MARINE SPECIFIC CAPABILITIES McKay is one of the world’s leading marine electrical companies in the 30 - 145m market. McKay provides a complete end-to-end solution including design, manufacture, automations, installations and maintenance.

MARINE ELECTRICAL DESIGN McKay’s team of electrical engineers provide leading edge electrical design for defence and commercial vessels and superyachts. We provide drawings in AutoCAD format as well as full documentation for operation, maintenance and class submissions. McKay’s design process includes the development of single line diagrams, power systems analysis (short circuit and protection co-ordination studies and load analysis). A cable management installation system is used to design efficient cable support and assist with cable installations. We are experiences in providing full ILS data for defence projects.

SWITCHBOARDS McKay designs and manufactures marine switchboards using the CUBIC panel systems. This full type tested system meets the requirements of all commonly used accreditation bodies, including KEMA, ASTA, UL, DNV, GL, BV and Lloyds.

McKay manufactures fully automated main and emergency switchboards with generator control, loads control and integrated shore power and bow thruster units. We manufacture switchboards from Form 1 to Form 4 from fully fixed modules up to fully withdrawable, to an IP rating of up to IP54; load current ratings up to 8750A and up to 120kA 1 sec RMS fault ratings. Our switchboards are fitted with components to meet any specific brand requirement or client preference.

INTEGRATED MONITORING AND ALARMING CONTROL SYSTEM McKay has its own Integrated Monitoring Alarm and Control System, MIMACS, which was developed for superyacht application, but can be equally be used on commercial and non-military specified vessels such as patrol vessels. Our system runs on a Schneider Citect SCADA System, utilizing hardware specific to the application. MIMACS can be customized to meet specific client requirements and is scalable to meet the specific vessel size.

MSIM, which allows full function testing of the MIMACS systems prior to full commissioning. This not only allows the clients to have a hands on experience with the MIMACS application prior to handover, but also allows for fine tuning if required. The use of MSIN significantly reduces commissioning time and provides an excellent training platform for operators. The MIMACS systems allows for remote monitoring and support for vessels anywhere in the world.

TESTIMONIAL “I had the pleasure of working with McKay Electrical during the build of the 86 meter Cakewalk on the east coast of the US. McKay supplied all our switchboards as well as their integrated alarm and monitoring system IMACS. IMacs is very user-friendly and easy to navigate. I could not only monitor any point on the vessel, but could control most systems from anywhere on the vessel via touchscreen. The scalability was endless. I found the built-in trending and diagnostic functions extremely useful when troubleshooting. The overall appearance is very modern and up-to-date. It can also be customised. I was able to make changes quickly as McKay was always standing by. I rarely ran into any issues with the system over the four years I operated it. Their remote support is top notch and any issues I did have were dealt with quickly. I would choose IMACS without hesitation on any new build project or refit. I highly recommend the IMACS system.
