2014 Citico • Made in USA using our top T1 technology • Features 6Al/4V Ti and Litespeed’s proprietary radial break sheet formed top tube • Multi-Wheel Compatible (MWC) • Updated geometry, 44mm head tube, and SingleTrack asymmetric chainstay design • PressFit 30 bottom bracket system Available as frame only
Litespeed Tech Feed: 2014 Citico First, if you’re going titanium, you need to go Litespeed for the simple fact that Litespeed’s metalworkers are the best in the industry. Second, if you want a meticulously designed and fabricated, top-of-the-line, performance hardtail, look no further than the 2014 Litespeed Citico. Lightweight and strong, 6AL-4V — featured on the Citico — is the ultimate workhorse of the titanium industry. Whereas 3AL-2.5V is 60 ksi (tensile strength), 6AL-4V is 130 ksi. That’s one reason we’re so selective at Litespeed about where and how we incorporate 6/4 into a bicycle frame. In fact, the Citico top tube actually starts out as a single sheet of titanium. Litespeed’s proprietary radial break sheet forming process enables the 6/4 sheet to become dimensional so the top tube becomes taller as it gets closer to the head tube. At the same time, and at a precisely calculated sweet spot on the tube, it also gets wider from side to side, increasing stiffness and helping to provide incredible steering feedback, accuracy, and power transfer. Lower weight and increased stiffness, the best of both worlds, for sure.

2014 Citico
Top of the Line for Any Terrain Inspired by Tennessee’s Citico Creek Wilderness, in which elevations can reach 4,600 feet, and only a few of the rugged upper terrain’s slopes incline less than 30 degrees, you can bet the titanium Citico hardtail is a true featherweight climber. Whether the competition is the trail itself or a pack of buddies still negotiating the singletrack below, the Citico arrives equipped with pure advantage: The hexagonal-shaped top tube, 44mm head tube, and massive down tube combine for seriously efficient power transfer on steep-grades. It also offers precise steering control and tracking on wicked, twisted switchbacks or wild descents. In addition, titanium always makes for a softer ride on the rear end, no matter the terrain.

expect both quality and expertise.”
Q. What is the benefit of the 44mm head tube? A. You have to look at a bike frame as the sum of the pieces. The larger diameter head tube and bottom brackets allow Litespeed to stretch their skill at incorporating Shape Specific Design (SSD) tubing into all the right spots. The larger diameter head tube offers a wider platform for incorporating larger tubing, which enables the frame to be laterally stiff, responsive, and compliant. Additionally, the Citico’s 44mm head tube is a precision one-piece, machined (no sleeve), butted piece of seamless 3Al-2.5V titanium and features a titanium engraved, welded head badge. No shortcuts.
Unlike its predecessors named Spirit and Opportunity, the current Mars Rover will use its wheels as landing gear rather than airbags when a rocket-powered descent lowers it directly onto the Martian surface via a tether in August of 2013. The new precision landing allows NASA to practically pinpoint a site compared to previous explorations. Curiosity has a titanium rocker-bogie suspension system, which prevents it from tipping while navigating the rocky terrain. Independent six-wheel drive and cleats provide traction. Opportunity can also swerve and turn in place 360 degrees.
Litespeed answers trail lovers’ questions about the 2014 Citico
Q. Can you explain PressFit 30 and benefits? A. It’s the best from BB30 and Press-Fit bottom brackets in one single package. This bottom bracket is designed for 30mm spindle crank sets. The key difference with PressFit 30 is how the bearings are fitted into the frame. Bearings are housed in nylon cups which will be pressed into the frames bottom bracket shell. PressFit 30 features an integrated seal, pre-assembled into the cups, to further prolong bearing life. You end up with weight savings, narrow Q-factor, more ankle clearance, greater bearing durability, stiffer/stronger crank construction, plus simple installation. Q. What is SingleTrack asymmetric chainstay design? A. Litespeed’s chain stays are oversized, tapered, and custom formed to maximize mud clearance while adding to already unthinkable drivetrain stiffness.
“We’re honored to work with NASA’s Mars Science Laboratory,” said Hurley. “The Curiosity Mars landing in late summer is something we’re definitely looking forward to. Our only regret: we couldn’t send along a mountain bike for testing on Mars.”

