PROFICIENT IN:
I am very self-motivated, I aim to be a reliable asset to the team and strive to give my best. I am always looking for new unique opportunities that help further my career and hone my skills as a Graphic Designer by working with professionals in the creative industry. I was into Art and creativity for as long as I can remember. I always enjoyed drawing and scribbling whatever came to mind. In Graphic Design, creativity is used as a problem-solving tool, which I find very rewarding. Although primarily its a question of meeting the clients’ demands, as a Graphic Designer, I look for inspiration from various media. Ideas come in different forms and in the most unusual of places, which makes the creative industry even more interesting.

Embellishment design for the Nescafé® Dolce Gusto® Melody Coffee Machine
SCOPE OF WORK
Embellishment Design
ABOUT
Inspired by the Maltese traditional lace and filigree, as well as the tribal decorative art, I came up with this embellishment for the Nescafé Melody coffee machine. Following on to Nescafé’s tagline ‘coffee is not just black’, I came up with the artwork’s colour scheme; a black base with colour accents. With this design, I also took part in the first Euro Design Contest, also geld by Nescafé, where I was the first runner up out of all the European entries.

PROJECT
Interpreting a literary text through experimentation with typography and layout.
SCOPE OF WORK
Text interpretation through typography.
ABOUT
This is a typogrphic exercise were I literary text is chosen - in this case, a poem, and is reinterpreted visually by the use of typography. This is done by looking at the typeface style that is chosen, the shape of the letters as well as the space in which they are used. The poem retells the daily routine of an elderly lace weaver named Mananni - how she weaved lace with love and creativity whilst reminiscing about how her work will be displayed in the houses of the wealthy even after her passing, and progressing to her evening routine, describing her simple supper the simplicity in life is blissful.

REMINISCENCE, KANDINSKY 1913
TYPOGRAPHY
PROJECT
Interpreting a literary text through experimentation with typography and layout.
SCOPE OF WORK
Text interpretation through typography.
ABOUT
This was a typographic exercise where the meaning of the words and/or phrases could be understood through its typographic style. In addition, typographic experimentation, such as juxtaposition of font weights, experimenting with font sizes where explored in this exercise.
The piece I was to interpret was written by Kandinsky and it was about Moscow during the early years of Communism. I chose the Perpetua typeface to interpret this literature piece. The whole project is gathered in a font book.
Both pages:
Top left: Font book front cover.
Below: Various spreads from the font book.

Two posters inspired by the literary text.
Left: The phrase: ‘Pink. Lilac’ Yellow. White. Blue. Green. traces the perimeter of the Volga River, where numerous Russian soldiers lost there lives during WWII. The colours signify the individuality, yet the black and red colour scheme shows how the individuality was stripped from the troops as they where sent to war.
Right: Similarly to the other poster, the same phrase is used in the fill in the shape of the word ‘Красный’ , the Russian word for ‘Red’. Red was the colour used by the Communist regime.
