Arctic wildlife is as diverse and fascinating as the region itself. As summer unfolds, the landscapes churn with life, drawing travelers here for the chance to witness these creatures in their natural realm. From the sea to the sky to the frozen tundra, prepare for encounters of the wildest kind.
Clockwise from top left: Arctic terns migrate annually from pole to pole; spotting a polar bear with her cubs is among nature’s most special moments; the white coat of the Arctic fox morphs into brown in the summer to blend with the landscape; a walrus swimming in Svalbard; reindeer are uniquely adapted to year-round life on the tundra; Iceland harbors more than half the world’s puffins.
