Letter From Our General Director Adolfo Gonzalez

Class of 2019, As you go to college, high school will be just a memory, but it will be one of the best memories that you will cherish in life. You have matured and learned about yourself, worked hard and excelled in many areas. We hope that the friendships you have made during your years at Lincoln will become friendships for life. Keep in touch with them and keep your promise to serve others with honesty, love and compassion. Pope Francis gave students firm advice on how education helps you to grow: “It helps you not only in the development of your intelligence, but by an integral formation of all of the components of your personality. The principle element of education is to learn to be generous. Saint Ignatius taught us that magnanimity is the virtue of the great and of the small – Non coerceri maximo contineri minimo, divinum est (Not to be constrained by the greatest, yet to be contained by the smallest, is divine). It is the desire to do great things to respond to that which God asks of us. However, generosity is truly shown in doing well the simple things – the daily chores and responsibilities, and the ordinary encounters with people. It is doing the small things every day with a big heart open to God and to others.” We sincerely hope that what you have learned at LIA has prepared you for the future in college and life. We pray that you will be able to continue your life journey as you continue to learn, serve, lead and succeed, stated in the theme for the wonderful celebration we all had this year for Catholic Schools Week (CSW-19). As a group, you were accepted in more than 70 different universities around the world, and you received more than nine million dollars in scholarship and financial aid offerings. You also accumulated nine thousand seven hundred and two (9,702) hours of community service for the Service Learning program. Never forget how this experience of helping others has helped you mature and become a better Christian. Dear Class of 2019, congratulations to all of you, and especially to your teachers and your parents for guiding, supporting and challenging you to be the best version of yourself! El tiempo pasa volando, todavía recuerdo cuando llegué al colegio por primera vez en cuarto grado con mi mochila de Hannah Montana y una sonrisa inigualable y ahora sin pensar en el tiempo me estoy graduando. Siempre supe después de todos estos años que iba a llegar este momento. Hubo risas, y hubo lágrimas. Pero nunca pensé que me iría. En este camino he aprendido muchas cosas, entre esas la disciplina, el respeto y la humildad. Gracias a Dios por haberme guiado en este camino y por darme a una familia bella, a mis padres por ser los mejores, por apoyarme incondicionalmente y por siempre motivarme para poder salir adelante, gracias por sacar lo mejor de mí, gracias papá por levantarte todos los días para irnos a dejar al colegio y a práctica, y gracias mamá por darme la fortaleza y por todos los consejos que me han ayudado a ser fuerte. Valentina y Bernardo gracias por aguantarme y por siempre estar ahí para mí, me han hecho feliz los amo. Regi, Lucia, Meli, Sarah, Kitty: senior year con ustedes fue perfecto, son las mejores amigas que uno puede tener, sé que nuestra amistad no acaba aquí las adoro!. A mis changuitas, pollitas, vball team, han hecho mis 4 años en high school lo más alegre, siempre me sacan una sonrisa, las voy a extrañar como loca y espero que en un futuro volvamos a jugar todas juntas, las amo changas, sigan jugando con el corazón. Sharon, Noe, Marjo, Fran, Ash, las adoro mujeres con todo mi corazón. Gracias class of 2019 y felicidades por este gran logro, los voy a extrañar. Espero lo mejor para cada uno de ustedes. Se cierra un chapter muy importante en mi vida, me gradúo, y quiero agradecer a todos los que me acompañaron a lo largo de este tiempo. Le doy gracias a Dios por poner a cada una de estas personas en mi camino y por todas las bendiciones que me ha dado. Senior Class of 2019, son los mejores, tantas risas y momentos, no saben cuánto los voy a extrañar, thank you por 12 años increíbles. Quiero darle las gracias a mis papás por apoyarme, por estar ahí para mí, por su esfuerzo, por tantas oportunidades y por siempre sacarme adelante. Alexia gracias por todo, sos la persona más increíble en este mundo, no sé qué haría sin vos, gracias por escucharme, acompañarme, apoyarme, y por todo lo que has hecho por mí, no pude pedir una mejor hermana. Andrés y Gabriel, los quiero mucho y gracias por todo, un gusto poder ser su hermana mayor. “La experiencia no llega con la edad, llega con la preparación”-Walter Bazar. Quiero darle las gracias a mi familia por el sacrificio que hicieron para lograr darme la mejor educación posible, por todo el apoyo que me dieron a través de los años y aunque no se los diga seguido los quiero mucho. Quiero agradecer a mis abuelos que aunque no estén aquí conmigo espero lograr ser el hombre que ustedes siempre quisieron que fuera. Me es difícil creer que el momento que he esperado toda mi vida finalmente ha llegado. Hubieron momentos que la miraba negra pero gracias al Sheriff, por vos, aquí estoy. Ahora que estoy aquí no puedo pensar en una vida sin mi familia del academy. Mr.Stanley y Mr. Medrano gracias por aguantarme en sus clases, por todo lo que hicieron por mí. Mis hermanos de la mesa roja y los doggies of the shadows, gracias por haber hecho que estos años hayan sido una experiencia increíble y lleno de recuerdos únicos, espero que hayamos aprendido que hay que ser prudente en la vida, en especial por whatsapp. No tienen idea como los voy a extrañar. A los itzbaneros gracias por hacer que me den ganas de ir práctica y enseñarme lo que trabajo duro y perseverancia pueden lograr. Los steve los voy a extrañar y por favor me cuidan a steve. Aunque muchos pensaron que no fuera posible (incluyéndome) logre completar los streaks gracias a mis amigos que me ayudaron cuando más necesité un wingman para completarlos #laleyenda. Bacanurri los quiero enserio, jamás se me van a olvidar todos nuestros momentos juntos#cuadrado. Por ese detention en el que nos conocimos mi vida en el colegio mejoró, compartí tantos momentos con vos.. A mi prima favorita sos demasiado sofocante y resentida, no sos solo mi prima sino te considero como una hermana y te quiero como no tenes idea. Todas esas personas que han hecho que mi vida este llena de alegría y bendiciones, se los agradezco y los quiero mucho.

