PRESS RELEASE Group painting exhibition “My Beloved Poros” From 6th to 30th September “Art in the Old Olive Press” gives back some of the hospitality and love with which it was embraced by Poros island in the first six months of its operations, starting with a group painting exhibition of artists from three continents that have also loved and been inspired by this place. More events will follow within September, including music, theatre and literature. Stay tuned for more information. Dennis McCallum, from Scotland, came to Poros with his Greek wife Frances 12 years ago to buy a house on the island where her family already lived and owned property. Dennis was an artist well known for his wildlife paintings back in Britain and has exhibited in America and throughout Britain including London, Windsor, and Edinburgh, as well as appearing several times on television in connection with his paintings and work with owls in particular. His exposure to the warmth and depth of colour on Poros inspired him to paint in different new styles which stretched his imagination and urged him to investigate innovative and varied subjects. He has now been painting for 50 years and has been invited to present, in 2014, a major exhibition in Scotland to celebrate the event. The choice of paintings lies totally with Dennis and he paints and draws visions that have fascinated him and lingered at the back of his brain waiting for the day when they could be released out into the freedom of sunshine and fresh air. Dennis paints imagination. Born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Pamela Rogers earned her BFA Degree in Painting at the UNC at Greensboro.
