Easter & February Half Term.

Active Holidays continued to be a success this Easter with over 1700 attendances at Make-a-Move activities alone! The Active Roadshow programme offering free activities for young people and families was undoubtedly one of many highlights over the two week programme. Following a successful ‘Stay All Day’ programme, the established Ability to Play Cinema Special on the final day of the holidays was a great way to end the holi-

days, it also provided an opportunity for those who had attended Dance Camps to perform in front of an audience. Prior to Easter, holiday activities in 2014 started with a bang during February Half Term with over 900 attendances at Make-a-Move’s activities. The week started with the launch of Newbiggin Skate Park, Override bmx and scooter team provided a display whilst activities were on offer on the refurbished MUGA.

Sport Relief Mile a success in Seaton Sluice. More than 250 local people turned out in force on Sunday 23rd March at the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile. Milers of all ages were sponsored to do 1, 3 or 6 miles along Eves Black Walk from Seaton Sluice to Blyth. The day was a huge success with friends, families and work mates all joining together to go the extra mile for Sport Relief. It was a glorious day with spectators showing their support for all of the fundraisers including super heroes, dog walkers and even new born babies. Make-a-Move team also supported Morpeth Paddle sport club in their first ‘Pad-

Paddle-Ability returns in 2014! Following its success last year, Paddle-Ability returns to QE2 Country Park, Ashington on Saturday 17th May. Organsied by Active Northumberland in partnership with Canoe England and several local clubs, the event offers people with disabilities the opportunity to try paddlesports in a fun and safe environment with supervision from fully qualified coaches. All equipment is provided although booking in advance is recommended. Suitable for anyone aged over 8 years, booking costs £4 and can be made by calling 01670 542 222. dle Sport Relief Mile’ event! This was an opportunity for people to support and raise money for the Sport Relief Campaign in an innovative way, paddling along the Wanney’s Beck at its pass through the historic town of Morpeth. We would like to say a huge thank you to each and every person who has donated money or given their time to fundraise for Sport Relief. We look forward to seeing you again in two years’ time!