Part of the journey is the end xd. Bueno, llegamos al punto donde terminamos una etapa de nuestras vidas y comenzamos una completamente nueva. Quisiera agradecer a mis padres que siempre estuvieron apoyándome, dándome el esfuerzo y motivación para seguir adelante y que seguirán apoyándome en el futuro que decida, a pesar de la situación del país me dieron la oportunidad de terminar mi último año escolar en el colegio. Quisiera darle las gracias a todas las personas que llegué a conocer a través de los años sea fuera o dentro del Lincoln. En especial a los Perros, estos últimos años han sido los mejores, llenos de risas, diversas reuniones, junto nuestra iconic mesa roja cada recess. Espero lo mejor de todos ustedes, esforcémonos tan siquiera en la universidad muchachos, ya estamos grandes xd. Junto la mesa en lunch que lamentablemente ha perdido miembros pero que cada uno/una de esa mesa siempre les estaré agradecido. Sí de alguna manera esto llega a alguien conocido fuera del Lincoln, les aprecio mucho todo lo que han hecho por mi, todo el apoyo que me han dado a través de los años y las veces que han estado para mi cuando mas lo he necesitado. Anyways sepan muchachos los quiero demasiado a cada uno, son lo mejor qué pasó para que high school fuera un gran journey.

So we’ve finally reached this step. I can still remember the first day of ninth grade—no wait, scratch that—I can still remember the old days in Preschool here at LIA. At that young age, I was utterly oblivious of the lessons I was to learn throughout the years. As the memories now flash through my mind, I can only think that it was all possible thanks to my parents, both of them opened way to my life, education and more, I am grateful beyond words, love you two. My sister, Carmen Lucía, whom I love but don’t show it, thank you for being there for me. Rodrigo, dear cousin, thanks for teaching me what being strong really means and for a neveGonzalez rending list of reasons. In truth, thanks to every member of my family, you have all taught me unique values. Lucía, Luciana and Nicole, you make up a significant part of me. Shoutout to all of the seniors, and my volleyball team I will never forget any of you and thank you for the memories. A gigantic thank you to my teachers who left little seeds in me, if you have memories of me, then this applies to you. Looking back at LIA, I can feel a wild rush of love through my system, thank you good friend, it’s time for me reach the next step.

In the end, we are nothing but the people who surround us and the experiences we share with them. If not for these, we would not be the people we are today. For that reason, I must extend my eternal gratefulness towards the people who have supported me throughout this 18 year journey. To my teachers, for not only teaching me about a specific subject, but about life itself. To my friends, for sharing this experience with me. To “The Support Group”, for always being there during the best and worst of times. To my family, for loving me unconditionally and never giving up on me. As I am about to enter the next chapter of my adventure, I cannot help but look back and smile at all I have seen and learned. However, it is time I leave it behind and step into the future. Pongo esta quote por que esta banda y disco en serio hicieron estos dos últimos años más fáciles, y me enseñaron a ver “The Upsides”. Voy a empezar dándoles gracias a mis papás que son las dos personas más importantes de mi vida, aunque a veces puedo ser malagradecido sepan que en serio les agradezco todo lo que han hecho. A mis abuelitos que han sido los mejores, que alguien pudiera tener. A mis tíos que a pesar que uno ya no está aquí siempre voy a estar agradecido de haberlos tenido a los dos en mi vida. A mis tres hermanos que aunque no lo demostramos tanto, sí nos queremos y pues George y Rigo que después de tanto tiempo tambien son mis hermanos. A mi hermanita que mucho friega pero igual me da alegría. A todos los profesores que hacían de su clase un lugar donde aprender no fuera algo tedioso, pero algo que incitaba a ser mejor persona y estudiante. Y a todos mis compañeros de clase,aunque tal vez no fui tan pegado con todos sepan que a todos los quiero y siempre me voy a acordar de cada uno de ustedes. A la mesa de lunch que a pesar de que solo nos sentamos ahí este último año, fue bonito. A la mesa roja que aunque siempre la agarraban contra mí la pasabamos alegre. To this day, I am not able to process the fact that in a few months I won’t be