Football- Dallas Cowboys By: Paris Ludwig

There are many different football teams but one has been a major attention grabber this year, the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys have been stepping up a lot this year with only two losses and eleven wins. I think the Cowboys will make it to the Superbowl this year. The Cowboys have been doing great and the only game they have lost so far is their very first game against the Giants and that was only beginner's luck. Another big topic this year is rookie, Dak Prescott, who has done a lot for the cowboys this year. Prescott has been a great quarterback for the Cowboys and has helped them achieve so much. Someone else that has been talked about recently is the Cowboys running back, Ezekiel Elliott has been one of the most productive running backs. Ezekiel is having a historic rookie season and is helping make the Cowboys great again.

Baking:By: iyana Mbong

Have you ever baked a cake? Or even a cupcake? Well if you have then you could compete in a baking competition.Baking competitions are the best because you can be creative in your own way. It´s even considered a Sport in by tv celebrity ChadGervich from¨CupCake Wars¨. He states ¨” I think that baking is also an extravagant sport... ¨ Being creative is one thing that is apart of a daily Lifestyle. It involves thinking of different flavors of cake and colors of fondant and icing and all Other kinds of decorations you want to add.

This can relate to Duff Goldman. Duff Goldman is a baker but also vary creative. He has many shows that are ¨Ace Of Cakes¨, ¨ Iron Chef America¨, and ¨Sugar High¨. He has made many cakes that sold world wide all over the united states. He is personally my favorite baker of all time, but doesn't have to be for you. Over all cakes are all about creativity and having fun. 4

The history of gymnastics comes from Ancient Greece to Modern Time. Gymnastics deal with strength, flexibility, acrobatic skills, tumbling, control etc. The Ancient Greeks invented a gymnasium for Romans to practice gymnastics. Gymnastics now these days are really hard. Gymnastics can be dangerous because you could injure yourself badly if you don’t have enough strength and flexibility. During this year’s gymnastics olympics Simone Biles won all-around champion. Simone won gold, Aly won silver, and Laurie Hernandez got bronze. Everyone on the team including Gabby Douglas and Madison Kocian worked really hard to be in the 2016 gymnastics olympics. They work in the gym for many hours a week. At the end of the competition Gabby Douglas was upset that she didn’t make the all-around team. To wrap things up gymnastics has always been a really good and fun sport to do.

Swimming Swimming is commonly generalised as the sport of propelling yourself in water using your limbs. Something as simple as that seems like it has no history doesn’t it? Well, think otherwise. The sport of swimming can be dated all the way back to the stone age. Sounds unbelievable but wall paintings of people swimming can be found in caves located in Egypt called “The Cave of Swimmers”. Yeah, the place you least expect swimming to be a sport in is where the earliest evidence of swimming is. To make this article sound a little more believable, I’ll include the fact that samurais from Japan competed in swimming competitions since swimming was considered one of the noble skills of a samurai. Now does this article sound more believable. Before the Olympics, competitive swimming was attributed with the British. Though the type of strokes they used were done mostly in the style of breaststroke and side strokes until the concept of front crawl was introduced, which was introduced in 1873. In this time period, modern swimming caps were introduced when rubber was invented. Another thing to mention is that these competitions were only men versus men until 1892 where the first National Swimming Championships for women was introduced in Scotland and in the 1912 Olympic Games. 1928 was the start of the scientific study of swimming by David Armbruster. This study involved underwater photography to study stroke mechanics. This study included looking for a method to make swimming in a backstroke much faster. He found a way to refine the backstroke but he couldn’t have it used officially in the Olympics because it violated the rules. So with his refined backstroke, this stroke was dubbed the butterfly stroke in 1952.

Around the time period of 1943, a modification was made for the breaststroke. Swimming on the water’s surface increases friction, which causes the swimmer to go slower. This resulted in swimmers swimming underwater which led a controversy at the 1956 summer olympics because of six swimmers doing such which got them disqualified. One swimmer thought did something similar and not get disqualified. What that swimmer was used as much of the lane underwater as possible. This technique she did got her to win a gold medal. Though a negative effect of this new technique was that it got swimmers suffering oxygen starvation which caused some swimmers to faint. Now in 2016, swimming is a popular exercise in areas with tropical climates. Unlike in the old days, there’s swimming equipment for nearly any situation. Elastic caps, floaty boards, and goggles are only some of them. Swimming in the Olympics are now more popular than before. An example of a popular Olympic swimmer is Michael Phelps, who just recently retired. Overall, swimming has went a very long way, all the way from the stone ages to the modern ages. The equipment used in swimming and the different ways of swimming has come a long way too. From swimming with lots of cotton to a more decreased amount, the changes ranged from mild to completely changing a stroke. Though, there’s one thing about swimming that will never change. And an obvious example is water.
