Technical & Production Education We have a wealth of technical expertise backstage and are happy to introduce students to the work we do. Sessions range from a brief introduction to in-depth technical workshops. The following sessions are offered: Just the Job Tour: A tour of the theatre to include backstage areas and talks from members of the different departments that make up the Everyman & Playhouse company. Qwork Day: This is a hands-on intensive day in which the students can specialise in a specific theatre production skill and work with an experienced practitioner on a project. Bespoke Workshops can be created to meet your course needs: • Theatrical practitioners • Genre and theatre styles • Devising a performance piece • Approaches to writing an analytical review • Become an Everyman & Playhouse partner

Drama Teachers’ Forum & Primary Forum Established for over 10 years, the Drama Teachers’ Forum provides an invaluable support network for teachers in and around Merseyside. We now also have a forum for primary teachers which takes place 3 times in the academic year. These events are fantastic opportunities to: • Meet with local colleagues in a warm and supportive environment • Share resources, ideas and approaches

Rita is back in Liverpool. This funny and thought-provoking comedy follows Rita, a bored and dissatisfied hairdresser and housewife, who decides to re-engage with education and go to university. She is assigned as a student to Frank, a disillusioned professor. They quickly develop a complex relationship, and make selfdiscoveries that surprise them both. Working with the text Using the methods of Stanislavski, this is an opportunity to practically explore approaches to interpreting naturalistic texts and developing character, with Educating Rita as an ideal example. The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas Based on the best-selling novel by John Boyne The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is a heart-wrenching tale of an unlikely friendship between two innocent boys
Set during World War II, the story is seen through the innocent eyes of Bruno, the eight-year-old son of the commandant at a concentration camp, whose forbidden friendship with a Jewish boy on the other side of the camp fence has startling and devastating consequences. Lead-up project We are creating a detailed scheme of work which can be undertaken by schools in preparation for their visit to see the production. For six weeks prior to the run, schools involved will be sent different challenges/tasks which relate to the story. These will relate to aspects of the curriculum in all subject areas. Their work will then be displayed at the Playhouse for them to see during their visit.