walking the school halls, saying good morning to my teachers, or preparing for volleyball practice. However, instead of sitting here crying, I would like to thank all of you who made this journey possible. First and foremost, thank you God for every single blessing I have received. Mom and Dad, I cannot express in words the love and gratitude I have for you both, without your unconditional love, support and your extraordinary efforts, I would not be graduating. My little brothers, Eduardo and Matias, I love you. To my teachers, who apart from God, played the most important role and my parents. You helped me become the person I am today. Abuelito Enrique y Abuelita Lucy, ustedes son las personas después de mis padres, que más se preocuparon por mi. Sus canas son sinónimo de sabiduría, muchas gracias por todo lo que me enseñaron e hicieron por mi. Ashley, Katherine, Luvi, Maria Ruth, Desiree and Karla, thank you for the beautiful moments we once shared. To my classmates, who made every single day unpredictable, fun and unforgettable. To my perfect and amazing volleyball team that made my days SO much better. No hay mucho que decir en realidad. Toda la gente que me ha ayudado y apoyado en estos 12 años escolares saben muy bien que los aprecio, ya que al menos una vez se los he dicho. Familia (Padres, Primos, Hermana y Hermanos), algunos amigos que considero familia y algunos profesores que me han enseñado que la educación puede ser difícil, pero no tiene que ser estresante. Algunos se han ido, otros acaban de llegar. Todos han de saber quiénes son, hemos tenido largas conversaciones, visto interesantes temas y sin esas personas no habría ninguna cosa redimible de estos últimos años escolares. Dear reader, I warn you — You are about to witness the power of procrastination. Today, I have many people to thank. Like the support group I gained (special mention to Sarah, my adoptive mother), or the families I made (Valeria, for the endless hangouts and reassurances, Natalia, for the sleepovers and the joyous laughter, Sophia, for the inside jokes and for her awesome dog, Mirianna, for the shared angst and drama). Today I’ll allow myself to look back with nostalgia, and admit that despite shortcomings, this school served me well. Lonely halls were nonexistent—it was impossible to have a dull day with the three idiots — Rober, Andres y Santos — or even the roughhousing with Emiliano, or Alan. As a professional anarchist I promised myself I wouldn’t thank the system, yet I say—thank you Ms. Pillers, for treating me like your own. Ms. Beatriz, for inspiring and supporting me. Ms. Targa, for being the coolest rolemodel. Ms. Brenda, for bringing light into my last year at Lincoln. Ms. Claudia, for always pushing me to do my best. Sobretodo, quiero darle gracias a aquellas personas que siempre fueron mi sistema de apoyo. No hubiesen sido lo mismo sin mi Isa y Junior. Infinitas gracias a mi papi, por apoyarme siempre y aguantarme todo. Lo amo. Nany, te aprecio demasiado. Gracias a la Katy por ser como mi mamá y papá por tanto tiempo, y al gruñón de Ismael. First of all, I want to thank God for giving me the wisdom to get all the way here, without him nothing would be possible.“Graduation is not the end: it’s the beginning”. I had never realized what this quote really meant, until my senior year arrived. Since I was a little kid at Lincoln, I believed that when my graduation came up, all of my problems would be solved. This year I realized that the doors we open and close in our lives decide our future. Graduation is a door that closes our achievements at school, but also opens another one to find our true passion in life. My father always taught me to be humble, to work hard and strive for my goals and that’s why he is my role model as a professional. You are my super hero boss! Mom, you are an example of what a hardworking and courageous mother is, there are not enough words to tell you how much I love you. My brothers are the best mentors I can have, and my little sister is the reason of my happiness when I get home. Studying at this school has not been easy, for the same reason, I thank my teachers for helping me in everything and also LIA for being the best guide in finding the best way to a better future. I found friends who give me support in my difficulties, and I wish that they succeed in college or what they decide to do in their future. Now is time to go towards my next adventure, more goals to achieve, is not going to be easy, but nothing is impossible.

