FUND YOUR FUTURE TRANSFER SCHOLARSHIPS & MERIT AWARDS A college education is an important investment in your future. LIU is dedicated to helping make a quality education affordable. Scholarships are determined by the information supplied in your admissions application and are based on your GPA at the time of admission. Merit-based scholarships are subject to change and exact amounts may vary from semester to semester. All scholarships are awarded on a funds available basis. If you receive a transfer academic scholarship, it may be renewed for up to six consecutive terms of undergraduate study if you meet the renewal requirements, which include maintaining full-time enrollment status and a 3.2 cumulative GPA.

Presidential Scholarships* — Up to $12,000 per year The Presidential Scholarship is offered to the highest achieving applicants, and includes entry into our prestigious Honors College.

Distinguished Scholars Award* — up to $9,000 per year Honors Scholarships are generally offered to the top 25% of our admitted students and also include entry into the Honors College.

Merit Scholarships — Up to $7,500 per year Merit scholarships are typically offered to students with a GPA of 3.5 or greater.

Recognition Scholarships — up to $5,000 per year Recognition scholarships are typically offered to students with a GPA of 3.2 or greater. *Application is required for acceptance into Honors College

ADDITIONAL SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES Other scholarships, such as the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship, may be awarded after your application is evaluated. A limited number of LIU Grants are available for students who do not meet the criteria for the scholarships noted above. Talent scholarships are available for students after auditions or portfolio submissions in the visual and performing arts. Scholarships are also available for athletes, alumni, siblings of current students, and veterans. 7

Transfer admissions counselors help you coordinate all services, including credit evaluations, financial assistance, scholarship programs, academic advisement, and registration.

STATE-OF-THE-ART LEARNING

Established in 1955, the Harriet Rothkopf Heilbrunn School of Nursing is the only universitybased academic nursing center in Brooklyn.

Students are prepared to address compelling health care challenges in the community and the nation through emphasis on engaged learning, training, and simulation of the urban nursing environments. The School of Nursing’s high-tech facilities feature modern educational laboratories and classrooms with specialized simulation and clinical equipment.
