Social Media, Public Relations & Effective Marketing •
3 Platforms: o Facebook o Instagram o Twitter
IMPORTANT: NEEDS OF ALL SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS • 1. Call to action o What do you want the audience to do? • 2. Hook o Get their attention with strong wording. • 3. Visually Pleasing o Avoid eye assault and clutter. o Keep it clean and sexy with only imperative info visable. • 4. Each platform caters to a different audience. For example: o Facebook is more towards family, alumni, school, and community. o Twitter can be a general or as specific as you want. You can contact people from across the globe directly, if you so chose. o Instagram can reach students directly depending on what you are using this platform for. On instagram you can create more of a story of your chapter, so the viewer can really see what a day-‐to-‐day life of a sister consists of. “FOCUS ON 3 PLATFORMS YOU USE WELL, NOT 6 PLATFORMS YOU USE ALRIGHT.” Facebook o Post with purpose. o Post 1-‐2 Times a day o What do we use it for? And who is our audience? § Create a chapter facebook account to friend alumna and current sisters. § Have private facebook group § Fan Page • Toward active sisters, alumna and college interaction • Spotlight: Deepher Diamond, smart cookie, tbt, new member Monday, Family Fridays, Deepher Wednesdays, Team Tuesday, etc.
info@pincinternational.com | @PINCinternational • • Birthdays o Have someone who is close to her write the post, like her brother, big, little, best friend; personalization o Or do one monthly/weekly shout out with a collage for that month/week (depending on chapter size) o Alumni birthdays/spotlight § Engagement photos § Baby announcements § Starting a business announcement § Events: Greek meetings, RCF, events and what/who we are. • Geared more towards outsiders, PNMs, Parents, Teachers, etc. o Show them that we get shit done • Remember that Alumni are watching us, especially on Facebook! o Ask them to help us if our engagement is good. o What would they like to see? § Use this for PNMs, Actives, and Alum (keep it fun, professional, and informational) o Remember to think about what is your end goal when you post? § What do I want my audience to do? § Do I want them to contact me? RSVP? Donate? o “Shares” § Sharing is better than a comment, and way better than a like. o Recruitment Purposes § Why did you join DPhiE spotlight § #meanttobedphie § Get to know your LT posts § How have I grown with DPhiE § What opportunities have I gotten as a result of DPhiE Instagram o How is it used? § Have a strong bio and a link that has a purposeful landing page § Post 2 times a day (figuring out the time is trial and error)
info@pincinternational.com | @PINCinternational § Happy birthday-‐make it personal, not the same for every girl that day! § Post flyers § Countdown before recruitment § Greek unity § Form relationships with other organizations § Sisters abroad spotlight, internships, vacations, hometowns, #deepherswander • Main hash tags need to be in the main image, other excessive hash tags can be put in the first comment, so it’s still searchable and looks visually appealing § Throw what you know § Use flipograms • Recruitment marketing o #MeantToBeDPhiE § Other apps to use with Instagram • Repost, photofy, visco, facetune or camera360 § 5s’s throughout the week on time per month or every other month because there are only 4 weeks in a month….nbd. § MAKE YOUR CHAPTER A BRAND!!! • Post when you know there is the most traffic on that platform (during class, early morning, night, during parties) • Create a GoogleDoc where chapter members can submit all of the pictures they have so the Social media manager can filter through them and select which ones she wants to utilize. Twitter o How is it used? o Post as frequently as you would like. We all know twitter is a continuous stream of information. Quality over Quantity. These percentages below are suggested: § 60% RT § 30% Convo § 10% Promos o 60% RT § RT Panhel

Become that source of information for your community so they like your chapter and conversely want to help your chapter • What quality content are they giving you? o Pizza and Pedicure knowledge source because YOU guys RT for your campus o Book sales o Buy back sales o Consignment events o REMEMBER TO KEEP IT SIMPLE o 30% Convo § Join and respond to the conversations around you guys • Comment on other organization’s events • Follow your own College’s Twitter account AND interact with them o Know what services and activities they provide for you and for your campus AND relay that information • Opportunities to meet students • Talk to people through these platforms (not just twitter) § Influences • Women in business (i.e. Oprah!) o Get into their hands, phone, by constantly talking to them via twitter/other platforms o 10% Promos § Successful: Create a sense of urgency; tweet a few hours before the deadline, stressing the limited time left. § Time of day matters and repost often because Twitter is a movie feed § Videos • IHQ and Philanthropies share • Keep it on that platform, I hate having to click out of Twitter, too much work, keep it easy. § Pictures! § Engage with community, campus, philanthropies