Por ley, todo lo que uno empieza tiene su fin. Desde que llegué al colegio en cuarto grado han habido ups and downs. Este camino ha sido increíble, ha estado lleno de personas y momentos que siempre van a permanecer en mi. Le agradezco a mi familia por estar siempre para mi, por ayudarme y por preocuparse por mi. Gracias a los profesores por esforzarse y por dar lo mejor de sí para que pueda tener la mejor educación. Gracias a mis amigos que poco a poco se fueron convirtiendo en mis hermanos, a los Dogs of the Shadows (Comisario, Don, William, El Codiciado, Carlos, Andrés, George, Joel, Emiliano, Manuel, Siles, Rigo, Octavio, Gabriel, Alan, Gustavo y en especial el Dado porque es el que siempre cumple con los streaks, el que siempre está fregando y el que siempre busca sacar una sonrisa en la gente) porque uno nunca la pasa mal, por las reuniones que tuvimos, por todas las risas y por todos los momentos que compartimos. Gracias al Support Group por siempre ayudarme en mis trabajos y en la vida porque con ustedes high school ha sido más fácil de lo que debería ser. Gracias a los itzbaneros porque jugar fútbol siempre fue divertido al lado de ustedes. En este camino han habido personas que siempre han estado desde el inicio conmigo y han habido personas que siempre están ahí pero yo solamente no los notaba, pero cuando menos lo esperé, esas personas aparecieron en mi camino para mejorar mi vida. Ya sabes que estoy hablando de vos #chiquitita. Gracias a todas las personas que hicieron que todo esto haya sido de la mejor manera posible y ojalá que alguna vez todos nos volvamos a reunir porque la verdad es que todo esto ha sido una bendición y no puedo pedir algo mejor.