2014 Pisgah
The Get Up to Go Litespeed built the Pisgah for the challenges of steep grades and rough and tuff terrain like that found in the North Carolina forest it was named after. Added front end stiffness of the tubing combined with added stiffness offered by running a 1.5” tapered steerer fork maximizes both the frame and the components. The 44mm head tube allows use of either Ø1.125 straight or Ø1.125 x 1.5 tapered steerer forks and is also External Cup (EC) and Zero Stack (ZS) headset compatible. Asymmetrical chain stays deliver maximum drivetrain stiffness and power transfer so riders get the most for their muscle while PressFit 30 bottom bracket design means more ankle clearance, greater bearing durability, and simple installation.
Legendary Litespeed Titanium rested on our laurels. It’s one thing to be a legacy, but Litespeed has no intention of being a relic. We strive for putting riders on the best-built bicycles like the Pisgah and continue to improve ride and performance across both our titanium and carbon fiber lines.” Handcrafted by the most skilled metalworkers in America, Litespeed’s titanium bikes have long been
Dirty Talk Litespeed answers the hard and fast questions about the 2014 Pisgah Q. Why the new geometry? A. New geometry offers wider range of fit and optimizes the latest component technology choices including the 44mm head tube. Q. What is MWC? A. Multi Wheel Compatible. Depending on race day condition, it’s not uncommon for you to show up on race day with 2 sets of tires. Introducing MWC “Multi Wheel Compatible” frames from Litespeed, it’s frame design that allows the rider to change wheel size depending on course conditions.
renowned for their durability and style. “It is an honor to see Litespeed recognized in this way,” said Steve Dunn, Litespeed’s international sales manager. “I think our 2014 line of carbon and titanium bikes are more exciting and more innovative than anything we have done so far. Seeing the Pisgah and our other bikes on the roads and trails around the world is extremely gratifying.”
Q. Can you explain the updated tubing diameter? A. The 2014 Pisgah’s new oversized top tube and bent down tube incorporate stiffness and flex where needed. Our designers and welders have come up with precision tube sets for exceptional handling characteristics. Plus, the Pisgah’s 80 to 100mm of fork travel delivers proper suspension without compromising rider control. In short, the Pisgah’s continued simple, yet meticulous design offers a sweet ride at a sweet price. Q: What is the Litespeed titanium difference? LS: Unlike several other manufacturers, Litespeed fabricates its own tubing and does not supply tubing to other brands. Litespeed also creates a brushed finish as opposed to a glass-bead blasted ti finish, which can compromise strength and blemish easily.
“Through meticulous design and engineering efforts, Litespeed has gone from humble beginnings to being an internationally recognized and lauded brand,” added Hurley. “Our 2014 bikes are proof that Litespeed as a manufacturer rides ahead of the curve.”

You will not find a better value in a 29er hardtail this technically advanced. The Cohutta is crafted in Litespeed’s legendary, expert titanium shop, and value is built right into its durability and amazing performance. Named for a dirty and demanding 100-mile mountain bike race in Copperhill, Tennessee, Litespeed’s new titanium Cohutta 29er hardtail features the industry’s first-ever 29er specific Ti tubing. The Cohutta provides the rigidity needed for surviving heavy-duty single-track terrain, yet the nimbleness required for stellar tracking and performance. The tubeset features a BB30 bottom bracket, 49mm head tube, oversized tubes and a curved downtube to clear the adjusting knobs on suspension forks. While the Cohutta handles steep descents with control and tackles climbs like a champ, Litespeed’s 4nine technology allows ride tuning in regards to fork and headset selection. Litespeed’s 4nine technology is 4ward thinking for 29-inch wheels. With clean-sheet-of-paper thinking in regards to tubeset and geometry, Litespeed designed a fully optimized 29er that increases torsional stiffness of the entire front triangle of the frame and permits a wide range of fork

Bryce’s 2011 race roster included the Paris-Brest-Paris and the Hill Country 600 (Race Across Oregon). Just before he rides the Tour Divide, he’ll have ridden a Litespeed bike from Cairo to Cape Town, travelling the entire length of Africa in the Tour d’Afrique, averaging 77 miles a day for four months. “I’ve been joking that I’m doing a 7,400-mile training ride in Africa,” says Bryce with a laugh. “And I’m hitting up all the Wizard of OZ animals, from lions and tigers to bears.”

