Sportivate project Highly Commended A Rock Climbing project delivered by Blyth Valley Arts & Leisure in partnership with Northumberland Sport has been 1 of 4 projects across the North East to be Highly Commended by Sport England. The project which took place in Cramlington gave a group of 14-16 year olds the opportunity to try out Climbing at their local leisure centre. This opportunity provided an avenue to build confidence for individuals who had previously been bullied and had issues with self-esteem. After the Sportivate Climbing sessions, one of the young participant’s commented, “I have gained in personal confidence and also got physically stronger as a result of the climbing activities.” As part of Sport England’s Places People Play initiative, Sportivate offers young people aged 14-25 years the opportunity to take part in a range of different sporting activities.
