VOTE NIKI For Student Experience Officer Chelmsford
My manifesto Hi I’m Niki Phagura and I’m running for Student Experience Officer in Chelmsford. I am in the process of completing part-time MSc Project management. I graduated in BSc (hons) Real Estate Management in 2008. I was in the cheerleading squad in 2005 and I am the secretary for the Architecture Society.
ĺ
You may recognise me from the SU shop, bar or office as I work for the SU. I have experience dealing with students on a daily basis on the phone, face to face, sober and drunk. I have been part of Cheerleading and Architecture Society and have organised trips and fundraiser nights. I have been a full-time undergraduate student and a part time postgraduate student so I can relate to many students. I’m friendly and approachable and always have time to listen.
x More support for part-time and postgraduate students, longer book loans. x Arrange site visits for architecture and construction students, turn theory into reality! x Continue to involve and support international students. x Have more themes and variety at the SU bar to cater for everybody. x Try to make more clubs and societies to cater for everyone and continue to support the ones we have. x Try to improve timetables with shorter gaps and fewer late lectures. x Negotiate with the University to give commuters priority for a space in the car park. x Arrange cross campus activities and nights out with transport, bringing all the campuses together Chelmsford, Cambridge, Peterborough, Fulbourn and UCP.

My name is Emily Millar, I have studied Psychology at the Cambridge campus for the last three years. I am outgoing, positive, and enthusiastic and will be 100 per cent dedicated to giving you all the best student experience possible. When: 7th, 8th, 9th & 10th March Where: Vote on campus by paper or onͲline Why: Make your views count! Email:nush89@hotmail.co.uk or find me on Facebook "I aim to enhance communication, employability, involvement and education at Anglia Ruskin"
Home from Home "The prospect of leaving home and meeting new people can be daunting. After living as a student for 3 years, working as a residential assistant and helping new students move into accommodation. I realise it's the simple things that matter". x New students need a guide to answer queries and international students to help set up bank accounts, mobile phones etc. This service must be provided for fresher's living off campus too. x Introduce an ETHICAL relationship with letting agencies for students going into private accommodation. x Socialising is integral to help new students settle in. I have worked for the University bar for the last 3 years. I will endeavour to provide entertainment, continuing to promote 'Give it a Go' and nonͲalcoholic events as alternatives. Sports & Societies Sport is a major part of my life; I enjoy both team and individual sports. My involvement with ARU teams has hugely enhanced my student experience. I have been part of the Rowing, Cheer leading, netball team and am on the Rugby committee. x
x
Ensure our current clubs and societies flourish and that new ideas are put forward to provide more choice for students, aiming to maximise their potential by ensuring they have appropriate funding, venues, and equipment. Encourage charity sports events for example introducing 'Raise and give week', with the tuition fee increases that lay ahead it is vital that students get the best out of their experience.
Love to Learn x Having studied Psychology at ARU for the last three years I will draw on my own experience and listen to the views of others. I want to make students more aware of the fantastic services already available on campus and online. x More choice in learning; technology is changing fast. ARU should make lectures available as recordings or ideally videos and pod casts to provide an opportunity for distance learning to aid revision. x Liaise with the Student Reps; I would like to introduce online groups to enable all students to voice their opinions.
Looking to the future: I want to increase publicity of the career services for final year students, such as having a career section in the Library and promoting opportunities for work experience. I hope to provide more training schemes to help graduates stand out when they leave ARU.

I was Founder of the Theatre Arts Society and President for 18 months. My aim was to provide students with opportunities they may not otherwise be open to. This gave me first hand experience of how the SU functions which gives me a head start on taking on an Officer role. I also had finance responsibilities working with budgets and applying for grants. I am a Student Ambassador and was 2nd year Student Representative for my Faculty which has given me the chance to learn a lot more about how the University works and it makes me even more determined to make the right changes for the students. I am passionate, work well with people and have natural leadership qualities. University has been the most influential few years of my life and I intend to make sure every student feels the same about their University experience!

Vote Kelly Sweeney for NUS Conference Delegate 2011 REASONS TO VOTE KELLY FOR NUS DELEGATE SUBMITTING MOTION FOR NUS CONFERENCE If elected for NUS delegate representative I will be supporting motions that Anglia Ruskin Students Union has submitted on your behalf.
So Remember Vote Kelly for NUS Delegate on the 7th-10th March
Finally, I have no political afÞliation so you can be conÞdent that I will be truly representing your views and not be voting with a personal agenda.
REPRESENTING YOU AT A NATIONAL LEVEL Having attended NUS national conference for the last 2 years, I feel that I have the experience to represent you in the correct manner. I have worked hard over the last 2years to represent the wants and needs of our students to the university and now its time to let me do this on a national level by being a conference delegate at the most important national event of the NUS calendar.
ENSURING THAT NUS REPRESENTS YOU CORRECTLY TO THE GOVERNMENT I will make sure that I vote for policy that represents all of our students, particularly mature and part-time students who make up a large portion of our student demographic. I will also Þght to ensure that NUS is Þghting for the rights of our students and the issues that are affecting you .
