If you meet eligibility requirements, contact the weatherization provider in your area. In the Mat-Su Borough, that’s the Alaska Community Development Corporation in Palmer, 907-746-5680, or visit www.alaskacdc.org. Homes weatherized prior to May 14, 2008, are eligible to be re-weatherized in the Weatherization program for those individuals meeting income guidelines. However, these previously weatherized homes will not be as high a priority as those never weatherized. After your home is weatherized, you have 90 days from the date your name is dispatched to submit your paperwork to AHFC. Failure to submit your paperwork within 90 days will result in participant ineligibility. To become eligible again, you must reapply to the program by signing up on the waitlist. Please note: by signing up again on the waitlist there is no guarantee of participation. Funds are only set aside when AHFC receives your paperwork. If you don’t have the money upfront to pay for energy improvements, AHFC offers loans to qualified borrowers up to $30,000 through the Second Mortgage for Energy Conservation.