I thank God in the first place, for all the ups and downs that he put on my way to get here, for always being my strength, and for sending me to such a special class. Thanks to my parents and mamá Toña for supporting me in all my plans. Mamá Violeta: por ser mi modelo a seguir, por enseñarme a que tengo que ser la mejor en lo que haga siempre y cuando me esfuerce y tenga a Dios presente. Class of 2019 ha sido la mejor experiencia con la mejor clase, disfruten y aprovechen todas las oportunidades.

Al fin nos graduamos!, estos cuatro años en Nicaragua han sido llenos de recuerdos inolvidables, y experiencias únicas. Tuve el privilegio de compartir tantos momentos y recuerdos con un grupo de amigos muy especial para mi, a los cuales quiero bastante y los aprecio muchísimo, aunque tuvimos altos y bajos siempre nos levantamos unidos como una manada de “Perros”. Estoy muy contento de haber tenido el privilegio de sentarme en la famosa “mesa roja”, donde no solo conocí a mis mejores amigos, ahí fue donde encontré mi segunda familia, mis hermanos SFC. Quiero darles las gracias a mis profesores por haberme enseñado más allá de lo académico, por haberme dado consejos y ayudarme a mejorar cada dia. Por último, gracias a mis papás y familia por haber estado presente y brindarme su apoyo en cada paso que di, cada decisión que tomé, y por todo el apoyo incondicional que me han dado. ¡Lo hicimos! Logramos terminar esta etapa tan fundamental en nuestras vidas. Gracias a mis padres por su apoyo incondicional y los innumerables consejos que me dan, a la clase del 2019 por los recuerdos inolvidables y las amistades duraderas que forjamos todos estos años. Porque soy de los estudiantes que ha estado en el colegio desde los 4 años de edad, es decir que voy a extrañarlo. Aquí conocí a personas que han moldeado mis principios y forjado mis valores. Profesores que me han enseñado que cada quien tiene una vocación y amigos que recordaré por siempre. Gracias a Dios por las oportunidades que nos presenta y el amor que nos brinda. Hay tantos recuerdos, y tantas cosas de importancia que me llevaron a este momento. Pero voy a hablar de lo más importante. Aunque ir a clases realmente no me gustaba, se que me preparó, pero mucho mejor aún, me juntó con gente muy especial y que aprecio mucho. Los Dogs (Joel, Carlos, Oscar, William, Marcelo, Roberto, Santos, George, Siles, Andres, Jenkins, Gustavo, Jose, Mario, Manuel, Octavio, Gabriel). Jamás voy a poder olvidarlos, y todos los momentos con ustedes, los amo con todo mi corazón. La mesa roja que nunca fallaba en sacar una risa. Yo se que de alguna manera u otra nos vamos a volver a reunir, y que de todas maneras vamos a estar en contacto siempre. Muchísimas gracias por ser los mejores amigos y dejarme ser un amigo para ustedes. Muchas gracias a la Sofía mi bbluv por quererme tanto, te amo (syps). Que viva Pelonchis. También al resto de los Seniors, sepan que tuvieron un impacto en mi vida y que los aprecio a todos/todas. Quiero darles gracias a mi papa y mama. Son personas increíbles que han logrado grandes cosas y me han inspirado en todos los sentidos. Gracias por haberme dado todo el apoyo del mundo, los amo muchísimo. Primero que todo, quisiera agradecerle a Dios, por su infinitas bendiciones y amor, que, gracias a él, experimento todos los días. A mi papá, que me apoyó en todo. Tantas charlas, y consejos que me dejaste aturdido, sin tu esfuerzo y tu apoyo no lo hubiera podido lograr. A mi mamá, le doy gracias a Dios por este ser humano. Aunque hincaste y hincaste, lo hiciste con la mejor intención y amor ma. Nana, sin tu humor, risas, y sabiduría yo no sería la misma persona. Me enseñaste a ser fuerte, responsable, y bacanal. Viva el grupo G y el popcorn chicken. Oca, porque a través de las peleas y regaños, descubrí que esa era tu manera de enseñarme tu amor. Porque al fin y al cabo siempre me llevaste de la mano. VALE, Bff, Rober, Nana, Isas, Danielle, Josan, Marsela, Kat, Alan, William, Meus y a mi PAPAA, Susa, Gemelos B y V, Carlos, Oscar, Clau y Kam. Los quiero muchísimo. Por más viajes juntos, jodederas a Daniela, displays de la dragonuv, picos entre… y más. A los perros, por más risas, reuniones, y por el último semestre en esa mesa, para que no anden jodiendo diciendo que nunca me senté ahí. A los SENIORS, los quiero muchísimo. Hicieron este año, como los otros once, inigualable. Gracias por darme la mejor experiencia y compañía posible. No lo hubiera tenido de ninguna otra manera.

