River Cloud |Public Data Center Fall 2016 | Professor: Valerie Greer | Site: Riverfront, St. Louis, Missouri
[ CLOUD: library without books ] This project proposes a research Data Center for the Army Corps of Engineers and a public digital library for residents. It extends the river’s edge to the city and make the invisible visible. The aim of this project is to allow residents of St. Louis to reconsider and reconnect to the Mississippi River riverfront as well as to the massive processing of data that invisibly shapes our lives today. So the story of the river continues‌

Architecture of SKIN |Redefining the Surgical Practice Fall 2015 | Professor: Sungho Kim | Site: BJC hospital, St. Louis, Missouri This studio explores the possibility of inventing new forms of bioengineered artificial skins that is able to interface with architectual conditions. The first stage of studio was researching on function of human skin and scheme of dynamic model. The second stage is to combine the skin with the model. This comprehensive mechanism was operated with sensors and controllers. Last stage of the project was to bring the idea of this comprehensive model forward and combine it with surgical operation function.

Union Music Station |Urban Acupuncture Spring 2015 | Professor: Alfredo Payá | Site: Union Station, St. Louis, Missouri
St. Louis Union Station is a National Historic Landmark. It was a passenger train terminal and once the world’s largest and busiest train station. By intergrating the Union Station with music, I was trying to create an open and changeable urban space to the city. The space on the ground allows different group activities to happen with the moving panel system. It makes the site possible to held concert, concerts at same time, big exhibition, fairs, lecture and conferences. The space underground allows more private activities to happen. It’s a parking lot, a backstage, a metro link station, a shopping space. The practice / rehearsal rooms for professionals provide different dimension of the rooms, allows different numbers of people to practice.

Community Center |Wooden Furniture Factory Transformation Fall 2012 | Professor: Wanyin Qu | Site: Wuhan, China With more and more demolition and antidemolition acts in Wuhan, this project helped me have a deeper understanding of these issues. The site is on the outskirts of Wuhan; there is an old wooden furniture factory there as well. After I surveyed the site and surrounding areas, I decided to transform the existing factory by means of re-adapting a few existing structures into a community center that can serve the needs of the neighborhood, targeting young residents, high school students, and their parents.

Community Theater Spring 2012 | Professor: Lin Zhuang | Site: Wuhan, China
The aim of the project is to design a theater for people in the area. The site is in Qingshan district, Wuhan. The neighborhood is very vibrant. In this project, I wanted to challenge the conventional theater relationship between performers and audiences. In my view, there exists a disconnect between the spectator and the spectacle in the conventional theater design. My vision is to create a new space where the audience has a much more engaging relationship with the performers: They can participate or even create their own performance. Therefore, many spaces are designed to activate these activities, such as an outdoor stage, a mirror canopy, and a movable wall. Outdoor stage

Forms Shopping area Hubei academy of agricutural sciences Connect to the landscape outside the site
This project is located next to the lake. It is in a very diverse community with commercial, residential, universities, and retail shops around the site. So I designed a walk way in the middle of the site and created it such that those in the city can still view the lake. Also I set a shopping area on the north side of the site. Then the commercial areas next to the site and the shopping area can connect and form a large retail anchor. Waters
Transportation
The goal of this project is to design an affordable housing community for people in Vlore, Albania. In Vlore, most fresh food are exportd to French and there barely markets for locals. My project is to explore a way to provide market service besides the housing.
