Internships and engaged learning opportunities right here in Nashville develop competencies that can’t be taught in a classroom, which means you’ll be ready to apply for jobs after college with skills and experience highly demanded by employers.

The College of Business requires students to complete an internship to gain experience and apply their classroom knowledge with Nashville partners including large companies (such as HCA, Philips, Schneider Electric and Tractor Supply Company), small businesses and nonprofit organizations.

During our annual QuestWeek Service Day, incoming students are immersed in our tradition of service with an afternoon devoted to serving the Nashville community with

local organizations like Safe Haven, Youth Engagement Services, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Carestone Assisted Living, Madison Church of Christ Christian Care Center and more.

Lipscomb’s J.S. Ward Society sponsors the prestigious Ward Summer Research Fellowship, which pairs a student studying the natural sciences with a faculty member for an unforgettable one-on-one research experience.

Through a partnership with the Debra K. Johnson Rehabilitation Center, the LIFE program provides a unique learning opportunity to study alongside students pursuing a Lipscomb degree in prison that develops self-confidence, character, knowledge and compassion.

Located on the southern end of 12 South, Sevier Park is a nearby greenspace frequented by Lipscomb students. With plenty of trees for shade and a gently flowing creek, it’s where you’ll find the 12 South Farmers Market on Tuesdays and a great place to spend a spring afternoon away from campus. Pack a picnic and a Frisbee, and you’ll be good to go.

GREEN HILLS

In our neighborhood, you can find everything you need. Grab a cup of coffee at The Well. See a concert at the world-famous Bluebird Café. Go shopping at The Mall at Green Hills and catch a movie while you’re there. If you need a sweet treat, check out Fox’s Donut Den, founded by a Lipscomb alum. Need some snacks? JOHN SEIGENTHALER PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE

Named for a journalist and civil rights activist, the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge spans 3,150 feet across the Cumberland River and connects downtown Nashville to the residential suburbs of East Nashville. If you park downtown for a Titans game, it’s an easy and scenic walk to Nissan Stadium featuring views of the river and the city.

About a mile from campus, you’ll find 12 South, one of the most walkable and popular neighborhoods in Nashville. It includes vintage clothing stores, gourmet restaurants and everything in between. Get some coffee at Frothy Monkey or ice cream at Jeni’s, and browse the stores and shops like White’s Mercantile

In addition to the Lipscomb Bisons who compete in 17 Division I sports, Nashville features four professional sports teams—the Tennessee Titans (football), Nashville Predators (hockey), Nashville SC (soccer) and Nashville Sounds (baseball). You’ll feel the energy of the city in support of these teams all year long.

RYMAN AUDITORIUM

The Mother Church of Country Music, Ryman Auditorium originally opened in 1892 and is globally known as one of the best performance halls in the world, so seeing a concert here should be near the top of your Nashville bucket list. Check it out and you’ll understand why.

RADNOR LAKE STATE PARK

One of the many amazing things about Nashville is that you can find a protected natural area right in the city; it’s only a 10-minute drive from campus down Granny White Pike. With nearly eight miles of hiking trails, Radnor Lake is a beautiful retreat, especially in the fall. And if you look closely, maybe you’ll spot an otter!
