HUMANISM Convention Center on Hills
Chongqing, China Intern Work/Group Instructor: CAO, Xiaoxin Jul.2012-Aug.2012
Chongqing is a Chinese city with complicated terrain especially for mountains. The site for this convention center is just right located around mountains with different heights. Despite the complex typography, the concept for it is basically quite simple as one local flower blossoming, which, on the other side, solves the problem of access traffic with the advantage of specific shape. My role in this project is to make the schematic design an

Humanism Elder Center in Madrid
Madrid, Spain Studio Work/Individual Instructor: HE, Yong Feb.2013-May.2013
The design is based on the urban texture of the center of Madrid, as well as the original CEBADA market. The Elderly Center becomes a connection between the market and outdoor space. Researches shows that, the utilization rate of the original market is relativley low, thus we retrofitting a platform to change the original function of the market. On the platform, some retail department stores are built to satisfy needs of the surrounding residents, which will hopefully improve market utilization. The center itself is designed with smooth body structure, while the streamlined appearance is well-designed for the elderly sensory experience.

The project focuses on the crafting of custom components in pursuit of an iterative and flexible system for designing. We focus on modifying the existing building and re-imagining a new design at both the component and the building levels simultaneously. We try to adapt our design ideas to existing conditions of our chosen site or building. We’re interested in designing a changeable panel which brings various watching experience according to people’s position. Plus, these changeable panels enrich the interior lighting, directions towards park, and expressions of buildings. So the breathing facade becomes as it is.

SPATIALISM Matrix Market in Brazil
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Studio Work/Individual Instructor: Keith Kaseman Jan. 2014-Mar. 2014
This studio is a space exploration for the site. The main idea is to create flexible space which could control its growth both inside and outside. The experiment for space chooses its site on the favela of Rio in Brazil, which means much more possibilities for the configuration and organization. According to the observation of Brazilian Favela along the river and on the hill, the staged layer becomes the archetype of this market with woven fabric.Based on the fact of interweaving this market mixture from inside and outside, I inject diagonal paving roof as the basic strategy from cover to cover. To weave the landscape as soft side, the paving roof have its beginning from the busy street as hard side and end its way at the top of south market roof with terrific scenic view.
