Jason Gym, Home of the Blue Tigers Jason Hall was originally built in 1958. Over the years, an addition was made to the front of the building, along with several other minor renovations. The first phase of the Jason Hall renovation took place with an installation of a new HVAC system, a new basketball court and bleacher system. In 2008, the second phase addressed safety issues within the building, such as updating the sprinkler system. The Physical Education department received a new office complex, complete with private offices and a conference room. New audio/visual equipment was also installed in the PE classrooms. The coaches' offices were also renovated to allow for more privacy. The locker rooms were completely redone and a new weight room with state-of-the-art equipment was constructed. The restrooms, ticket booth and concessions area were also remodeled. Finally, a new Daktronics scoreboard was installed in the gym to allow fans the chance to see up to the second player points and other stats.

Kiki Glass enters her third season as the Lincoln women’s basketball team’s assistant coach in 2018-19. In her first year with the program, Glass helped lead a rebuilding LU squad into postseason contention, as the Blue Tigers just missed the conference tournament on the final day of the season. Lincoln swept Lindenwood, a team that ultimately advanced to the MIAA Semifinals, that season. The Blue Tigers continued their progression in 2017-18, as LU improved in many defensive statistical categories. Glass spent five seasons as an assistant coach at USC Upstate, helping to recruit nine players for the Spartans’ first season at the NCAA Division I level in 2007-08. Glass worked primarily with the guards and developed several players who helped quickly turn USC Upstate into a winning program, including Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year Tee’Ara Copney and Atlantic Sun scoring champion Courtney Hawkins. Her work as both a coach and a recruiter helped the Spartans increase their win total each season, from five wins in its first year as a DI program to 20 in 2009-10.

Kiki Glass

Assistant Coach 2nd Season at LU 2nd Season Overall

Following the 2009-10 season, Glass left USC Upstate to coach with her mentor, Kathy Washington, at basketball programs at Therrell High and Grady High in Atlanta, Ga. Glass helped manage all aspects of both programs until Washington retired earlier this spring. Prior to joining the coaching staff at USC Upstate, Glass spent four years playing at NCAA Division I Western Carolina, leading the school to its first-ever berth in the Southern Conference championship game in 2003-04. As a sophomore in 2002-03, Glass helped the Catamounts win a season-record 21 games, and during her freshman season she made the Southern Conference All-Freshman team. During her senior campaign in 2004-05, Glass averaged a team-high 3.2 assists as she led Western Carolina to 18 victories and a trip to the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship tournament. Glass also enjoyed a stellar high school career, earning all-conference and all-state honors at North Atlanta High. Glass was also named the Atlanta All-City Player of the Year twice and the North Georgia Player of the Year as a junior. During that junior season, Glass led North Atlanta High to the 3A State Championship. Glass was also a two-time Street & Smith All-American honorable mention and, in 2001, led her AAU team to a runner-up finish at the AA National Championships. Glass graduated from Western Carolina in 2005 with a bachelor of science degree in accounting and marketing.

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY 2018-19 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL MEDIA GUIDE

Entering his fifth year with the Blue Tigers, John Moseley was elevated to the position of Lincoln University’s Director of Athletics in April of 2016. Moseley had previously spent the 2015-16 season as the department’s Interim Director of Athletics. During that time, Moseley helped lead the Blue Tigers by strengthening partnerships in the Jefferson City community and assisting in the creation of the Blue Tiger Athletics Club, the main fundraising arm of Lincoln athletics. Following three of the most successful seasons in recent memory, Moseley will also enter his fifth season as the head coach of the Lincoln men’s basketball team in 2018-19. In the 2016-17 season, Moseley directed a Blue Tiger squad that won 17 games, its highest victory total in 15 years, and earned a road victory over Lindenwood in the first round of the MIAA Men’s Basketball Championship. It marked the second-consecutive season that LU won a postseason game. Moseley reloaded the team in 2017-18, leading a squad consisting mainly of new players to a third-straight winning season and postseason appearance. Three members of that team earned All-MIAA recognition, with Terrence Smith earning all-league third team honors. Moseley, who also has a wealth of experience at the NCAA Division I level, joined Lincoln after spending the previous four years at North Carolina Central University, including three as the team’s associate head coach. Working with head coach LeVelle Moton, Moseley helped lead the Eagles to a 28-6 record, tying the program record for wins in a season, and both the regular season and tournament MidEastern Athletic Conference championships. NCCU earned a No. 14 seed in the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship, where the Eagles fell in the second round to No. 3 Iowa State. A 1998 graduate of East Carolina University, Moseley returned to his alma mater in 2008 to serve as the program’s Director of Basketball Operations. In 2009, Moseley was promoted to assistant basketball coach, serving as the recruiting organizers. In both of his years with the Pirates, ECU posted double digit wins. Prior to coaching at East Carolina, Moseley was an assistant coach at Winston-Salem State University in 2007-08, where helped lead the team to its most Division I victories in program history. Before that, Moseley made a one-year stop at Wright State University, working as an administrative assistant on a Raiders team that won Horizon League regular season and tournament championships. Moseley’s teams have enjoyed success at every one of his stops, and he has proven he can win at multiple levels of competition. Moseley was the head basketball coach at Warren County High in Warrenton, N.C. from 2004-06, leading the program to its first state championship in 23 years. Moseley has a bachelor’s degree in science, exercise and sport science as well as a master’s degree in education and athletic administration. Moseley and his wife, Crystal, have a daughter, Jillian.

