The improvisation series is curated and artist led, supported by DanceXchange, and meets on the first Wednesday of every month. It offers a space for exploration in dance improvisation and related practices. An experienced practitioner leads the first part of the session, followed by open dancing. Choreographic Workshop with Luca Silvestrini’s Protein // Sat 24 Jan. 11am - 1pm // £7/6 conc. This is an opportunity for professional dance practitioners to explore Protein’s approach to dance-theatre making. Employing Luca Silvestrini’s blend of contact-based physicality, voice and text, emotions and humour, this session will mirror some of his creative processes and practices. Expect to be challenged, be ready to play with your creativity and draw on your own personality and experiences. Participants are strongly recommended to see Dear Body at The Patrick Centre (22 & 23 Jan) in order to get the most out of the session. Tavaziva Rep Workshop // Tue 10 Mar // 2 - 4pm // £7/6 conc. The workshop will include a combination of technique and learning company repertoire. It will be an energetic and challenging class, which draws from Bawren Tavaziva's unique choreographic style that fuses ballet, contemporary and African dance forms. Tavaziva workshops aim to inspire and encourage the individual creativity within all participants regardless of age and ability. JUNE Choreographic Workshop with Ben Wright // Thu 18 Jun // 2 - 4pm // £7/6 conc. During this two-hour session, Ben will lead participants through a range of similar processes that informed bgroup’s triple bill The Diminishing Present. He will frequently use imagery to exemplify ideas and will encourage the use of touch and partnering at regular intervals throughout the workshop. Suitable for Degree level students and professional dancers. Suitability: Open to Professional Dancers and advanced students i.e. those nearing the end of their training on a dance degree course. P3
