Father Christmas and his Reindeers Father Christmas’s reindeers will be flying into Rochdale Town Centre and resting on the Butts between 11am-3pm on Saturday 6 December where children can pet the reindeers. Children’s rides, stalls and brass bands will add to a magical day’s entertainment. Don’t forget – children can bring along their letters to Santa and hand these in to his elves at the reindeer pen. Meet the elves who will help you have some creative fun. Place a wish on the Christmas tree before meeting Santa in his magical Grotto. Each child will receive a gift to take home. A Common Ground: Ikuko Iwamoto, Junko Mori & Kayo Saito Organised by Touchstones Rochdale

Heywood Artists & Phoenix Textiles

A Common Ground brings together the work of three UK-based, Japanese-born artists who have a shared interest in the natural world as a source of inspiration for their work. Ikuko Iwamoto makes tableware and sculptural ceramics based on the repetitive patterns such as those seen through a microscope. Junko Mori’s metalwork consists of multiples of individually forged steel, with her observations of tree and plant matter the driving force behind her sculptures. Kayo Saito’s jewellery is influenced by the plants and organic forms, whose apparent fragility, structure and vital energy stimulate her creativity. The Contemporary Forward programme is supported by Arts Council England.

Glennis Brierley: Celebrating a Creative Life Organised by Touchstones Rochdale

Local artist Glennis Brierley died tragically in December 2013. This exhibition celebrates the richness and diversity of her artistic talents through paintings, drawings, embroideries and mixed media work representing a lifetime of creativity.
