of using microwave oven

saves your time and makes food tastier Arvind bought a microwave oven for their kitchen and surprised his wife Renuka on her birthday. She was very happy. She did not know how to use it but it did not take time to learn to cook food and make it delicious using the microwave oven. Arvind enjoyed it as a piece of a delicious dark chocolate cake melted in his mouth. He showered his wife with compliments and wished her a very happy birthday. But they both knew that most of the credit for that mouth watering cake goes to their new microwave oven. High frequency electromagnetic waves, also called as microwaves are emitted when food is cooked in the microwave oven. These microwaves produce the heat and cook each and every particle of the food. Microwave oven is a kitchen appliance which saves your cooking time and makes food tastier. Microwave oven consumes very less electricity and is easy to use. You may end up purchasing one after learning the benefits of the microwave oven. Read on and you will know why we say so

saves time easy to heat food, clean The important benefit of a microwave oven is the ‘time efficiency’. As compared to the traditional methods of cooking, microwave ovens take very little time to cook. A microwave oven has a timer which enables us to set the time for cooking food. When timer runs out, the oven turns off automatically. Different times are set to cook different types of food items. For instance water can get boiled in one minute; cookies will take longer time to bake. Tasks like heating remaining food (reheating), making crunchy pop-corns, defrosting frozen food, and heating packaged food are quite easy by using a microwave oven as compared to conventional cooking range, old fashioned ovens or stoves. Microwave ovens do not get hot themselves while heating the food. Microwave ovens are easy to maintain and clean. What you need is a damp cotton cloth or a sponge. Wipe the oven from inside and you are done. To get rid of the smell of food, boil the bowl of water in the oven with a few drops of lemon juice in it and your oven is ready to use again.

What recipes do you prepare by using a microwave oven?

“Great game night for some yummy pizza”

“Didn’t sleep weel last night, I need some coffee before work!”

“ Let me warm up a couple of coffee in 2 minutes “

“ Popcorn is always one of my favorite snack”

“Now, I can have it less than 5 minutes”

Do you really think it’s safe to use microwave all the time?

35 / 36

are microwave ovens safe to use unhealthy? Perhaps the early models were, but the current models aren’t. I worked at a military base safety office back in 1982 and one of our weekly tasks was to check the microwave ovens in use on the base. We had the equipment to test for microwave radiation leaks. We never found one that didn’t comply with government safety regulations and in most cases, they were safer than required. Microwave oven doors have an interlock feature which makes it impossible to turn a microwave oven on without the door closed and when you open the door, the oven automatically shuts off. I’m sure this safety feature could be defeated, but it would have to be intentional. If you believe everything published on the websites that say microwave oven cooked food is unhealthy, then you could say so. I don’t agree with things published on various websites which cite studies without providing legitimate references. Anyone can say anything on a website – it doesn’t make it true. There have been numerous independent studies and I can’t even provide references for them. Of course, I could always point you to places which give references, how much is accurate is still open to debate

what is radiation? Radiation, as defined by physics terminology, is “the electromagnetic waves emitted by the atoms and molecules of a radioactive substance as a result of nuclear decay.” Radiation causes ionization, which is what occurs when a neutral atom gains or loses electrons. In simpler terms, a microwave oven decays and changes the molecular structure of the food by the process of radiation. Had the manufacturers accurately called them “radiation ovens”, it’s doubtful they would have ever sold one, but that’s exactly what a microwave oven is. Microwave ovens are now present in over 90% of American homes. They offer a fast way to prepare and reheat food, which is perfect for today’s fast paced world. In fact, microwaves have become commonplace in American homes and have even replaced the conventional oven and stove-top for preparing meals. However, there has long been concern about the safety of microwave ovens. alarm you. As you read about some of the radiation dangers associated with microwaves, you may wonder whether microwave ovens may not be safe after all, and why they are not discouraged more by the government.

UNRECYCLABLE

Can you recycle an old microwave?

yes, you can. but... If a microwave oven is not in working condition, it can be recycled. Call your local trash disposal company to find out if they recycle microwave ovens. If they do not, ask them if they know a place that does. If your local trash disposal company can not help you, go to Earth911.com. Earth911.com has a search engine that allows you to search for microwave recycling centers in your area. You can also search for recycling centers for various other items in the search engine. If you are unable to find a local recycling center through your local trash disposal company or through Earth911.com, there are a couple other choices that you still have. Some places take broken microwave ovens and either repair them or salvage parts from them and recycle the leftover parts.

Reasons to Throw out your current Microwave Oven The effects of microwaved food by-products are residual [long term, permanent] within the human body.

Continually eating food processed from a microwave oven causes long term permanent brain damage by electrical impulses in the brain.

The prolonged eating of microwaved foods causes cancerous cells to increase in human blood.

Microwaved foods cause stomach and intestinal cancerous growths [tumors]. This may explain the rapidly increased rate of colon cancer in America.

The minerals in vegetables are altered into cancerous free radicals when cooked in microwave ovens.

47 / 48

From the conclusions of the Swiss, Russian and German scientific clinical studies, we can no longer ignore the microwave oven sitting in our kitchens. Based on this research, we will conclude this article with the following:

The human body cannot metabolize [break down] the unknown by-products created in microwaved food.

Minerals, vitamins, and nutrients of all microwaved food is reduced or altered so that the human body gets little or no benefit, or the human body absorbs altered compounds that cannot be broken down.

Male and female hormone production is shut down and/or altered by continually eating microwaved foods

Eating microwaved food causes loss of memory, concentration, emotional instability, and a decrease of intelligence.

Continual ingestion of microwaved food causes immune system deficiencies through lymph gland and blood serum alterations.
