This publication shows 20 of the photos which French photographer Daniel Boudinet took on his visit to Little Sparta in 1987. In this same year, Ian Hamilton Finlay (1925–2006) presented the exhibition 'Poursuites révolutionnaires' at the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain to mark the bicentenary of the French Revolution. To accompany this exhibition, French photographer Daniel Boudinet (1945–90) produced a series of photographs of Little Sparta, Finlay’s garden at his home Stonypath. Nine of these photos were published in the book 'Un paysage ou Neuf vues du jardin de Ian Hamilton Finlay'. As described by the Fondation Cartier, Boudinet’s “visual survey provides a very accurate perception of the relationship between nature and culture in the garden at Stonypath”.