Solo pongo este quote porque es peliculón xdxd. Ya poniéndome serio Quiero empezar agradeciéndole a Dios y a mi familia por su apoyo incondicional. Rubén, gracias por estar ahí siempre, sos el mejor hermano que cualquiera pudiera tener (te manda saludos Rigo). Le quiero agradecer a los dogs (Carlos, George, Joel, sheriff, Siles, Emiliano, Andrés, Sirker, Gustavo, Manuel, Octavio, Jenkins, Oscar, William, Rigo) por hacer mis años en el colegio inolvidables. Agradezco cada aventura que viví con ustedes (aunque algunas involucraron problemas) no me arrepiento de ninguna de ellas porque aprendimos y gozamos de todas. Cerrar este capítulo de mi vida significa dejar mucho atrás… como los chilleos con George, los itzvaneros, las risas en la mesa roja, Steve, bunnies, bacanurri, mi mejor amigo Roberto, aunque mucho friega y muchas otras cosas. Following the Socratic Method in the classroom, waking Marcelo up at the end of most class periods, and sitting during lunch in the same old, blue table as my friends and I laugh about the weekend, I realize I don’t really know the answer to this question. What I do know is that no matter if my thirteen-year long physical journey to Lincoln has ceased, it will walk with me wherever I go. Thank you Lincoln for being a home to me. For teaching me to be humble and respectful with my teachers, for exposing me in a stage and force me to develop public speaking skills, for inclining me to the value of service, and most importantly, for fostering my faith. So no, it is not over. It will never be. It is a decision I take: Lincoln is a part of me and I will proudly be a living example of its values. Now that this seemingly endless journey is tip-toeing the stop-line, I’m confident I’m ready for this next voyage.

Hemos llegado al final de esta primera etapa de la vida y me siento muy orgulloso al ser parte de este gran momento. Doy gracias a Dios por permitirnos vivir este momento a pesar de las adversidades que nos ha tocado sobrellevar en este nuestro último año, doy gracias a mis padres porque el estar hoy aquí es gracias al esfuerzo de cada día, gracias por enseñarme que la vida es de nuevos retos, metas y que todo es posible si me lo propongo. Estos últimos años del colegio han sido los más difíciles y a la vez los mejores. Las clases están cada vez más complicadas y la motivación va bajando. Uno ya no encuentra qué hacer con esto y prefiere solo dejar de trabajar. Así pasa siempre. Pero después de todo eso, cuando ya crees que tenés todo listo para terminar el colegio, es cuando te acordas de todo lo que vas a dejar atrás. Te acordas de tu familia y de tus amigos. En los buenos momentos y en los malos. Quiero agradecerles a todos los que han sido parte de mi vida. A los Gang Itzbang, que han sido más que solo mis compañeros de soccer por los últimos 4 años. A los Perros de las Tinieblas/ Pingüinos/cualquiera de los 10 nombres que ha habido, por todas esas risas, que siempre están en la mesa roja listos para contar una buena historia, pero para otro día. Al Support Group, que ha estado apoyándome desde el comienzo de high school y me ha ayudado bastante con todos mis trabajos. Especialmente quería agradecerle a mi mama y a mi papá, por estar ahí siempre apoyándome y supervisándome para que nunca bajara mi rendimiento académico y que siempre sea responsable, algo que cada año se volvía más difícil lograr. A mis hermanas, que siempre me aguantan cuando las molesto y, aunque a veces me golpean por que pierden la paciencia, las quiero mucho. A mi mejor amigo/ hermano, que, aunque nos peleamos bastantes veces por estupideces, se que siempre va a estar ahí para apoyarme en lo que lo necesite. Ya estamos listos para entrar a una nueva etapa de nuestras vidas y espero que cada uno de nosotros se vaya acordándose de dónde viene, para que algún día nos volvamos a encontrar y podamos volver a ser los mismos de antes.