John Moseley Athletic Director

A long-time Blue Tiger, Betty Kemna begins her fourth season as Lincoln University’s Senior Women’s Administrator in 2018-19. Kemna handles all of the NCAA compliance matters for each of LU’s 12 Division II programs and is also the advisor for Lincoln’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee. Kemna spent the previous six years as Lincoln’s athletic director. During that span, Kemna implemented many internal changes within the program, including adding a corporate sponsorship program, beginning a department Hall of Fame and creating several new staff positions to improve the overall gameday experience. Kemna became Lincoln’s athletic director on July 1, 2009, after serving as assistant athletic director for compliance for the previous four years. Kemna was no stranger to Lincoln before then, however, as she was a softball player for the Blue Tigers prior to becoming LU’s head softball coach/concession coordinator in 1997.

Betty Kemna

In 1999, Kemna took on additional duties as the department’s Senior Women’s Administrator, and was named the compliance coordinator in 2003. Kemna completely turned around the compliance department, leading the institution through a five-year probation period that was a result of violations prior to her appointment. In 2005, she was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance. During the 2007-2008 academic year she served as Interim Athletic Director while still conducting her duties as Assistant AD for Compliance.

Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance/ SWA

Kemna also oversaw many improvements to the athletic program, including the institution of live internet streaming of Lincoln sporting events and improving the facilities. Kemna also worked with the Blue Tiger Quarterback Club to add a state-of-the-art weight room, giving Lincoln’s athletes two such facilities on campus. A 1996 graduate of Lincoln University, Kemna has a Bachelor of Science in Education. She also earned a master’s in education in athletic administration from William Woods University in 2006.

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY 2018-19 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL MEDIA GUIDE

Since 2003, few teams in any sport have achieved the level of success enjoyed by the Lincoln women’s track & field team. The Blue Tigers continued the dynasty in March of 2018, when Lincoln won the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field national title. Winners of 13 total national championships over the past 15 years, including five-straight NCAA Division II outdoor titles from 2003-2007, the Blue Tiger track & field program was honored in 2013 by being inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. Lincoln has established itself as one of the top track & field programs in all of NCAA Division II, with the men's team also taking third at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships. Both the LU men and women won MIAA championships in indoor track & Field in 2016, with the men taking the title during the 2017 outdoor season en route to finishing as the national runner-up at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The Lincoln men's golf team has also experienced the feeling of winning a championship recently, as the Blue Tigers have won seven PGA Minority Collegiate National Championship Division II tournaments. An annual golf tournament sponsored by the PGA and open to all HBCU men's golf programs, Lincoln posted wire-to-wire victories at the championship in 2013 and 2014. In 2015, Blake Lammers continued the tradition by becoming the individual champion at the PGA Minority Collegiate Championship. In 2016, Lammers also was the individual titleist at the MIAA Championships and became the first Blue Tiger to qualify for the NCAA region since current coach Aaron Murphy accomplished the feat in 2009. Over the past seven years, 10 of Lincoln's 12 athletic programs have qualified for some form of postseason competition. In 2011-12, the LU women's basketball team came within eight points of playing in the MIAA tournament championship game. In 2013, Twishana Williams became the only female runner in the MIAA to earn All-American honors. The men's basketball program has made the postseason in each of the past three years while Sedeekie Edie won the indoor national championship in the long jump in both 2016 and 2018.

The women's track & field team won its 12th national championship in 2016.

Blake Lammers won the PGA Minority Collegiate Championship in 2015 and the MIAA title in 2016.

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY 2018-19 WOMEN'S BAKSETBALL MEDIA GUIDE

History of Lincoln University At the close of the Civil War, soldiers and officers of the 62nd United States Colored Infantry, stationed at Fort McIntosh, Texas, but composed primarily of Missourians, took steps to establish an educational institution in Jefferson City, Missouri, which they named Lincoln Institute. The following stipulations were set for the school: 1. The institution shall be designed for the special benefit of the freed African-Americans; 2. It shall be located in the state of Missouri; 3. Its fundamental idea shall be to combine study and labor. Members of the 62nd Colored Infantry contributed $5,000; this was supplemented by approximately $1,400, given by the 65th Colored Infantry. On January 14, 1866, Lincoln Institute was formally established under an organization committee. By June of the same year, it incorporated and the committee became a Board of Trustees. Richard Baxter Foster, a former first lieutenant in the 62nd Infantry, was named first principal of Lincoln Institute. On September 17, 1866, the school opened its doors to the first class in an old frame building in Jefferson City. In 1869, Lincoln Institute moved to the present campus, and in 1870 it began to receive aid from the state of Missouri for teacher training. College-level work was added to the curriculum in 1877, and passage of the Normal School Law permitted Lincoln graduates to teach for life in Missouri without further examination. Lincoln Institute formally became a state institution in 1879 with the deeding of the property to the state. Under the second Morrill Act of 1890, Lincoln became a land grant institution, and the following year industrial and agricultural courses were added to the curriculum. In 1921, the Missouri Legislature passed a bill introduced by Walthall M. Moore, the first black American to serve in that body, which changed the name from Lincoln Institute to Lincoln University and created a Board of Curators to govern the University. The North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools accredited the high school division in 1925, the teacher-training program in 1926, and the four-year college of arts and sciences in 1934. Graduate instruction was begun in the summer session of 1940, with majors in education and history and minors in English, history, and sociology. A School of Journalism was established in February 1942. In 1954, the United States Supreme Court handed down its ruling in Brown v. Board of Education, and Lincoln University responded by opening its doors to all applicably meeting its entrance criteria. Today, Lincoln University serves a diverse clientele, both residential and non-residential, engages in a variety of research projects, and offers numerous public service programs in addition to providing an array of academic programs.
