SOMBRA is a collection of Sunbrellas designed for sunny days.
The result is an object that combines state of the art technology and memory, mixing shadows with patterns, laser-cuted over the white tyvek. Inspired both on memory references and cultural intersections - this object was used by Europeans in the past, although nowadays it’s a habit mostly from oriental countries. The plot of this product is to re-install this old habit back, considering how the climate has been changing and how sun rays can be nocive to the skin. The design itself has a direct inspiration from old shops gates available at Macau’s Streets, bringing the everyday life of the city to this simultaneously ancient and extremely common object.
