ACTIVE, CREATIVE & HEALTHY

link4life.org

Link4Life is a charity working in the heart of Rochdale Borough to support each and every member of our diverse community to live happier, healthier, creative lives.

Health & Wellbeing Programmes We work closely with Public Health partners, providers and commissioners to support delivery of a number of specialist health and wellbeing programmes for older adults and those living with or managing long term health conditions. Sessions include: • Cardiac rehabilitation • Moving Forward after Stroke and postural stability programmes for falls prevention • Walking Football and Walking Netball programmes enabling older adults to enjoy competitive sport once again

Learn to Swim Swimming is a key skill to have at any age; not only is it a great way of keeping fit but it’s a valuable life skill that increases safety in and around water. Our Swim Academy programme is designed for all ages - babies to adults - and for all abilities. Following the Swimming Teachers Association (STA) pathway,

learners will develop a wide range of swim skills and build confidence in the water. From complete beginners, those who have a fear of the water, to those that are confident in the water and want to improve stroke technique, stamina and overall ability, our fully-qualified instructors guide pupils through lessons in a fun, relaxed way.

As we all stay at home, we know that regular exercise and being creative is essential for keeping you as healthy as possible and boosting your mood. Link4Life At Home gives a range of free activities for children, adults and older adults. Alongside our own activities and those of our partners including Les Mills, Life Fitness, and National Theatre Live, we’ve also included links to some of the great resources available from other organisations to give you a range of online workouts, fitness classes, recipes and nutrition, indoor activities, art projects, virtual tours, online viewing of the boroughs’ artworks collection at Touchstones Rochdale, mindfulness sessions and history videos from the Touchstones team to assist those who are currently homeschooling. There’s also gentle home exercises for older adults and for those managing health conditions such as back pain. We’re updating this every week so that there’s something new to do every time you visit. The Link4Life team have been busy filming a variety of activities for you to join in with so if you’ve not taken part in workout classes before, or want to try something new, take a look at what’s available and do them in the comfort of your own home. There’s also videos from our nutrition team to give ideas of easy, healthy and cheap meals to make. Visit www.link4life.org/at-home