LIA College Signing Day, hosted by schools, organizations, and community leaders around the world to celebrate senior studentsâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; choice in making a commitment to higher education. Each of our seniors has â&#x20AC;&#x153;signed inâ&#x20AC;? or has committed to attending the college of their choice. Most of them, made that commitment on May 1st of this year. We are very proud of them, for they have prepared themselves since 9th grade and have worked very hard, not only academically but also holistically, to be where they are today, as accomplished and successful soon to be graduates.

On Friday May 31st, our Lincoln community offered a thanksgiving mass to honor the great achievements obtained by our seniors. Our 37 seniors were joined by their friends and families. Celebrated by Monsignor Carlos Aviles, concelebrated by Monsignor Miguel Mantica and our school chaplains Julio Arana, and Leonel Alfaro.

On Saturday June 8th, Lincoln International Academy of the Holy Family held the 26th Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2019. Thirtyseven senior students graduated with the High School Diploma and the Nicaraguan Bachillerato.

We would like to congratulate the graduates for their outstanding college acceptance (113 acceptances into 75 prestigious colleges and universities in 8 different countries) and 9.1 million dollars in scholarship and financial aid for their four years of college. The graduates also set a new record in community service hours with 9,702 hours accumulated in four years of high school.

CSW, February 3 - 8, 2019. We lived a great catholic schools week! It was a week of spiritual unity with our community.

Starting on Sunday, we went to our parish Santo Cristo de las Colinas, participated during the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. masses with our altar boys, reading and afterwards offering a bake sale for the parish deeds. On Monday, we held a general mass offered as our opening and thanks giving, to make our maintenance staff feel special. On Tuesday, the rally was unforgettable! Our whole student/faculty community coming together as a family, having fun and sharing an awesome experience together! On Wednesday, we celebrated teacher’s appreciation day! Our students recognized our teachers’ hard work! On Thursday, the best event... The Most Blessed Sacrament visited every area of our school. On Friday, all teachers had their spiritual day, this year we had the special participation of Father Leonel Alfaro.

Safe Environment Program parade On October 31st, students of all ages parade through the hallways of the school to celebrate the Safe Environment Program.

Thanksgiving Dinner is a theme party celebration offered by the Board of Directors to honor the teachers and staff members of the LIA Community. This is an opportunity to thank God for everything He gives us, for our teachers work and dedication and for our families. Teachers and members of LIA staff enjoy a very special meal prepared by the cafeteria staff and have the opportunity to win various prizes by playing games and by participating in the many contests of the night.

Preschool Thanksgiving Celebration A long time ago, the Pilgrims had a harvest feast together with their Native American friends. Today, we celebrate Thanksgiving at school and many families also celebrate at their homes. To commemorate that family tradition, Preschool students gave thanks to God for all the blessings they received and shared their Thanksgiving lunch with teachers and classmates. They presented a poem, a song or a dance to all PK parents who could join us for the celebration.