Dirty Talk Litespeed answers the burning questions of mountain bikers who’ve been drooling over the Cohutta Q: Why is the size of the head tube larger than normal? LS: The large head tube makes the frame compatible with a variety of internal and external cup headsets that can use either tapered or straight steerer tube forks. The owner can optimize the bike to his or her choice of fork, length of travel and riding style. Q: Has the tubeset for the Cohutta been used on other titanium frames? LS: No. This tubeset was developed specifically for the Cohutta 29er. The competition uses the same tube spec, whether building for 26-inch or 29-inch. wheels. Once upon a time, we did, as well. Litespeed’s design and fabrication of this 29er specific tubeset marks a new era in titanium 29er performance. Q: Where did the geometry and sizing of the Cohutta originate? LS: First and foremost, we approached the Cohutta with fresh ideas on how to optimize handling. We felt we could enhance performance over other 29ers in the marketplace with a neutral, well-balanced geometry. The shorter chain stays and precise wheelbase
Humor aside, Bryce has some apprehension about the race. “The Divide is the one that is a little bit out of my comfort zone, because I am not as experienced of a mountain biker. Riding on trails at night when I am tired… I wonder how the off-road aspect will translate. I don’t know if I can do it,” he says. “That’s what’s exciting about it.” The Tour Divide record is 17 days, 23 hours, 45 minutes, set by Matthew Lee.

Litespeed Tech Feed: 2014 CX How do you become a cyclocross fanatic? Likely by accident. How do you put an entirely new cyclocross bike underneath an industry filled with wannabes but still starving for the real thing? Deliberately. Just add Litespeed ingenuity and know-how to titanium durability. The sport of cyclocross has come a long way from the days of bikes cobbled together from the abandoned parts bin and the old touring frames. The competition and courses are more demanding, the available components more thoughtful and selection more robust. Expectations are, indeed, higher and Litespeed does not disappoint with their 2014 CX entry, the ultimate upgrade for the serious CX athlete. To begin, Litespeed builds the CX with a cross-specific titanium tube set for the absolute best in combined value, dependability, and prograde performance rather than re-purposing tubes developed for mountain bikes as might be found in bikes from other manufacturers. The 44mm head tube and the larger diameter PressFit 30 bottom bracket provide a foundation of increased strength and performance on the course with the flexibility to run your rig as a single speed using an eccentric bottom bracket. And, no doubt about it, the CX is designed with a geometry to race: this is no sport utility bike or touring bike with additional wheelbase tacked on. Still handcrafted in the USA by the best titanium craftsmen in the world, the CX was designed and engineered with direct feedback by elite athletes and survived a punishing maiden test drive on the 2014 Tour de Afrique covering over 7,500 miles from Egypt to South Africa. Design features include 135mm spacing to accommodate the array of cross-specific wheels offered by Reynolds, Zipp, and SRAM and post-mount compatibility alongside built-in legendary Litespeed quality and durability.
Rider Profile: Brent Evans Two-time Ohio Master’s Elite Cyclocross Champion Brent Evans of Cleveland proudly recalls a time when he raced his Litespeed bike professionally in a foreign place: “I went to Europe in 1994 and I was riding a Litespeed – American frame, American pedals, and American rims on that bike. It was interesting to be a member of a pro French team, riding a fully decked out, true-blue American bike.” Evans’ first off-road Litespeed was a mountain bike, of course, but he would soon need something much more specific when he joined the cyclocross revolution; and this racer was at the top of Litespeed’s list: “I was the fifth person in the United States to have a Litespeed racing cyclocross bike. It is my favorite bike of all time. I’ve had some elegant Italian bikes and all that, but I would ride my 2007 CX Litespeed from California to Maine and enjoy every mile.”

