I was new to online scrapping since Apr 2009. There are so many sites. My name is Bev Code and I have been scrapping about 4+ years. I am a wife, mother and gramma that loves being retired and now have time to scrap to my heart's content. I love scrapbooking along with fun things it entails with online friends, forums and FB. The learning process has been interesting and creative also. Other crafts I love also are needlepoint, sewing, knitting, crochet and taking lots of photos. Family and friends are the subjects of my scrapping along with nature, ancestry and vacation sites. I live in Conestogo, Ontario and spend some time in Florida where I take my scrapping with me for the extended time. Now, let me show you what I did with this month’s Shabbylicious Mixed Stitch Kit!

Starting with a white background, I mask the clock using the Versa Magic dew drop chalk ink. Below the clock I used an embossing file that I put ink on and just pressed down on the paper. Then using the dew drop shape of the chalk ink pad, I randomly inked the petals to form a flower. In this section you can also see the fun key tied with ribbon.

In this section I hand cut the chevron shapes which I doodle stitched using Staedtler black ink pen. Lots of fun layers of paper from the 6x6 paper pad in the kit. Also, a layer from the stencil pieces (stars and baby) which also come in the kit.

The super fun alpha letters complete the page well.

Next, I created a super easy but cute card with a fun , altered style and an easy to make butterfly. Instructions: Fold the base card outer wings to center; cut pieces to add to the side panels; either the same print or mix it up like I did. Also, find a fun front accent and size it to fit. Trace and hand cut to prepare a hand stenciled butterfly using a fun print. Cut and ink edges.

Ink the edges of the butterfly and accordion fold in tiny segments.

Tie the center with twine and leave a short length for the feelers.

Assemble all the pieces and add the butterfly.

What a fun, cute card, and it was so easy!

Creating another fun card with an easy technique — using chalk ink and masking tape. Follow the technique pictured below to make the card base. Let it dry, then finish the card as seen here.

Lots of fun layers, borders, fussy cut doily and banner sections. Decorate adding ink to the edges and use alpha letters for the XO!

I hope I’ve inspired you to try some of these techniques.

Abby Henderson, Oregon Design Team Kit Designer Hi everyone, I'm Abby aka ScrappinAbby and I live in the beautiful green state of Oregon. I'm happily married to someone who I can truly say is my best friend, Steve. He is also my Number One Fan as he does nothing but support me in my crafting. I'm a proud mom to two wonderful kids, Tre' who is 18 and Kaley is who is 14. I'm also the proud owner of a very spoiled mini Dachshund, Bella. I am a lover of paper, canvas and all things crafty & I am obsessed with the color purple. I've always been a crafter but I started scrapbooking 18 years ago when I had my son and it has grown into a full blown obsession for me and I haven't looked back since. I love making albums (mini etc.), board books, cards, LO's, altered items and pretty much anything I can scrap up! I love crafting & the friendships that are created from this wonderful world of paper, stamps & inks. I craft every single day...it's my therapy for sure and I love nothing more than being surrounded & inspired by all the wonderful scrappy items in my craft room and getting inky!

“There is so much inspiration jam packed into this ‘shabbylicious’ album! You can keep coming back to these pictures for more and imore deas! Great job Abby!”

To finish off the baby gift, I just had to create a coordinating card!

Wood blocks are a great way to feature some of your favorite photos! Here is a wood block that I decorated with some pictures of my nieces adorable newborn, Robert.

Make Your Own Journal! Looking for a quick, fun project to do with the kids this summer? Why not have them decorate their own journal? For this one I used a $1 composition notebook. While decorating the outside, protect it with wax paper laid in between the inside covers. Here’s a step-by-step of how I created this one. 1. Paint a couple coats of acrylic paint over the entire front and back covers. Let dry. 2. Use DecoArt Decoupage to adhere a small paper doily. Remember to coat the glue both over and under the doily. Let dry. 3. Use a coordinating acrylic paint color to randomly stencil your favorite shape/design (I did hearts). 4. Cut apart the My Mind’s Eye Chalkboard Journal Card and adhere with decoupage. 5. Use the LB butterfly stencil to draw and cut out a butterfly with your favorite designer paper. Ink the edges of the butterfly and use a hot glue gun to adhere it to the journal cover. For butterflies, I only glue down the center to let the wings have natural dimension. Hot glue the key to the center of your butterfly. 6. Use any type of background stamps with archival ink randomly all over the journal cover. 7. Get out your white gel ink pen and doodle your heart out! The only rule is that there aren’t any rules! 8. Want to use your journal to create art? Here’s a tip you can use for any type of notebook. To strengthen the inside pages, simply glue 3-4 pages together. Then you can apply gesso or acrylic paint to each page as a base for your works of art!

For this last project I used a Linnie Blooms 8-1/2x11 Canvas Blank. The background was colored with Faber-Castell Gelatos. Items were drawn and cut out of the kit paper and adhered with Decoupage. I love my working “washline girl”! Not comfortable drawing? Use stencils or stamps!

I hope you enjoyed this month’s kit projects! Bev, Abby and I had a blast creating them. See you next month!