Objetivos específicos 1. Que los niños y niñas de Elementary School “Sean luces de esperanza, que tengan una visión positiva de la realidad, que den aliento a la generosidad que caracteriza a los jóvenes, que sean protagonistas de la construcción de un mundo mejor, protagonistas del cambio”como ha dicho nuestro Papa Francisco. 2. Enseñar a los niños y niñas de Elementary School “valores inmateriales que son el corazón espiritual”, sembrando en ellos principios Cristianos que puedan aplicar en el día a día de sus vidas, desarrollando la capacidad de preguntarse en momento críticos “¿Qué haría Cristo en mi lugar?”. 3. Enseñarles a los niños y niñas de Elementary School que sean agradecidos y valoren las bendiciones que han recibido. 4. Fomentar en los niños y niñas de Elementary School la sensibilidad ante las necesidades de los demás, especialmente las necesidades de niños de su misma edad. Porque queremos que vivan como verdaderos cristianos de una forma práctica y no textual, demostrando con la acción nuestro propósito. 5. Despertar y desarrollar en los niños desde muy pequeños el espíritu de servicio, de solidaridad, de amor, que El Señor Jesús nos pide.

The primary mission of ANF is to acquire the necessary resources to reduce the impact of poverty in the lives of the poorest and most vulnerable areas of the country. These resources are provided by local partners who search for a better future for Nicaragua. We are focused in the area of education, working side by side with “La Escuelita San Francisco Javier”, while public education is free in Nicaragua, lack of money continues to be the most common reason for not attending school among poor families, we help them by providing them sanitary services and school supplies. Besides working in the school, we help in annual events such as the gala and the run “Huellas de Esperanza”. We also pay visits at the retirement home in Granada. We work together with other clubs to bring joy to these amazing people, doing activities such as bingo, pinata and giving them a feast of food.

This year because of NicaraguaÂ´s situation, we were not able to have a functioning club. When the need arose and we received a call from Aproquen needing our help for a young patient in the hospital named Flavio, we immediately responded. Luckily Mrs. Veronica Cardenal the club Advisor and our last club President Felipe Vogel from the Class of 2018 was in town and they were able to give a check of U$500 dollars which they had saved in the club account. 165

Hogar La Mascota Our service learning club is about demonstrating a sense of empathy to children who have been diagnosed with cancer. Through our Catholic faith-based learning, the members of the club are engaged in various opportunities which allow them to give back to our community. With the purpose of helping these children live a better life, 7th graders organize fund raising activities to raise money, which is then donated to the shelter.

She’s the First is an international organization that aims to give the opportunity to girls in third world countries get the education they deserve. Through education, these girls can take their families out of poverty; our scholars are often the first in their families to attend school. Chapters throughout the world aim towards raising $400, which is what it takes to provide an education for one girl. One of the fundraising campaigns that are held throughout the year is the #BakeAChange campaign, in which chapters bake tie-dye cupcakes, or any kind of baked good, and sell it to collect funds. It is held during the month of October, and as well as raising money, it works to create awareness about girls’ education.

HOSPITAL LA MASCOTA El objetivo principal del club La Mascota es brindarle alegría, diversión y ánimo a los niños del hospital infantil “La Mascota”. La vida de estos niños es difícil ya que lidian con enfermedades que en algunas ocasiones suelen ser de gran gravedad. Regalarles un momento de diversión es los menos que se merecen estos niños por la batalla que van luchando. Hogar San Antonio The retirement home Hogar San Antonio is located in Masaya. It functions under the supervision of the order of Hermanas Josefinas, who provide service and healthcare assistance to more than 30 residents. With the help of kind hearted individuals, the center offers complete care to all its residents. Eighth grade students are part of various fundraising activities throughout the year such as the Christmas Bazaar, CSW Rally, and the Kermesse to raise funds in order to purchase food and personal hygiene products for the residents of the center.