And, durable? Litespeed wouldn’t have it any other way. The CX stands ready to resist kicks, bangs, and cleat punches like no other bike on the market and won’t wilt or scar at a power wash blast every two laps.
Legendary Litespeed Titanium
Frequently Asked Questions
Evans explains his love for the bike that he’s been dragging through the mud of cyclocross for over four years: “Titanium is really good for cyclocross because with the rugged surfaces, you need a responsive bike that can function without beating you up – you need something that can dance the dance with you.”
Litespeed answers the hard and fast questions about the 2014 CX
As a lifestyle, cycling itself has been able to dance the dance with Evans. He praises this sport, which has afforded him a rich family life: “My Litespeeds had to get written into my will. Cycling is something that my kids and wife have really been able to get into with me.” Evans continues to travel the country as the technical director for the helmet safety program “Color Me Safe” and, of course, as a racer. “I look for races that the communities embrace like the 163 miles I’m doing in Ohio – the whole community is enthusiastic and that’s what gets me excited about a race.”
Q. What’s so special about the CX’s geometry? A. This is not a touring frame geometry recycled and marketed to the cyclocross rider; it’s a dedicated race bike design with the agility necessary to maintain and advance your position within the pack. The comfortable cockpit sits upon angles and wheelbase that keep steering precise and a range of weight bias that keeps the wheels planted while carving the slippery course. Good traction coupled with a proper bottom bracket height also allows you to maximize pedal strokes. All of the finer details within the geometry are designed to allow you to shave your lap times. Q. Why are there is no option for cantilever bosses? A. As the industry trends toward the more reliable option of disc brakes, we decided to commit to disc mounts and 135 spacing for this bike. To put it bluntly, we didn’t reverse engineer this bike for yesterday’s technology. It’s purpose built, ready to race. Q. What are the advantages of a PF30 bottom bracket system on this bike? A. PF30 is compatible with every crankset known to man. Rather than thinking backwards compatibility, the advantages lie in looking at the progressive options we’ve been able to provide. By using a 24mm spindle crankset (Shimano, SRAM, FSA) mated with a 46mm eccentric bottom bracket, you have the ability to adjust bottom bracket height by a full centimeter. Or with the same crank setup, you can ditch derailleurs, shifters, the cogset, and a bit of extra chain for the simplicity of a single speed.
This defending champion will return to the Ohio State Cyclocross Championships in October and also plans to compete at the U.S. National Cyclocross Championships early next year with the same mantra he’s claimed since 1991: “I bleed Litespeed.”

Take your pick of any of Litespeed’s C-Series bikes, from 60T C1R to onboard electric-shift Ci2. They all offer a better carbon fiber layup than other superbikes on the market. You’ll own a lighter, stiffer and more aerodynamic bike without taking your wallet for a ride. Thanks to Litespeed’s aerodynamic technology and thoughtful design, the Litespeed C-Series bikes are for those who like their views blurred. Smart engineering details like aerodynamic-tuned cross sections not only reduce drag, but also use the wind to stabilize the ride. A shrouded water bottle mount on the down tube—that fits standard bottles—makes such necessary cargo almost invisible to the wind. And the down tube aerodynamically morphs every millimeter for maximum airflow. An adjustable seat mast with aerodynamic tube shaping saves weight and increases stiffness. Aero seat stays decrease resistance while aiding stability and comfort, as well. A tapered fork with Litespeed’s unique bowed design allows air to zip through and helps absorb turbulent shock for an even smoother ride. Litespeed engineers variable size tubes
Rider Profile Ultracyclist Bryce Walsh went from training and racing with two bikes—an Independent Fabrication XS and a Cervelo P3C—based on the terrain and type of race to using a Litespeed C1R exclusively. The transition has made him quite content so far. “The Litespeed gives me aerodynamics, but I don’t feel like I’m bouncing around and getting beat up as bad.” Bryce says.

Bryce—who logs more miles with his bike in a year than most people do with their cars, sometimes 70,000-plus miles—rates comfort as a top priority. Previously, he used the Independent Fabrication for comfort on long hauls and the Cervelo for speed on shorter races, but now with his C1R, Bryce says, “I’m getting the best of both worlds.”

