2022–23 Garden City Ice Varsity Hockey

Garden City Wings Varsity ice hockey celebrated both its 50th anniversary this 2022-2023 season and its first playoff berth in over 10 years. Along the way the Wings shut out last year’s League Champions, Massapequa, took a playoff and states bound Long Beach to the wire only losing by one, and then beat Half Hollows Hills (another states and playoff bound team) on their home ice at their senior night by playing their best game all season. Also, this year, the inaugural Garden City Wings Varsity ice hockey team from 1973 honored their coach, Peter J. Gall, Sr., for his dedication and many years of service to the organization.

The Wings went 11 and 7, and were led in offense by B. Seaman, A. Bedard and T.J. Salvato. The defensive corp include P. Blum, K. Curley, J. Philippides, and T. Walker, with excellent goaltending by P.J. Tursi and E. Rosati. The team is graduating 7 seniors but is well poised for next year led by rising seniors Alex Bedard, Michael Power, Bobby Seaman, and TJ Salvato.

The Wings expect to field 3 teams next year: a Middle School, Junior Varsity and Varsity. Interested players should email gardencitywings@ gmail.com. Follow the team on Instagram (GCWings) and look for the updated website later this summer.
