The National Geographic Global Explorers Program is an exclusive educational adventure for guests 18 and under. This hands-on, interactive program uses the natural world as a classroom in fascinating places, including Alaska and Galápagos. Onboard fi eld educators teach kids to explore like scientists through engaging activities, from learning to identify whale fl ukes to getting their Zodiac driver’s license.

Outside of the holiday season, it was rare for the Entwistle family to spend extended time with one another. So a milestone 40th birthday was the perfect excuse for adults and partners, grandparents and grandchildren—all ranging in age from 7 to 73—to gather in an enchanting location worthy of the occasion. They chose Alaska, “a remote place with an intimate and infi nite exposure to the landscape,” as Nell Entwistle describes it. “From happy hours recapping the day to fl ightseeing in Haines and gliding over everchanging glaciers, every detail big and small was fantastic. We experienced so many fi rsts with our happy, curious family.”
