A Message from Our Sunset Principal – Brenda Farmer Sunset Families: Happy New Year to everyone! I’m sure looking forward to 2014 at Sunset School. We ended 2013 with fun and great success, along with momentum heading into the New Year. Once again I was struck by the tremendous generosity of our school community. We helped so many families with all the donations of canned food and candy cane sales; our Sunset family humbles me. Sunset 5th graders participated in the annual district hockey tournament on the last day before break. I must let all parents know that our students again showed they were students of character and grace. They came in second, played hard, and wished the winning team the best. They were truly students who shine. The holiday season took our students to the community in several music venues. AGAIN the way Sunset students hold themselves to a higher standard is incredible. Thanks to each one and to Miss Pinney for the hard work and wonderful music. The Drumming Group will be performing this Wednesday at the Senior Center and on Saturday at the Park County Library. Try to get by and hear them, you will be amazed. First Trimester Celebrations were exciting. Congratulations to all students receiving awards. I’ve heard a lot of positive remarks concerning the way the celebrations were conducted. It was great to see the students so involved and enjoying the celebration so much. New Year’s Resolution! The beginning of a new year is a good time for your child to buckle down and work hard academically. Without the distractions of the holidays and with a good block of uninterrupted school ahead, your child should be able to make real growth. Please take this opportunity to set up a regular schedule for homework and bedtime. Talk with your child about your expectations for their academic growth; build in some time to go over their homework. Let your child know how much you value their hard work. In addition, getting your child to school every day and on time is one of the most valuable things you can do to help your child succeed. Thanks everyone for the support of Sunset school.

Sincerely, Mrs. Farmer
