2011 is Little Angel Theatre’s 50th anniversary and we have plenty to keep you eentertained. We start the year by welcoming back some classic shows, including the stunning Selkie Bride, and introduce you to some new ones. There’s something for everyone at “the Home of British Puppetry”. Friday Fives Watch out for our best value shows – all tickets for Friday 5pm shows are only £5! This season we have Friday Fives for The Frog Prince, The Selkie Bride, The Fabulous Flutterbys and The Mousehole Cat. All other performances are priced at £8/£6 concessions

The Frog Princess

Puppet Lab, age 3–7

The Frog Princess combines storytelling and puppetry in a show full of warmth and humour, for audiences aged 3–7 years old and their families and friends. The Russian tale tells of three brothers who are ordered by their father to find a bride. Each prince must shoot an arrow into the air, and marry whoever finds it. Perfect princesses return the arrows to the eldest two brothers. Unfortunately a frog finds the third brother’s arrow. Two superb puppeteers lead the audience through the trials and tribulations of the Frog in this all new version of a Puppet Lab classic. DATES AND TIMES Wednesday 9–Sunday 13 February Wednesday/Thursday 10am/1pm Friday 1pm/5pm Saturday/Sunday 11am/2pm Baby Friendly shows Thursday 10am/Sunday 11am Tickets £8/£6 conc

Friday Fives!

The Fabulous Flutterbys By Barb Jungr Little Angel Theatre, age 3+

The Selkie Bride Wild Theatre, age 4–10 Originally produced for Little Angel Theatre, and with puppets by Lyndie Wright, Jan Zalud, and Peter O’Rourke, this beautiful show makes a welcome return. Our story is of a Selkie who meets a fisherman adrift and alone in a storm at sea. Life on land seems very strange to a Selkie, and the fisherman’s life will change as well. A life under the sea is magically evoked, while the Selkie on land makes mischief in the house, combs her hair with a fishbone and feeds all the fish to a greedy seagull! The puppets range from the beautiful tabletop style Selkie, through seals, seagulls and a lobster to tiny shadow puppets and everyday objects which transform into jellyfish and shoals of minnows. DATES AND TIMES Wednesday 16–Sunday 27 February (Wednesdays – Sundays) Wednesday/Thursday 10am/1pm (11am/2pm half term) Friday 1pm/5pm (2pm/5pm half term) Saturday/Sunday 11am/2pm Baby Friendly shows Sundays 11am Tickets £8/£6 conc

Friday Fives!

Another chance to catch this Little Angel show, now touring, which was first performed last summer. Hamish and Grace are searching for their missing friend. As they travel through their insect sized world they encounter a host of fabulous and fascinating creatures, including blues-singing Slow Worm Joe, a patch of mean strawberries and Adam the ant. They have a long and dangerous journey ahead of them before they can become beautiful flutterbys. “Exquisite” The Stage

Friday Fives!

Hansel and Gretel Theater Trampoline, age 5+

Faithful to the brothers Grimm story, Theater Trampoline shine a contemporary light on this well known and loved story. Rejected by a hostile adult world, Hansel and Gretel are forced to rely on each other… A story about hope, growing up and, above all, an ode to the strength of children everywhere. DATES AND TIMES Wednesday 9 March (10am/1pm) Saturday 12 March (11am/2pm/4pm) Tickets £8/£6 conc

Mary’s Monsters One Moment In Time Theatre, age 5+

Storm in a Teacup Horse + Bamboo, age 4+ It’s not always easy making friends, especially when you live in a lighthouse surrounded by dangerous rocks, towering waves and troublemaking seagulls. An exciting opportunity for a tea party with a friend arises when the supply boat comes, but the lighthouse keeper’s nervousness turns what could have been a delight into a disaster. It is only when a storm blows in and real disaster looms that he can find the courage to save the day and rebuild his friendship. “Compelling and eloquent… An unforgettable theatrical experience” The Guardian

DATES AND TIMES Sunday 13 March, 11am/2pm Tickets £8/£6 conc

A true tale of daring, determination and dinosaurs! 10 year old Mary Anning loves to hunt for fossils on the beach near her home in Lyme Regis. The cliffs are full of secrets…people say there are monsters buried inside! A true story told with puppets, shadows and enchanting live music. DATES AND TIMES Sunday 20 March, 11am/2pm Tickets £8/£6 conc

The Mousehole Cat PuppetCraft, age 4–10 Inspired by an old folk legend, the story tells of the Cornish village of Mousehole where a storm has been raging for weeks... Everyone is hungry as the boats cannot leave the harbour to fish… so old Tom the fisherman and his cat Mowzer set out to sea in their tiny boat, braving the fury of the Great Storm-Cat… to try and save the village. This charming tale, which is still celebrated each year in the village of Mousehole, is brought to life by carved wooden puppets, coloured shadows, live music, song and a beautiful set. The wonderful PuppetCraft return to Little Angel after their last sell-out run of The Selfish Giant. “From start to finish it grabbed everyone - of whatever age, from four years old upward – in a paw-like grip” The Cornishman Newspaper
