Treasure these moments...
Capture their character...
What to bring: Treats and toys can be used to gain the animals attention during the photographs although it is best to try and keep the situation calm to achieve the best working conditions. Please note: it is important to not feed your pet before the session. Accessories you would like in the photos can also be brought along ie, doggie jumpers or diamantĂŠ collars! Ideally children are best not to attend pet sessions in order to keep the pet from being distracted. If they do come along please bring another adult along to supervise while we are taking the photos of your dog.
What to expect:
Please allow approximately 45-90 minutes for the session. I have a selection of background and props to use and your preferences for style will be discussed on the day. Sittings with animals can often be a bit unpredictable and we sometimes have to go with the flow. Sometimes it will take time to let the pet settle and relax which is absolutely fine, we do not have to rush. Breaks will be given often for each pet and I do not force animals (or children) to be photographed if they appear distressed or simply do not want to have their picture taken. I have zero tolerance for hitting pets. The pet and his/her comfort is paramount at the studio. Nervous pets may take longer to adjust to the environment. We will take the time they need.
I will have a small crate at the Studio to keep smaller pets safe. A puppy pen is also available. However, please ensure animals are either on a lead or in a secure carrier at all times when ever not being photographed for their own safety. The studio is secure and the pet area is fenced off to keep the little critters from straying too far. Important: Please do exercise your dog before he/she is brought to the studio. There is no facilities for them to relieve themselves at the studio and over-excitable dogs are much harder to photograph. Puppies unable to be walked are an exception as we have puppy pads for the puppy pen and they tire much easier.
What do you want fro your pet portrait session? Have a think what style of portraits you prefer ( fun with clothing and props, classic on a white background, cute and full of character?) What product are you thinking of owning afterwards? (Prints, frames, canvas, photobook, novelty gift items?)