2014 C-Series
C-Series Aero Overview The C1R is the flagship of Litespeed’s acclaimed C-Series, which includes the C1, Ci2 and C3. Every model in the C-Series is so radically efficient that, on average, the complex engineering of these bikes reduces aero watts by an astounding 20.4 watts compared to a standard, non-aero road bike. That’s an easy 16% advantage across all yaw angles and the aero equivalent of an expensive set of race wheels—minus the expense of said race wheels. All models feature BB30 technology, full AeroLogic feature set, 1.125” x 1.5” tapered steerer fork for maximum performance, and legendary Litespeed ride quality.
Rider Profile hours is only possible on the right bike,” says Bryce. “The Litespeed C1R kept me comfortable and riding strong for all of P-B-P. Whether crossing potholes and rough roads in a rainstorm, climbing steep pitches, barreling down rollers, or working in a peloton, the C1R was equally at home.” Bryce finished under his goal time, achieving him entry into la Societie Charlie Miller. The C1R’s aerodynamic technology adds to the comfort and has enhanced Bryce’s stellar performances. He won the 2011 Calvin’s Challenge, a 12-hour race in Ohio. “The race is fairly flat; there are barely any climbs and that tends to favor the bigger guys who can just kind of power through it. But the C1R was great. I averaged about 21 mph for 12 hours in harsh wind.” Bryce’s second-place finish at the hilly Race Across Oregon proves the C1R encourages rocket-fast climbs and on-rails descents. Bryce, a Coloradobased cycling coach, trained for the course by taking the C1R on rolling rides in Wisconsin. “I’m pretty impressed with its stability,” he says. His first-place victory at the Metamora 4 X 50, a double century and UMCA Ultracycling Cup event in Illinois, is further proof in the pudding that C-Series bikes are aero champs.
Fast Talk Litespeed answers riders’ questions about the fast, light and stiff C-Series. Q: Why are the awesome, lightweight, aerodynamic stiff C-Series bikes made of Ultra Modulus carbon fiber cheaper than other bikes in their class? A: That’s simple. When you pay for a superbike, you are often paying for the cost of a pro team sponsorship and the marketing that surrounds that. We don’t put our cash there and therefore don’t charge our customers for it. Q: Does the external cable routing on the C3 interfere with aerodynamics? A: The weight savings achieved with external routing more than makes up for any miniscule drag, and we think it makes maintenance a heck of a lot easier. In addition, other C-Series models do come with internal cable routing. Q: What different versions of the C-Series are available? A: We offer four specific build options: C1R which is 60T carbon, the C1 (30T carbon), the electronic shift equipped Ci2, and the C3 with Shimano 105 drive train. Q: What does the cycling press say about these bikes? A: Glad you asked. Velo Magazine calls the C1 “untouchable for the money.” And Road. cc says the C3 was “pure enjoyment. The bike was great, the frame was outstanding.”

The 2014 Litespeed L-Series utilizes every possible material advantage to improve ride-quality and handling while maximizing power-to-pedal quickness and overall agility. Litespeed’s long history of material knowledge and expertise has been meshed with fresh frame and bottom bracket technology to create the 2014 L-Series. Indeed, over four years of development have gone into designing this wholly unique line of elite, UCI-approved racing bicycles.
The L-Series models’ state-of-the-art feature set includes our own Reactive Pressure Molding (RPM) construction, BB386 EVO technology — a widebearing BB 30 system — and a barely UCI -legal 1.125” x 1.5” tapered steerer

BB386 EVO TECHNOLOGY a direct fit bearing allows the adaptability to other BB shells. The change permitted Litespeed extensive creative latitude for constructing the L1R for maximum stiffness and power transfer. As the wider BB386 EVO provides a greater surface area, Litespeed took advantage of the extra diameter by morphing tube shapes to achieve a specific performance-based ride with unparalleled stiffness. The precision alloy insert in the BB shell weighs less
Fast Talk Litespeed answers questions about the innovative L-Series. Q: What’s the story with Litespeed’s Reactive Pressure Molding (RPM)? A: RPM is an advanced molding method utilized during manufacture of our composite frames to minimize extra material and waste on the insides of bladdermolded tubes. Less internal carbon material means, simply, a lighter bike. Q: Does the L-Series feature an electric-shift model? A: Yes. Fully-electrified with Shimano’s Di2 system, the Litespeed Li2 delivers on all levels: stunning good looks, a perfected and easy shift-under-load drive train, and our legendary ride-tuned experience. ROAD Magazine raves: “They may not be the first company that comes to mind when you think of high end carbon fiber bikes, but if they keep building bikes like the Li2, they soon will be.”

Litespeed Tech Feed: 2014 T7 Not the old Ti bike of the 90's. It is new age Ti in a carbon world. It has greater lateral stiffness with vertical compliance that yields Titanium's magical ride quality. Constructed using seamless straight gauge 3AL/2.5V titanium. Unlike carbon fiber which redirects shock energy throughout the frame, Ti's elastic modulus creates a natural absorption of vibration without losing its stiffness. The T7 falls in line of our T series in the sportive category. Sportive riding typically demands comfort and efficiency for a long ride as well as responsive stiffness for the changing road terrain. The T7, with its performance geometry (longer chainstays and taller head tube) offer excellent ride quality with comfort engineered into the frame. This geometry is relaxed enough for those looking for a leisurely ride, but it is still ready for that time when the ride turns into a race at the first sight of a city limit sign. What makes the T7 stand apart from the rest of the T series is the classic tube shape. The use of shape specific design in the other models accounts for every angle of each tube and how it comes together. This idea is still the basis for the T7, but simplified. We still use shape specific design in the downtube while maintaining classic tube shape throughout the frame. The T7 is a less aggressive version of the T5 with less tube shaping and a taller head tube.
