Strategic Edge N Nobel Biocare Tax-based Financial Planning for the Modern NobelActive Dr. MacLean will highlight how the NobelActive ™ system can be used to create amazing results. This Dental Practice presentation will follow a case presentation format to show the various applications of the NobelActive ™ Mark O’Farrell, BA, CFP, CLU, CHFC, TEP founded Strategic Edge to help dentists who pay too much implant. Dr. MacLean will discuss the diner ways to control outcome to illustrate the strengths of using a high tax. He has given more than a hundred seminars to dentists from Vancouver to St. John’s and from Juneau to Palm Springs, for dental societies and major dentistry suppliers. Using a tax-based approach, he can achieve outstanding results with conservative projections, and provides free financial practice analysis to all dentists in Canada. Mark believes that if you provide the education and relevant information with full disclosure, dentists can make their own well informed decisions. Strategic Edge works in concert, not in competition, with existing accountants and lawyers.

Wednesday, May 5, 2010 Micrylium Extraction & Immediate Implant Placement Bone Augmentation – The Next Generation Special Aseptic Considerations
Evening
Among the great challenges facing clinical research is the development of bioactive surgical additives regulating inflammation and increasing healing. Indeed, after each intervention, surgeons must face complex tissue remodelling phenomena and the consequences on healing and tissue survival. Every extraction is now an opportunity to prevent adjacent periodontal ligament damage and bone necrosis. Special aseptic considerations will be discussed as related to Implantology and sterilization including new advances in measurement and tracking with Instant read-out Class V integrators and RFID instrument trackers that will reduce exposure risks both biologically and legally. Dean Swift will examine the new vacuum Class B machines that are blossoming in the marketplace. Material presented will be a benefit for the entire staff.
Dean Swift, B.Sc., con. Biochemistry, Microbiology is a Materials Scientist and Educator with special interests in Biofilms and Toxicity. He is an original Fellow of the Academy of Dental Materials, a member of the IADR and Innovator’s Alliance. In addition to being Research Director at Micrylium Laboratories he is also a member of the iDAPT Toronto Rehab Research team. 6:30pm - 9:30pm • 2 points • Dinner Included Halifax Marriott Harbourfront (1919 Upper Water Street, Halifax, NS, B3J 3J5)

Friday, September 17, 2010 D Dental Marketers Effective Ways of Marketing
Full Day
Reinforce verbalizing with visual communication systems and ideas. • Educate patients effectively to elevate case acceptance. • Brand their practice professionally. • Enhance their professional image. • Create proper marketing materials to build their office from within. The Dental Experience… What are your retail competitors doing to cultivate and retain clients? • Opportunities and Benefits of Spa Dentistry. • Create “raving fans” amongst patients. • The “little things”, such as refreshments, cookies, games for the kids, and adults too! Headphones, flat screens, current magazines, blankets, hot towels, fresh cut flowers, scents, and a clean, professionally decorated facility! • Your team. Are they professional and caring? Do they smile? Are they enthusiastic about the business, and willing to encourage the growth potential? Do they genuinely care for the patients, the business and the owner?
Harold Merideth has gained experience in dental offices across North America over the past
fifteen years. It has been rewarding, interesting, and has become a key ingredient in his teaching others. Understanding the difficulties in owning, building and managing a dental office; then being able to explore opportunities in marketing that business in a time efficient, cost effective manner; is of great interest to most if not all dental owners and practitioners. Communication, education and marketing are very important ingredients in the development and growth of any business!

FFriday, December 17, 2010 V Vident CComplete Denture Occlusion: Magic or Preplanned?
Full Day
Fabrication of complete dentures may be the most complex dental treatment we provide. Every patient is a full mouth rehabilitation and extensive knowledge of oral anatomy, dental materials, patient management, occlusion and esthetics are required in order to fabricate a successful prosthesis. There is no “definitive” edentulous occlusal scheme for all patients, so the dentist and technician must be flexible in their occlusal philosophy. This lecture will review the problem of RRR (residual ridge resorption), maxillo-mandibular relationships and how that might affect your choice of an occlusal scheme for your complete denture patient. What is best, what do you do for a skeletal class II patient, class III patient, monoplane, balanced, lingualized, functionally generated path? A review of many accepted occlusal schemes and their documentation in the literature will be presented and discussed so that you might be able to select the most appropriate occlusion for the patient to best suit their needs and desires.
Robert L. Schneider, DDS, MS works at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Institute of Hospital Dentistry, Division of Prosthodontics and holds the rank of Professor, where he has a full time private practice. He has published extensively in the prosthodontic literature and is very active in many prosthodontic and dental laboratory organizations. Additionally, he lectures worldwide on many subjects addressing the clinical and laboratory phases of fixed, removable and implant prosthodontics. 8:30am - 4:30pm • 7 points • Breakfast, Lunch and Breaks Included Halifax Marriott Harbourfront (1919 Upper Water Street, Halifax, NS, B3J 3J5)
