BIOLOGY - PRE-MEDICAL STUDIES
SUGGESTED MINORS
The Pre-Medical Studies concentration specifically prepares graduates for admission into professional-level health and medical programs with terminal degrees in medicine, dentistry, optometry, veterinary medicine, physician assistant, and pharmacy, among others.
Students completing this concentration are also well prepared for other careers in science and the larger world. Some of our graduates have entered the teaching profession, some work in the industry, and others have gone on to state or federal government positions in forestry, agriculture, or research.

GRADUATE SUCCESS
The data below outlines the path students in the program take within one year of graduation. (based on knowledge rate from 2021 graduate survey)
We have four tenured or tenure-track faculty with diverse research backgrounds.
The curriculum within this single four-year degree satisfies the common prerequisite courses for admission to medical and professional programs.
We offer courses with hands-on research experience.
All classes & labs are taught by our professors, not by teaching assistants.
Our graduates are currently working as doctors, veterinarians, pharmacists and PA’s.
PARTNERSHIPS FOR STUDENT SUCCESS
Limestone’s partnership with the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) provides our pre-medical students an opportunity to receive a Guaranteed Admissions Interview, as well as take part in an Early Admission Program.
Thank you to the Major Maps Committee for their work on this project & dedication to student success:

“We want to churn out what we feel is the biggest need, and that’s primary care physicians who will stay in the Appalachian and Southeastern part of the United States and practice medicine for the rest of their lives. We view Limestone as the type of place which has provided us with outstanding students and can provide us with a lot more. We essentially want to be Limestone’s College of Medicine.”
