EXPLORE YOUR WAY EVERY DAY

Each expedition offers excursions for every skill level so that you can explore your way—and at your own pace—every day.

Guests on the bow of the National Geographic Sea Bird, Misty Fjords National Monument, Southeast Alaska.

National Geographic and Lindblad Expeditions are united in a shared mission to take curious travelers deeper into wild and storied places that paint a richer picture of the world.

TAKE GREAT PHOTOS WITH THE PROS

National Geographic Photography Experts have spent decades traveling the globe, capturing the world’s most impactful images. They join select expeditions, and a National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions certified photo instructor joins every departure, helping travelers hone their camera skills in captivating places.

INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION OF EXPLORERS

The National Geographic Global Explorers program nurtures the next generation of global stewards in fun and fascinating places. Certified field educators help kids connect with nature in a deeper way, sending them home with a passion for the planet that lasts a lifetime.

EXPEDITIONS THAT GIVE BACK

Every voyage that sets sail contributes to the preservation of the planet through the Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic Fund. Your support helps conserve coastal communities and marine habitats—and it funds explorers from the National Geographic Society who are envisioning bold changes for a sustainable future.

THE

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC-

LINDBLAD EXPEDITIONS FLEET BUILT FOR AWE

The small ships in the National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions U.S. fleet are designed for up-close experiences in the planet’s wildest places. On the Pacific Coast of North America, that may mean navigating narrow fjords to old-growth rainforests, visiting uninhabited islands to stroll atop coastal bluffs, and slipping past shifting sandbars to anchor in serene lagoons rich with marine life. The U.S.-flagged ships are not required to make customs stops in domestic destinations, allowing you more time to explore.

Thoughtful amenities and features accentuate your surroundings and allow you to enjoy your time on board in supreme comfort. Expansive open decks offer a prime platform for taking in views of sapphire seas and charismatic creatures, while gracious gathering spaces foster the camaraderie that is the hallmark of these expeditions. Each vessel is stocked with a fleet of Zodiacs that allows you to sail without being dependent on ports or piers, while kayaks and paddleboards let you glide into secluded inlets to watch sea lions at play or brown bears feeding on salmon.

Discovery continues during downtime, when you are often invited to join expedition team members in the lounge for compelling talks on the region’s natural and cultural history. Meals are inspired by regional fare, with ingredients sourced through sustainable seafood and regional produce programs, giving you a taste of North America’s wild bounty with every bite.

SAVOR THE FLAVORS OF YOUR DESTINATION

Sampling local cuisine is a highlight of your ship experience, and the culinary riches of your destination are infused into every meal you enjoy on board. In North America, National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions has cultivated sustainable farm-to-table programs that draw from the freshest ingredients while also supporting local agriculture and seafood industries.

DELICIOUS FOOD, SUSTAINABLY SOURCED

Along North American coastlines, the convergence of rich waters and fertile valleys gives rise to a culinary bounty that you can savor throughout your journey. Ship chefs provision vessels while sailing, shopping at farms for fresh and sustainable ingredients. A Food Alliance Supply Chain Ally certification ensures that dishes are derived from humanely raised animals and that regional wildlife habitats are protected in food production, while a Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch certification means that your seafood is harvested in environmentally responsible ways.

For guests, these certifications and relationships with local purveyors translate to menus that are unique to each departure and crafted from what is fresh at the very moment you are on the water. Culinary experiences also extend to your time on shore, with opportunities to meet farmers and fishers and to forge even deeper connections with local food cultures.

CULINARY JOURNEYS ALONG THE COLUMBIA AND SNAKE RIVERS

Following the success of the inaugural journeys with Food & Wine along the Columbia and Snake Rivers, National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions will once again team up with the iconic culinary brand in 2025 and 2026 to enjoy the region’s best wines on a pair of enticing voyages. Travelers will have their choice of a six- or eight-day itinerary, each focused on exploring the sustainable food and wine movements that thrive in this fertile region.

Enjoy opportunities to sample more than 40 of the region’s best wines, personally selected by Food & Wine ’s Executive Wine Editor, Ray Isle. You’ll also travel in the company of a dedicated onboard wine expert and take private tours of onshore wineries alongside local vintners. Menus are guided by the rhythms of the season and feature sustainable ingredients sourced primarily from the Pacific Northwest.

CHANNEL ISLANDS

ABOVE AND BENEATH THE WAVES

A mere 12 miles from Los Angeles, the Channel Islands rank among the most biodiverse places on the planet, home to more than 2,000 species, 145 of them endemic. Here, National Geographic Photography Expert Rich Reid and Undersea Specialist James Coyer tell the stories of two rare island forests—one terrestrial, the other aquatic—that support the unique wildlife found in the “North American Galápagos.”

TERRESTRIAL TREASURES: TORREY PINES

Award-winning photographer Rich Reid is the director of expedition photography for National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions. He was a finalist for the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year for his time-lapse video documenting forest fire ecology.

“My favorite of the Channel Islands is Santa Rosa, which has unique desert landscapes like rolling sand dunes and steep canyons that hold a grove of endemic Torrey Pines—one of two such groves in the world. The Torrey Pines have a magical canopy of twisted branches and a floor covered in needles and cones. On expeditions, guests have lunch in the grove and are often treated to fantastic photo opportunities lit by the sun beaming through the trees.

“It’s a true privilege to visit this forest. It was once threatened by introduced animals—pigs, cows and elk—but these invasive species were removed a few decades ago, and the conservation efforts have saved native species. For instance, in 2004, there were only 15 endemic island foxes left on Santa Rosa; today, there are close to 2,600. The park service has done a remarkable job preserving this very rare ecosystem.“

UNDERWATER WONDERS: KELP FORESTS

Undersea Specialist James Coyer has a Ph.D. in marine biology from the University of Southern California and has spent nearly 50 years researching marine flora, including seaweed and seagrass species.

“Jacques Cousteau once said that the Channel Islands were among the most exciting and diverse places that he explored during his diving career. The archipelago has a range of oceanic regions—such as seagrass beds, submarine canyons and rocky reefs—and they determine which species of marine flora can grow. The environmental diversity here supports up to eight species of kelp, and the kelp beds nurture a profusion of life.

“Travelers encounter the kelp forests in different ways. Kayaks and Zodiacs bring them right up the kelp canopy that floats on the surface. They then see details of the underwater world—what’s beneath that canopy—through the videos that the undersea team produces.

“In the marine protected areas, there are bigger fish, all sorts of invertebrates, and more of the crustaceans that would normally be harvested. These protected areas are the perfect conservation model for supporting the wonderful world of kelp forests.“
