About the Project Cultural Routes is a programme made with, and for, the over 50’s to celebrate and give space to older creatives in Rochdale who may usually be excluded from mainstream arts opportunities. The project includes a commission for a lead artist to work with local creatives to develop their skills and build creative activities for people over 50 years old in Rochdale.
Ruth Jones - Lead Artist Ruth is a contemporary dance artist who specialises in outdoor and sited choreographic work. She often works with communities, large scale parades, and theatre shows. This commission was exclusively for artists over the age of 50 and Ruth was selected to lead on the conceptual themes of the project.
Lili Ruston & Sandra Williams Local Creatives Cultural Routes is designed to promote creativity and ambition for older people. As part of the commission Lili and Sandra were selected through an open call to take part in this programme. Through an intensive mentoring scheme, they have been working with Ruth to develop their skills in creative facilitation, dance, and choreography.
