What is Caregiver Stress?

Often as a caregiver these are some of the common thoughts that may disturb us and impact the mental health of the caregiver. Thoughts like “I should always be present for this person”; “ I cannot be tiered of taking care of them” ; “ I am a bad person if I can’t show up every time for them” often dismisses the fact that caregivers are also individuals and it is natural to feel stressed and anxious or overwhelmed, especially when taking care of our loved ones all alone.

Always remember that “ Taking care of them doesn’t have to come at the cost of my needs”. “ I am allowed to take breaks/rest from role of caregiver”. “ Prioritising myself doesn’t make me bad person (selfish).
