A Dynamic Expedition Fleet

The small, nimble vessels in the Lindblad ExpeditionsNational Geographic fleet were designed to take travelers to the world’s most remote places, from Alaska to the Azores, inviting discovery in spots far beyond the docks where tourists congregate. Each ship is outfitted with kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and Zodiacs for up-close exploration at water level, while cutting-edge tools like hydrophones and SplashCams encourage further discovery on board the ship.

We also offer expeditions on a selection of elegantly appointed vessels, fully chartered for a private experience. Guests will enjoy Lindblad ExpeditionsNational Geographic programming aboard ships that are perfectly paired with their surroundings. Gaze at the Amazon from the teak decks and interiors of Delfin II or sail the Mediterranean aboard the stunning four-masted Sea Cloud as you become immersed in the splendor of a bygone era.

Unparalleled Onboard Experiences

Beautifully appointed cabins, suites, and common areas reflect the sights, sounds, and artistic traditions of your destination, and meals feature local cuisines and sustainable ingredients sourced directly from nearby lands and waters. Our wellness program connects you more deeply with your surroundings, whether you choose to greet the day with a yoga class on deck or unwind with a massage.

A Veteran Team

Every member of our staff—from our naturalists, photographers, and expedition leaders to our crew working behind the scenes—is committed to ensuring our guests have an unforgettable experience. Many are veteran guides who have worked with us for decades, chosen for their extensive knowledge of subjects like geology, wildlife biology, and history. They, along with the guest speakers who join us onboard, give rich context to the cultures and landscapes we encounter ashore.

Our state-of-the-art tools and knowledgeable guides help you make the most out of each excursion, so that when you encounter something that sparks your curiosity, you can explore it from every angle.

Take Great Photos with the Pros

A Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic certified photo instructor (CPI) joins each voyage to assist

travelers with everything from camera settings to composition. Every guest—from iPhone camera users to advanced hobbyists—can stand side by side with top photographers, pick up tips in the field, and return home with the photos of a lifetime.

In-Depth Undersea Program

Whether you’re sailing the turquoise waters of the Timor Sea or plying the ice-packed channels of the Arctic, our exclusive undersea program reveals the wonders hidden beneath the waves. GUEST IMPRESSIONS

The Entwistle Family

Wild Alaska Escape: Haines, the Inian Islands & Tracy Arm Fjord June 2022

Outside of the holiday season, it was rare for the Entwistle family to spend extended time with one another. So a milestone 40th birthday was the perfect excuse for adults and partners, grandparents and grandchildren—all ranging in age from 7 to 73—to gather in an enchanting location worthy of the occasion. They chose Alaska, “a remote place with an intimate and infinite exposure to the landscape,” as Nell Entwistle describes it. “From happy hours recapping the day to flightseeing in Haines and gliding over everchanging glaciers, every detail big and small was fantastic. We experienced so many firsts with our happy, curious family.”

A Seasonal Guide to Alaska

No matter when you visit, the grandeur of Alaska is on display—but different times of year hold a different kind of allure. This month-by-month guide reveals what makes each season special.

May/June

In the springtime, budding vegetation and colorful wildflowers set the stage for rare wildlife sightings, like harbor seal pups floating atop ice floes and hungry bears feeding on the shorelines posthibernation—sometimes with newborns in tow. Days continue to bloom with more life as they stretch into the season of the midnight sun.

July/Early-Mid August

Warm temperatures and longer daylight hours mean more chances to spot and observe wildlife, like breaching whales and wolves on the hunt. Summer is also the season when running salmon lure bald eagles and bears, and hiking trails are dotted with a bounty of wild berries ripe for picking.

Late August/September

Animals are still very active as preparation begins for hibernation and migration—which means foraging for bears and mobilizing among the local whale pods. Fall in Alaska is ephemeral but brilliant, as cottonwood turns golden yellow, fireweed burns a vibrant shade of red, and the northern lights can sometimes be spotted painting the night sky in neon.
