with the best spills instantly replayed in slow motion,” said Matt Hornburg, the series CoCreator and Partner, marblemedia. “With oversized props, cool special effects and lively characters, it’s sure to be a highly-entertaining adventure.” marblemedia has a production ranch just north of Orangeville where they will be producing Splatalot. “What we found is that by working in a smaller community outside of downtown Toronto that we just tend to have a greater ease of doing business,” said Mr. Hornburg. “We’re able to hire a lot of local people to be involved in the production and in this case both in front and behind the camera as we look to finding local kids who can appear in the show and compete for prizes.” He commented that marblemedia is “looking for kids who want to be on television, are extremely enthusiastic, competitive, want to have a really fun great time and are willing to give it their all when they try and compete on this course.” The game show is geared to the 8- to 12year-old audience.

Splatalot will air on YTV in Canada, BBC in the U.K. and ABC in Australia with 26 episodes in the series. Three versions will be filmed and customized for the participating countries. Two hosts will be selected from all three countries’ places to comment on the contestants’ wipeouts and successes. “We’re very excited to be working with our longtime partner, Corus Entertainment, as well as with our new partners at the BBC and ABC, on this first-time multi-broadcaster collaboration,” said Mr. Hornburg. Each episode will feature a different group of 12 teen contestants seeking to come out on top of the competition. Contestants are dubbed Attackers, they will compete against each other in three different rounds: Cross the Moat, Storm the Castle and Steal the Crown. Six international,

medieval-themes gladiators, The Defenders of Splatalot, will be doing everything in their power to protect the castle from the contestants- Attackers. “What is kind of unique about our show as it relates to the kid audience is the fact that there is a lot of physical comedy involving real kids who can compete for prizes on a challenge course that is really the biggest of its kind in Canada,” said Mr. Hornburg.

According to Mr. Hornburg, the obstacle course is “pretty big.” In its entirety it stands just under four stories high and covers roughly 200 square feet. The production crew is currently in the process of designing and building all the props and obstacles. Participants will be running into some really abstract obstacles on this course. “We’d like for it to be a surprise, but what I can

The athleticallyinclined will be welcome to try their prowess on a rock climbing wall, test their aim in the paintball tent, or.learn how to juggle. Pony rides, petting zoo, midway rides, and much more will keep all ages entertained throughout the two day event. On Saturday evening, Eric Rock will once again be hosting the Saturday Night Street Dance on the Main Stage. The Tim McIntosh Project, and others, will entertain and the Founder’s Fair will come to a blazing finale when A Different Spin will once again appear before the crowd with their fire show. For more information, call 519-942-0087 or visit the BIA website at www. discoverbroadway.ca. Meanwhile, a farewell party was held for departed BIA executive director Jacqueline Bayley Tuesday night at Pia's Bakery on Broadway. Ms. Bayley resigned her post April 23 to take a job in Cambridge. The BIA has no immediate plans to replace her. Ms.Patton and office administrator Alison Scheel are currently handling the day-to-day operations of the BIA. Ms. Bayley “was a great mentor.” said Ms. Patton, “She taught me a lot and provided a good foundation for all the events. “I'll be following her blueprint.”

say is there are a lot of mechanical elements,” said Mr. Hornburg. A lot of the elements of Splatalot are still in the planning faze, including the signature look. Mr. Hornburg commented that the costume at the present time is a hybrid of medieval theme and ensuring proper safety equipment for contestants. The obstacle course is “quite rigorous”; helmets

Nearly all were to appear for a bail hearing today (Thursday). Those charged with

simple possession were Kimberly Teresa Hebde, 26, of Orangeville; Cynthia Lou-Ann McKenzie, 44, of Orangeville and Bonnie Jean Gray, 38, of Shelburne. Police also arrested and charged four persons under the age of 18, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. “Our officers work daily to rid our communities of drugs and the crimes associated with drug dealing, said Orangeville Police Chief Joe Tomei. “I know that on a regular basis that infor-

mation is shared about individuals who having chosen to plague or communities with illegal activity and today’s work should serve as an indication that their illegal actions are not only unacceptable but not welcome anywhere in Dufferin County. Among those present at Tuesday’s press conference apart from police and the press was Shelburne Mayor Ed Crewson. “In 22 years, I’ve never seen 33 (suspects) taken in one sweep, Mayor Crewson told the officers. “Our community thanks you for your continued

service. Anyone having further information with regards to these incidents is encouraged to call the Criminal Investigation Branch of the Orangeville Police Service at 519-9412522, Shelburne Police Service at 519-925-3111 or Crime Stoppers at either 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.sdmcrimestoppers. com. Energy map. Currently, these properties are nonparticipating. However, many of them are located on Highlands owned properties. Even though I am not participating, I do not have a red dot on my property. Does this mean future phases of wind turbines? If you spoke to the Victims, and knew the truth; you would question Health Minister Arlene King’s conclusions “No health problems and you would support ArrranElderslie’s wind turbine bylaw. “The bylaw uses Section 7 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which protects life, liberty and security of the person, in a bid to regain some municipal control over wind farms which was stripped away by the province’s Green Energy Act. It says Developers must provide certificates issued by Health Canada, the Ontario Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ontario Ministry of Aboriginal Affairs and a Local First Nations Representative, confirming that the proposed wind generation facility being applied for “will benefit, or will not harm, the health, safety and wellbeing of residents before a building permit for a turbine is issued. If they sign, then they will be liable when, not if, health, safety and wellbeing problems surface. Wind Developers are looking for Councils who will not support the ArranElderslie wind turbine bylaw. Why is our health not of concern? Don’t we deserve this by law as well? Are there any members of Council that support the Arran-Elderslie by law? I will keep this in mind at the next election. Joan Lever Melancthon

“We have a safety coordinator who reviews all of the challenges, we do a lot of testing of the challenges well in advance of finalizing the set. Our challenge producer who helps us design the projects has helped (marblemedia) in the past with our other shows, said Mr. Hornburg. “He has worked on a lot of shows like survivor and the amazing race. There will also be a paramedic and lifeguard on set the entire time. According to Mr. Hornburg, the show will be airing sometime next spring. He encourages local kids to come out and be involved in something they will remember for the rest of their lives.

about widespread reports of this scam. According the police, the modus operandi is to telephone a potential victim while posing as representing a family member or friend who is in urgent need of cash. Often the scenario involves an accident, arrest, hospitalization or imprisonment with a request that cash be sent through a money transfer company, such as Western Union or Money Gram or in the form of a postal money order.
